Those of you who look at my BF blog (both of you!) will know that this is mostly an opportunity to laugh at an old man, but as we aren't getting much baseball traffic on the forum, I thought I'd post some system bets to perhaps stimulate a little interest..

I think the Totals system may be garbage lol. It's an old system that did quite well iirc that I've tried to remember, but I'm not sure I've got it right. I think it's missing a 'gateway' criterion. I am not shrewd and already regretting this little exercise ... that lot took me an hour  |

really enjoy reading your tips each night orioles, the more and more i bet on baseball ( which is alot! ) the more i believe not to look at the price of the team you fancy to win. if you fancy them, back them irrespective of the price - unless they're stupidly short.

That's an interesting read. If I'm honest, I'm surprised that backing unders / overs is something that can be profitable long term. Particularly when backing unders as one swing of the bat can add 4 runs to the score.
I place alot ( probably too much ) emphasis on the pitchers, and apart from the odd blowout ( last night for example ) i do quite well. i'm a phillies fan and opposing them this season has been rather profitable |

The pitchers are the key, as you say. You can get as complex as you like with a game like baseball, because there are stats for almost every element of the game. However, baseball really is an 'anything can happen' game, so trying to read a game in too much detail is a ticket to the madhouse.
Interestingly, many experienced baseball bettors believe that betting the total is the easiest bet. The Phillies have killed me this season  |

to be fair to the phils, losing utley and howard is huge. But the bookies see Halladay or Lee on the mound and instantly the phils are 1/2 - 2/5 to win the game. The only time I back the Phils with any confidence is when Hamels is on the mound.

Thanks UTC and mightymac, bearing in mind the cards were 2-1 up against the royals in the 9th and the Royals had 2 out and 2 strikes then thwack. 2-2! could have been an even better night, still can't complain too much. Especially as the reds and dodgers both came from behind.

i was copying and pasting the proof while you were replying lol
i tend to have a good crack at the baseball saturdays and sundays as i've got more time on my hands. With the doubles etc, getting as little as 5 or 6 out of 11 more or less pays for it all. And as you know, some nights it is possible to get them nearly all right. |
