Alex Smith is OUT of tonight's match (Cutler was already ruled out) so its Colin Kaepernick leading the 49ers vs Jason Campbell leading the Bears
The 49ers have actually drifted in that hour or so but I would rate Kaepernick easily as good as Smith (he can throw and run and will eventually be better IMO) so I don't understand that drift at all
Actually think Bears are better with Jason Campbell.
this is a tough game to call but should be a great game to watch
I also Kapaernick but this Bears D is mean

-3.0 points the 49ers on the spread for me. It seems the quarterback situation is a 50/50 for both teams, SF were poor last week and will want to put on a show. Others on here commented that they were the best side during the first two weeks of the season - they will want to prove the early season form hasn't washed away since.

10 days ago this looked like being the game of the year, back up QBs for both tempers enthusiasm a little so I can't approach this game with any sort of punting head. Points have bombed to a level where over might be the smart call. Gun to my head I'd be with Bears +3.5 but I can't get excited about this one now...

Haven't got the results to hand but haven't the Bears been better away from Soldier Field? But also don't the Bears struggle against sides with winning records?

I don't like the Bears in big spots, they're kind of a SD-lite. SD choke every big game they ever play. But, Campbell is a proven NFL QB, what has Kapernick done?
That's the problem here.
34.5 is a real low number, and the Bears D has been scoring for fun.
Smith or no Smith, I think the 49ers were better last season than this. I just don't like trusting the Bears though.

this is basically Gore vs Bears D and forte vs the 49ers D
if i am being honest the form points towards the Bears D and Forte but wouldnt be surprised to see the 49ers step up tonight
really tough game to call.
Special teams will be key as well

Unders/Overs is a shade too low for me but i'm not confident to back overs, so thats a no play.
Like the bears s/u and with the points in this one, campbell could be starting qb in the nfl and will have took practice reps all week.
Tebow mark 2 kaepernick still has it all to prove with the weight on his shoulders.

For some interest, I've put a small bet on +5.5 sacks (@2.01), and on a defensive or special teams TD (@2.73) at Pinnacle. With the injuries, no idea who'll come out on top, so ignoring those markets and planning to enjoy the game :)

Would like to stay up for this but 1.40ko is late for a monday may struggle to stay awake. Didnt find it so hard earlier in the season but as the winter draws in its tough. Can you sky plus behind the red button?

No otherwise I would probably be one of many recording this garbage coverage....it is hard staying awake when the league standings are being shown over and over

Is it really only 10 seconds? I thought it was closer to a minute or two when I last watched on it. Or maybe that was Channel 4. I'm old, I forget.
No plans to do anything in play, so no matter for me. Did well on Ravens-Steelers game yesterday, so not pushing it tonight. Better be a good game, though.

It was Darren Fletcher who does BBC 5Live and the Inside The Huddle podcast with Neil Reynolds who was presenting last week. It's supposed to be him and Neil for the duration but Reynolds couldn't make it last week so they got Boiman to stand in.
It actually worked quite well, and it was arguably better than Channel 4's coverage where Carlson thinks he's a flucking comedian and never seems to give a straight answer to any question without first making some kind of shiite joke. He's such a good pundit too that it's a shame he has to resort to that.
Fletcher and Boiman stuck to the game, discussed the results from the Sunday, showed some highlights and took some Tweets from viewers about NFL matters. It was so much of an improvement on the scrolling results and outdated player profiles, and that's even taking into account it was the Steelers and the Chiefs last week.

CALL ME CRAZY HERE BUT I'M ON THE BEARS TONIGHT BIG TIME ... THEIR QB JASON CAMPBELL WAS ACTUALLY A STARTER TO ME THE BEST BACKUP IN THE NFL (SORTA LIKE TAKIN OFF AGUERO BRINGIN ON DZEKO) SO THIS ISN'T ANYTHING NEW TO HIM, THE OTHER THING IS BEARS WILL SACK THE SHJIT OUT OF HIM FROM THE JUMP AND THAT WILL JUST DEMORALIZE HIM AND CONFIDENCE WILL GO.
49ERS SECONDARY HAS BEEN WOEFUL PAST FEW GAMES SO WHO KNOWS IF THIS IS FIXABLE THIS SEASON ... I JUST HAVE THE FEELING BEARS WILL IF ANYTHING COVER THE SPREAD BUT SOMETHING TELLS ME THEY'LL WIN TONIGHT

Well done BBC for FINALLY getting a studio - missed last week so no idea if these guys are any good, but not having to sit through the endless musical interludes is going to be wonderful.
Can't call this one, will see how it develops.

