The NFL is my main sport to bet on.  Here goes my first tip ever on the forums.  Putting myself on the line here because I know I've just give myself the kiss of death by making it public.

No explanation of why I pick what I do.  I don't bet point spreads, just money line.

Cincinnati over Seattle.  Currently 1.75.  Anything over 1.70 is good.

No boasts or crying after the game either.  I don't care if a team wins or loses by 1 point, or if there is a big comeback.  If there is a bad call, or bad bounce, missed catch, missed tackle, bad kick etc, I don't care.  Just the final result.

Cedric Benson suspended, Andy Dalton under center, Qwest Field baying for blood, Tarvaris, Marshawn and Sidney rockin' and rollin' ... 1.75?

Oh man Crazy

Seattle aren't a good team by any stretch of the imagination but get them at Qwest and they're a match for anyone - they've shocked plenty of big guns there, only January when the Saints went there as around 15 point favs only to come unstuck.
I'm with Orioles, I'm keen to get with the Hawks with a start.
Bungals have done little wrong this season but as we approach the second half of the season this is when things start taking shape and Benson is massive for them, I really think they're up against it Sunday....

You can never really take them on with confidence at Qwest but they should be favs here IMO

My my, thanks for the acid dripped compliment Nilsson.  Nice to see you got the address of your website in there...Again.  I went to your site, some nice picking.  Too many picks for my blood, but your recent results look pretty good overall.

Didn't make much on the Cincy game myself because they got out to a big lead and stayed there.  I bet mostly in running.  Glad you made some money swimfast, you probably made more on the game then I did, but there's a chance I made more on the Pittsburg game then you did.

Thanks to everyone for being civil, except orioles. I've read some of your blog orioles, nice write ups.  Too bad about Carolina, but what's with the "Oh man" about my pick. I didn't explain my pick because my criteria is different from most people.

Let's go over your comments, the forum might understand why you pick what you do, and what I consider important.

Cedric Benson out.  So what.  He's just a back, rather easy to replace.
Dalton under center.  So ?  Is having the 14th ranked QB of a 4 - 2 team a detriment ? ( ESPN ranking)
QWest baying for blood.  So ?  Don't all home team fans cheer loudly for their home team.  Cincy faces hostile fans 8 times a year.  I know the stadium is loud, but again, So ?  BTW, it's not called QWest field anymore.  The name changed in the summer.
Tavaris, Marshawn and Sidney rockin' etc.  That would be Tavaris the 21st ranked QB who didn't play last week against Cleveland.  Marshawn Lynch who is having an off yeaar and also didn't play last week.  How about Mr. Rice, who had all of 2 catches against Cleveland.  You rock and roll hard Mr oriole.  1.75 looks pretty good now.

I never object to people tipping on the forum - I'd prefer a more comprehensive write-up and some reasoning, but that's just my taste; it doesn't make it a 'bad' pick if it's just a simple name (and anyway, it's hardly up to me to hand down the rules from on high!)

I expressed my genuine reservations about the pick, and if you think the Benson/Dalton/QWest comments can be genuinely dealt with the way you have above, I'm afraid you're likely to lose a lot of money betting on football, SS.

The Tarvaris/Lynch/Sidney comment was meant as comic sarcasm, to reflect Seattle's rather dubious quality.

One of the reasons I prefer the NA forum is that it's not like soccer, or the nags - tips aren't generally torn apart, or shouted down, or posters jumped on for 'blind' picks. While Nilsson is a law unto himself (and quite possibly insane) I hope we'll never turn into that type of forum.

As for my picks - AVOID!

I'm on a terrible run since being asked to return my blog to BF and yesterday managed to let a friend of mine in the States persuade me my Philly pick was all wrong, and I swapped sides ... Were I not godfather to his daughter, I'd have sent him a bill for the money I flushed on Dallas.

Have a great season, seriously.

i didn't see the andy reid after a bye stat until after the game had started, i was seething when fat danny read that out
Report orioles October 31, 2011 5:28 PM GMT
I quoted that to my buddy (he and I have bet on US sports for a very long time) and he snorted "Well, he's not going 13-0"

The Eagles' O line has been transformed and I'm beginning to think more and more that the lock-out really has 'lagged' some teams - most obviously those that brought in a lot of new bodies. The lag theory is another thing I thought was cobblers - I chatted it over with Aaron when I visited with him out on the West coast in the summer, and we agreed Tongue Out

I have a rule NEVER to swap sides and the loss of the money was nothing compared to my temper at my own stupidity Laugh

I'm letting the game go now.

We disagree orioles on more then a few things, but mainly on
Report Still standing October 31, 2011 10:24 PM GMT
Where did my post go ?  Anyway I don't make picks using conventional, common wisdom. I did for years, and I found out using the same stats and conceptions as everyone else is a losing game.
Benson/Dalton/QWest comments can be genuinely dealt with the way you have above, I'm afraid you're likely to lose a lot of money betting on football, SS.  On the contrary, if you think those are important points, I think you're likely to lose a lot of money.  With the exception of 2 or 3 running backs in the league, in my opinion, the rest are interchangeable.  Marshawn Lynch included.  He's the best on Seattle, but his replacement is likely only .002 % worse. Enough said.

You must have had a well thought out positive view of Philly.  What did your friend say to convince you otherwise ?
Report Still standing October 31, 2011 10:32 PM GMT
Geez.  Marshawn Lynch, Cedric Benson.  Who cares.  I don't anyway.  Go look at the stats and see how Benson's understudy did yesterday.  Cincy did fine without him.  Interchangeable, I tell ya.
Report orioles November 1, 2011 12:06 AM GMT
Cedric Benson is a different back to Bernard Scott.

Scott is a quicker back who tends to run outside; Benson is a bigger back who runs first between the tackles. Obviously, match ups against quick defenses and ones with (say) big interior linemen will mean different things to both men.

To say backs are interchangeable is rather like saying all soccer players are the same - it can't be sensible.

I love the '.002 %' though Laugh
