I shouldn't even lower myself to comment on this thread as it is clearly just a wind up. He is not a horse, no injury takes 18 months not even an achilles injury. If his knee is torn it will be fine for the pre-season and the question then will be is it going to hold up or be a factor for the rest of his career. Grow up Clay you are on here long enough

found this after trying to establish the source of Clay's news. pxlphish • Mon Jan 07, 2013 04:19 PM I saw the "source" on Twitter 2 hours ago. Sometimes local stations run with twitter news. God, I hope he's ok. My 7 year old was balling for an hour after the game.

Shanhan should be ashamed of himself. Disgusting really, he's taken advantage of a kid for his own ends. RG has been nothing but class from day 1, and this is how his HC repays him.
The BS he came out with at the PC was sickening.

An MRI exam of the injured right knee of Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III shows that the rookie star may have suffered at least partial tears of two ligaments, according to several people with knowledge of the test results.
Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that the results of Griffin’s MRI were inconclusive and that Griffin would be examined Tuesday by orthopedic surgeon James Andrews at Andrews’s medical office outside Pensacola, Fla. That evaluation is an attempt to determine whether the MRI results show new injuries to Griffin’s anterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments, or previous injuries, he said. The initial MRI was conducted on Griffin hours after the game. One person with knowledge of the tests said team physicians had conflicting opinions of the test’s findings, prompting the decision to have Griffin, who will be accompanied by team owner Daniel Snyder, see Andrews for further examination.

from a professional point of view I will be interested to see the diagnosis and subsequent prognosis
as a Physical Therapist I've treated a significant number of similar injuries in triathletes, rugby players, judo players, rock climbers, bodybuilders and mountain bikers over the last 20+ years
the time taken to return to competitive sport varies according to the nature of the injury, whether surgery is required and the amount of time to recover and rehabilitate but I would think he will miss next season (or rather should if they want him to recover fully)
complete rupture of the ACL is quite easy to diagnose even without MRI because the lower leg will move in a certain manner if it is completely ruptured but won't if it isn't so I suspect it is not ruptured (they have an inconclusive diagnosis). However, even if it is a partial tear the healing process is generally slow because of the lack of blood supply to ligamentous tissue.
Hope they consider advanced treatments like cryo rooms, oxygen tents and so on.
poor bloke should have been straight off as soon as he started limping

I am not apologising yet but will if the scan today shows that he is out for 14 months (even though your headline is 18 months) I have had that injury. It is 3 months in a cast and then 3 months rehab. After that you are either right or not. Personally I never got my speed back but my knee was fine and I played soccer for another 12 years. I mentioned above Carson Palmer who imo was never the same after a similiar injury.
I saw a good clip on ESPN earlier where a chap said that Seattle would have won anyway no matter who was QB once RG111 was hurt. I'd agree with that and believe he should have been pulled after the interception in the 2nd quarter

Washington went away from the run, even though they were leading and had RG3 limping. Stats point to Seattle being stronger at defending the pass over the run.
Could it be that the injury to the guard KORY LICHSTIEGER (overshadowed by RG3gate) contributed much to the 'skins change of game-plan, as the immobility of RG3 did?

I think they just keyed on Morris to be honest, RG could not throw the ball he could not plant his foot and drive off it. Of course the loss of KL hurt. Seattle did not have to worry about containing RG in the pocket do they could pin their ears back, no need to show gap discipline.
Let's not underrate how well Seattle moved the ball either.

judorick - as far as I can see, he has a torn right knee MCL which the doctors are going to repair later today, during which they are also going to see if there is any damage to the ACL. I'm finding it difficult enough to get a clearer picture about the injuries as there is a lot of conflicting stuff out there.

6 months as I predicted. I have had this injury as mentioned. However as I also mentioned there is every chance he will never be the player he once was. H may never get his speed or flexibility back. ACL/LCL knee injuries are the worst injury an NFL player can get. Now that we know more or less the full story it could turn out that RG111 ruined his own NFL career in year 1 although the coaches have to take their share of the blame

it was evident in the game against the cowboys that his knee wasnt right.
to put him out there against the Seahawks on that field was madness.
the coaches/owners have to take full responsibility as they make the decisions.

as its the same knee he tore his acl in the 2009 season when playing for baylor i would think there will be no rushing back from this, having said there is no reason to say that he wont recover, adrian peterson suffered a bad injury (torn acl)and he came back after 8 months playing great. griffin should have been removed from the game regardless of what he was saying, it was plain to see..

Well I think we more or less have the full picture now. RG111 downplayed the injury at the time and since. However I do agree with you the coaches had a month to assess properly and when Seattle saw him with the brace on it was only a matter of time before someone creamed him. As it happens it was the turf and his own teams mistakes that nailed him Hopefully he will recover.