They normally do force a lot of turnovers, Harry - lead the NFL in interceptions, and a fair few forced fumbles, too. (nfl.com stats suck).
Being made to look very ordinary tonight.

we had a discussion the other day...think it was the niners who were ticked off as one of few teams who could cope with losing a QB...cutler loss huge...with him I couldnt see them winning or getting close to the superbowl

Forte's getting some carries .. but 49ers have a great run D, and if Chicago aren't passing much, they'll be keying on the run.
It's odd the Bears elected to run far more in the opening drives with an experienced QB than the 49ers. Obviously they don't rate Campbell too highly.

Ah, ok .. see what you mean. He's getting the hand-offs, but he's arguably more useful when he can receive it in space.
I'm liking all these sacks :) Only need 2 more for +5.5.

he was doing both very well last season...this niners D is excellent but the bears I have seen this season have looked rubbish so hard to say how good the niners are tonight. not difficult to say how good they are on offence tonight..very efficient

More for the 49ers, perhaps ;) I'm just hanging in for sacks and hoping (optimistically!) for a D/ST TD. Nowt on Betfair tonight.
I can't believe the Bears are so poor tonight .. both offensively and defensively.

Never go to bed with red in the NFL.....ever. Going to bed as well but looking to zero on Bears with a half-decent green on 49ers, pretty poor at moment

Hope things turn round for you, Wallflower. Watching a car crash is always worthwhile, but close games are always more entertaining. Bears get the kickoff, hopefully they can get things moving after some HT hairdryer treatment.

Don't really blame Campbell that much - he's not great admittedly - but would be pretty hard to shine with completely smashed-up offensive line.
(Same applies to Vick - he could be quicker with his release, but a lot of the time the OL has disintegrated straight away)

Its ok, can trade out for bears +0, 49ers about 7 euro. Not an issue just that I stayed-up for this - love NFL, particularly close low-scoring matches, suits my approach.
Also this delay annoys the hell out of me. Find I'm watching the match via the Betfair prices!

I blame the playcalling more than Campbell; I expected him to be better than Kapaernick tonight (and, speaking as a Raiders fan, I've seen a few of his games when he was there). But to run so much in the opening couple of drives doesn't show you have much confidence in your QB, and the D surely detects this.
I'm watching via an ESPN stream; despite all the adverts, it's the most enjoyable converage. Get novelty American adverts: they really want you to consult your MD to try Viagra.

Think i'll do that next week - as long as the stream catches up before next play starts i'm fine - not 2 plays behind like the BBC - dont know why they bothered

Well, if you're not on Betfair betting away the family silver, how would you how it lagged? And would you care? :)
I get streams from usagoals.com (use Adblock!).. there's usually a dozen or so for NFL, lag and quality varies.

I have my own method which involves sniping away on individual plays as you can get 5-10 ticks even on the most average play. Pick drives where I fancy turnover, watch the OL/DL carefully. I'm kind of tuned that way (similar to my Tennis approach).......then start to take it easy and move percentage of green to outsider gradually - if I think there is chance. THIS DOES NOT APPLY HERE - Bears are a busted flush tonight.
Not explaining very well, but it works for many years, but I need to be in step with the actual plays.

SF TD! Night, Wallflower :) Understand the approach, done some tennis trading myself. My NFL streams are usually ~15s behind, I guess - I see odds change dramatically after an interception, then see it in the stream slightly after.

Is the Bears record suspect, Harry? Wins against poor teams, lose against decent teams?
I know they have Campbell in for Cutler, but they're just awful tonight. Everywhere.

all about opinions but I have been against the bears all season...defence is very good but being smashed tonight...they have relied on turnovers to win games..even beating carolina they needed turnovers and defensive TDs...They are not good enough simple as

the best 2 teams they have faced this season...niners and packers..lost both...lost a tight game v houston...losing cutler in that game took away any chance of a win
