I think this year has been a great advert for the NFL.

Obviously we have any given sunday and all that but this year there has consistently been 2/3 upsets a week and often more.

Just wondering if anyone can remember a year like this for results.  It has been quite bizarre

It's been great really

Week 17 should be very interesting with all 16 games being divisional matchups. You can see maybe half of those being win-and-in

My strategy always has a large % of public fade incorporated so this season has been better than anticipated so far , good to watch as well for me with with the highlight always MNF with the countdown show to warm us up first , always prefer to watch a lowish scoring game with loads of mistakes rather than a shootout but if it's NFL i'll take anything  Love

I always enjoy the debates with mates who say NFL is dull yet have season tickets to premier lge teams who have no price of winning, finishing top 4 or getting relegated !
There have to be 12 live runners for the superbowl which, at this stage, is ridiculous.
Yes finding winners is tough, but there is always value out there each week (Browns 8/1 to win in New Orleans ?).
Only downside for me is the short season, week 11 coming up and in 11 weeks time it'll all be done

Normally by now I've got an idea of who I expect to be making the last 4 but I'm no nearer at the moment than I was in August.  There has been some very questionable favourites so far:-

Indy - Not as good as last year when they didn;t win it (total 1 man team)
Jets - I don't rate Sanchez Coach questionable and Revis can only beat 1 man per play
Dallas - no explanation needed
Green Bay - RB out for season, other injuries are a worry
Pats - I have them in the green column but only small
Atlanta - Okay if they can stay in the Dome
Giants - they can't keep up with any decent team
Steelers - Overated

So that leaves me with:-
Saints - Chance if they get their RB's back
Ravens - Always seem to give themselves a chance
Titans - Love the offence and Randy Moss could be their X factor

Perhaps it's just one of those weird seasons (like the one Tampa One) and an outsider could win.  Although last nights Eagles performance could be best so far.

I like the saints a lot...Need reg and pierre, could return just in time for the big games.....i see you have picked holes in who you dont like and why you dont like them...you like the titans offence  but the defence is shocking....i think rex ryan has that team believing they are a superbowl team.

jets offence only seems to get going when they need it too, winning games late...pitts offence was poor the year they won until mid way through the season and it picked up.

ravens
jets
chargers

eagles
saints in the nfc...atlanta need home field imo if they want to go all the way.

if you had to pick 1 team...who would it be howie?

Ravens, Eagles Superbowl.  I did back that at the start of the season (BR @ 7's for the AFC and PE @ 12's for the NFC).  I do that every season with the idea if I got it right I would win enough to be able to go to the Superbowl.  I came close last year with the Saints & Chargers bet.

It would be ironic to get it right the year I am actually going to the Superbowl (been saving up 10 years).

So to answer your question it would be Philadelphia Eagles
However Philly is my bogey team I just never seem to back/lay them at the right time.  About 6 years ago my book was +£5,500, down to the last 4 (actually last 3 because the Eagles played second). They had a home game with Carolina to get to the Superbowl, I had flights on standby to take my girlfirend to Philly to watch the game over there - I remember staring at the TV in disbelief as McNabb proceeded to completely blow the game.  I learned more about gambling in that 3 hours than at any other time of my life.  Basically I didn't trade out because I'd boasted about the amount and plans to lay-off in the final.Sad

Howie - far be it for me to query anyone elses views in this ridiculous year, but I do think people are getting carried away with the Eagles.
The East isn't strong IMO, think there are at least 4 other divs that are stronger.
I also think the Skins D can make any offence look good, the yards they're giving up this season are unbelievable compared to their defences of recent years.
I think the Eagles are runners, but think I'd rate the Pack and Falcs more likely to be the NFC rep at superbowl, the AFC for my money is altogether stronger when I consider that the likes of Ravens, Steelers, Fins, Jets, Pats, Titans, 2 of which are likely to miss on post season.

Been following NFL since 03 and don't remember a season where you had pretty much six 9-1 co-favs for the Super Bowl going into Week 11.

It'd be the Pats for me...Brady/Belichick done it all before, always strong at Foxborough so bodes well if they get a good seeding, and no more Moss causing trouble.  Take away the loss @ CLE (where HAS Peyton Hillis sprung from?) and they've done little wrong so far.

I still think Chargers are the best team if they can cut out stupid errors. Will be taking my chances on them.

saints charger may well be the superbowl this year if the chargers can win the div.....thats an unlucky story howie about the eagles v carolina...bet you felt ill at fulltime.

@horse...i dont think anyone is getting carried away,i think its a case of finding a team which isnt in single figures who is capable of winning it...Eagles with vick are a team who are well capable....atlanta need homefield or you can prob count them out, eagles already thrashed atlanta this season, without vick [;)]

surely you cannot even dream of basing anything on one game? now i know you are joking :)
Report HARRY22 November 18, 2010 11:18 AM GMT
No,im basing it on my imo that the saints will prob win the division as they are the better team..and as i said i think the falcons need homefield..even though many people are not giving tampa a chance the falcons have 2 teams to contend with in their div and the eagles have just the 1.

I wouldn't be too sure GB will be the NFC rep, Driver is now injured so Jennings has even more on his plate. With Finley and Grant already gone for the season I can see them struggling on the road if they make the play-offs.

They've done extremely well to be 6-3 considering all that, and injury free they'd be worthy favs, but fate has been cruel this year and they won't make the SB.
Report incaseof November 18, 2010 8:18 PM GMT
So far of the season, a injury free GB would be 4-5ish in the SB market imo...even with all injuries they are one of the top team in NFC...but Saints done the first half of the season now as champs, and are ready to fire again me think, best price in the sb market right now imho.

Eagles playing at their best now, 9s looks horrible consider 6-3 record and 4 matches left vs Cowboys and Giants. But if Vick continues who knows...

I did feel sick but seem to remember I got to £5,500 by backing at really large odds because they started 0-3 or 0-4? Although I had a similar amount on the Saints last year and felt pretty daft placing an £850 bet on New England to insure a win.
Mostly red this year so I'm hoping Philly, Ravens, Saints or (the 49ersLaugh) can make the last 4
Report HARRY22 November 18, 2010 9:37 PM GMT
Howie i wouldnt worry too much..the 1st 3 u named are as strong as anyone..really feel strong about the saints.
