I hope the people who dont seem to care what the rules are will genuinely accept whatever is proposed on their behalf. It takes less than 2 mins to answer the questionnaire. :)Buckio - good question, personally I think adding $5 seems fair and I`d like to see no limit on how long you keep a player, could make very interesting trading if this was the rule, but thats just my opinion.
I haven't played this keeper format before so trying to work through scenarios ...so the following is simply an interpretation
I don't think there needs be a limit on the number of years a player is kept if $5 is added each year ...if Votto goes for $33 then next year $38, $43 and so on ...there becomes a point when he becomes untradeable and unrosterable... at which point they end up back in the pool. Realistically if you manage to pick up a free agent for say $1 in season 1 ...if he turns out to be stud you will probably just about be rostering him in Y5 or Y6 at $21 or $26 therefore there will likely be a regular turnover of players with us lot always on the look out for bargains at Auction or off the waiver wire.
Remember if FAAB used that player will have the FAAB value (or that year's auction salary if greater) as its salary ...if not then value (as things stand) will be $0. If we go down the latter route I believe the pick up value should also be the that year's auction salary if the player was obtained at auction. For example if you have 3 high value players on the DL ...say all bought for $20+ but out for the year ...and you throw one back into the the FA pool (in order to release a bench spot if you only have 2 DL spots) it would be unfair if someone could pick that player up for $0 and stash for next year when if kept the price would be $5
I think it's safe to say the consensus is for ESPN - as far as I can see that format does not handle salary so we will need to keep a record of the salaries paid at Auction - there is usually a draft histroy - I don't know if that can be exported to Excel ...if not we will likely have to keep a record of this manually ...prob need to be aware of this fairly early on in case the data is not stored on the league pages.
