Is it just me or are the Chargers way underpriced at the general 5/1 to win the AFC West
By my calculations, if the Broncos win just 1 of their remaining matches (@ Bills or vs Chiefs) then the Chargers are out:
Scenario 1 Broncos beat the Bills but lose to the Chiefs and they finish 9-7. Chargers win their last 2 to also finish 9-7. The H2H is 1-1 and division games is also 3-3 each. However the Broncos have a better common games record (vs AFC East & NFC North) than the Chargers with 5 wins as opposed to the Chargers 4 wins.
Therefore if the Broncos beat the Bills then Chargers CANNOT win the division
Scenario 2 Broncos lose to the Bills but beat the Chiefs and they finish 9-7. Chargers win their last 2 to also finish 9-7. The H2H is 1-1 but the Broncos have a divisional record of 4-2 which beats the Chargers 3-3 so the Broncos win the division
Therefore if the Broncos beat the Chiefs then the Chargers CANNOT win the division
There's a whole load of other scenarios involving various teams finishing tied on 8-8 etc but ultimately the Chargers can ONLY win the division if they finish higher than the Broncos.
I mentioned this pre baltimore game...didnt really matter what the chargers do....they could still make the playoffs but not as div winners...denver basically won the division imo when they got a gift from the gods...or should i say marion barber. Denver couldnt really ask for better fixtures to win the division...win v kansas puts the chargers out of the division race..even a win at the bills will probably do it.
