Would appear that the NFL is looking into suspending players for HEAD HUNTING..

How about they get rid of the helmets

Just an idea

Probably a bad one. They brought in helmets because several players every season were being left as paraplegics or worse.

It would never happen Lotone.

Historymaker is correct. Following many serious injuries and thirteen deaths in one year, President Roosevelt threatened to ban the game entirely unless helmets and better safety implements were introduced.

The helmets originally brought in for safety bear no resemblance to the helmets of today though. I can see where the opening poster is coming from as the padding and helmets seem to be usedin an aggressive manor rather than purely for safety, the removal of the padding and helmets may result in the players having a bit more respect for their opponents bodies. Having players threatening to retire because they can't spear somebody in the side of the head indicates to me that the players aren't bothered about the damage they can potentially do.
