Big noises starting to come from camp, if all reads correctly they def have best team all round in AFC - better equiped than last few years, Shuab has to learn by mistakes though and bring his A game to each match...last seasons last few games were awful and they cannot do it again...if avoiding a bad injury to Foster they have many weapons and lots of coverage

Good article here:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000226835/article/jj-watt-houston-texans-plugging-along-steadily-in-camp

maybe this is the year they put their foot on the gas and finally follow through? at least so far no one has got arrested in close season or banned which has to be a positive - tough road schedule but they are looking the real deal in roster i reckon...they are value after last two seasons play off bust ups and could be very much under estimated imo

Cant also help but like Redskins - RG III looks like he is on way back and could be very good value - great nucleus of a team and i liked them a lot last season...roll on first games GrinGrin

Houston also added a really talented WR in the draft (hopkins)

the only issue for me is the reliance on Foster who is starting to get a lot of niggles.

I also do not think Schuab is good enough.

Hard to see past the Broncos for the AFC imo

Schaub is rubbish, don't see how this team makes the next step with him.  He doesn't come across as a confident QB(Leader) and it shows in the big games.  Pass Defence was torched on a lot of occasions last year which came as a surprise when they were supposed to have these great corners, ed reed presence will sort that problem out if he stays fit.  As d13 touched upon, foster seems to be picking up a lot of injuries.  The texans have a lot of quality but don't see them going to the championship game

Bit harsh to say Shuab is rubbish - he is certainly better than a lot of QBS in the NFL and his stats do show that - he is not top notch I agree but lets be honest neither was Flacco and he won a SB after an average season until the play offs - i think his issue is bottle and he has to believe in himself when it gets to crunch games and sometimes go for it rather than be conservative...he did not fumble once last season but did give up 12 interceptions which is the issue but 64.3% completion rate is pretty good. They have strengthened up in many areas and some good vibes about Hopkins have to be a positive, plus TJ seems to be a good back up QB...nice td from the both last night against Vikings - only pre season but great catch / delivery. Cushing and Tate are back and mean business so a healthy Texans wins many games and potentially get to conference championship - maybe SB imo...loads of other AFC teams already have deep injuries / suspensions...so who knows but they must finish stronger and must get number 1 seeding to have the best chance..on the road in play offs they seem nervous...but anyways cant wait for it all to start..pre season is fun but roll on the good stuff

Good luck both - who are your picks?
Report HARRY22 August 11, 2013 1:42 PM BST
He is worse than a lot of QBs also, you woudln't trust him to put a ball in a tight area,he just seems to connect with the big play which makes him look half decent, doesn't have the legs to make up for his average play.  Just don't like him, never had a downer on flacco over the years so can't compare the two myself.  Foster goes down and they have had it,as mentioned they are very talented and should breeze to the playoffs with the weak division they play in but don't think they are nailed on to win this division.  Don't have any picks as yet, very difficult this season.

my pick for the AFC would be Denver by a country mile.
Report mookybarkid August 13, 2013 5:40 PM BST
I'd have Denver as the AFC #1 seed by a country mile.  Not sure that they will make it to the SB though.  I just think they will come unstuck somewhere in the playoffs.

All I need to do now is work out which team will actually beat them and be AFC Champs.  So far I'm down to about 8 possibles!!
Report orioles August 13, 2013 7:19 PM BST
I like both these teams.

If DeAndre Hopkins starts strong and Ben Tate can put up some numbers to spell Foster, Schaub can prosper and Houston will challenge.

Denver look really nice. They've made some great off-season moves and apart from the Dumervil and Von Miller hiccups (and a possible weakness at ML) I love their balance. Manning might rip it up and 3/1 still looks value.

Washington stand and fall on RGIII's knee - they're weak deep so Morris will need to have a monster year on the ground. Griffin will surely be less of a threat running. Morgan, Moss and Garcon? Nope.

Really tough year to make pre season predictions imo.

i think it will be a great year and these are some things i will be looking out for:

Sophomore slump for Luck, RG3, Wilson, and Kapaernick?

Green Bay look banged up at the moment

The Chiefs again look good on paper this year and can Alex Smith deliver

the Cardinals potentially have the best D in football now imo with the honey badger and Peterson

Loads of new coaches inlcuding Chip Kelly - who starts for the Eagles? Vick or Foley?

Key players are fit again - Big Ben?
Report HARRY22 August 14, 2013 7:19 PM BST
Is that a trick question?? Vick starts all day long, at least this season he looks like he will have some protection rather than running around being hit from all sides, brady wouldn't have finished the season with the protection vick had last year.

Too much on Robert for the Redksins.
Some tough injuries already and secondary is a mess.
London is probably going to regress further he did last year, so Rak needs to really have a big year.
May nick the NFC East as it is a weak division, but no chance of SB

Houston - we have a very nice problem

Both back up QBs are playing out of their skins...dont do a Trindon Holliday faux pas and drop the wrong one again...what a lovely problem to have..yes pre season, i know, i know...but rather be here than in jets situation!
