Thoughts for the Islanders v Penguins tonight gents?

Evening chaps

Was contemplating backing Tampa giving a start to Montreal as Habs have begun to really struggle lately on the road (these next 2 days won't be much easier for them) but was put off by how close Tampa's matches invariably are.  6 of their last 9 have gone past the distance, and this one could do the same - I reckon 100/30 is probably a bit of value.

Elsewhere, think there could well be goals in LA but enthusiasm for the cash-cow bet of backing Toronto to lose the first period is tempered by the fact that the BJs are the hardest team in the league to predict imo.  Will probably back it out of devilment anyway at 21/10 - its just too tempting Laugh

All the best for the New Year lads.

Not very appealing fixtures tonight - not from what I can see anyway.  Sick that the game at Heinz has been put back with my early start for work Cry.

Only confident pick I have is Tampa to beat the Rangers.  Elsewhere there could be maybe a trace of value in New Jersey tonight?  Bound to go on a run at some stage and the inconsistent Canes may be the fall guys.

Think most of you know what my bet will be in Ottawa Devil but for the record I did have a nibble the other night when I shouldn't have.  17/10 tonight is only just value.

Good luck Grin

Happy new year to everyone as well!

To be honest, I still don't trust on mr.Brodeur nowadays so Devils is not a good one (idea) in my papers at all. They got their 1st win last night for Lemaire thanks to Hedberg who should be between the pipes more often so Devils would win more regularly. Anyway, Brodeur has been named their starting goalie vs Canes tonight who besides have more convinced Ward there so I don't dare to touch this even a penny sorry..

Thinking of backing over 5.5 goals in the Caps/Pens game - what do people think?

Any thoughts on how the venue may affect the number of goals scored (if at all) ?
By:

yes lestrott was thinking the same myself but havent had a bet on nhl for a long time, think maybe game will be more open,a couple of years ago wings played blackhawks and 9 goles in that game ,cant remember last years result

Pens v Caps: I was thinking about go opposite direction by backing both U6.0 & U5.5 for this game. Different venue and circumstances (delays, weather conditions etc) certainly makes it difficult to estimate it all but both teams have played this season somewhere about average 5.6 goals/game which gives some direction. They had a low scoring meeting recently where Pens was the luckiest to win it after OT. I assume it's around 60%(U6.0) somewhere 52-54% max(U5.5). There's some fair prices to take if I'm not wrong but you never know what happens. Good luck!

Yes, HAYDEN. Nothing new there(NJD). They have given too much power for mr.Brodeur outside the hockey rink instead of pure all glory he certainly has deserved. It's never good idea to let someone to make all the big decisions while the career still keep on going. Seen these kind of things happened several minor leagues as well and all in common is no one of those have been made any big success in the long run. Kovalchuk deal was the whole different and unfortunate story which caused lots of bad blood inside the organisation and we have all seen the results this season.

Another game I'm wondering tonight is Oilers v Flames. The market has been reacted quite well during today as gamblers have hit on CGY pretty much. I only wonder why on earth this has happened. This is a divisional game though and CGY also played yesterday another div game. I don't want to overreact all the injuries etc things involved both teams but anyhow just wondering..Shocked

If you haven't played in the winter classic yet be wise to hang fire , with this ice it could be either 0-0 or 5-4 you just can't tell how it's going to play throughout the 60 min

Yes looks like , he's a tough nut that Erskine and love to see him and Matt Cooke have a right go without helmets , with Savard as referee Laugh

Was always going to be a tough choice before puck drop in this one due to conditions tbh , wouldn't have a clue on the outcome myself

These games are always too hard to call I agree. I really hate to see serious games like this playing outside. You can not be 100% mentally and physically as well on there if they(players) say else they are absolute liars imo. I love to see instead of this show games like the oldtimers' game earlier..that kind of games are always nice to watch. Personally I wonder why All stars game is not playing outside every season? Every fan wants to see the best players but rare of them really can see them playing even if they wanted to and even though they would have a chance to see it alive. A capacity of these kind of stadium games is so much different and would be perfect for those kind of show games.

It seems so yes, HAYDEN. Its kind of weird mr.Ruff does not usually change their goalie(if its Miller between the pipes). He did not even do that after 1st even though Miller allowed 4 goals there.

Bruins always do like other teams. Rask was a starting goalie allowing 3 goals in 1st and then it was Thomas turn to show his stuff.

But what happened is Thomas allowed 2 more goals and Miller saved all(13 shots) in 2nd. Just coinsident or not but mr.Ruff has coached the most seasons in the same team of all teams in NHL nowaways. I guess he really knows his team and its individuals. [;)]

Yes busy weekend for Boston with another divisional roadie in Toronto on Monday , always thought it more important for Bruins than most other teams to keep the players rotating and fresh as possible as they play an extremely physical game plan

Caps got their revenge and took well deserved win. It must be great boost for them. Not even shaking hands by teams as usual in stadium games. Pretty ok game after all, not excellent but ok.

Good game that to start the evening and could easily have gone either way , Thrashers win 4-3 in OT
By:

When: 02 Jan 11 20:04
I agree. Once again Thrashers can thank for Byfuglien to score a winner. Also another former-Hawk team mate Ladd scored. Habs did shot amazing 50 shots on Pavelec who basically was stealing the game.

Another an interesting news is Lightning acquired Roloson from Islanders. So, its obvious they dont trust on their rookie goalie Desjardins (2 wins in 2 games by far) as back-up goalie. Roloson has played great lately but as soon as DiPietro came back to their roster it was obvious Roloson became 3rd wheel there. Nice catch Lightning & mr.Yzerman.Cool

One thing for certain is that if you compare a video with say 2 seasons ago with virtually the same unit they're nowhere near as clynical , that said they will be in the play-offs and a team others will want to avoid

At the moment they remind me of a similar spell they went through last season with the common denominator easy to spot.....

Datsyuk was missing in both spells

They have looked fragile at times this season - as though they could be worried out of games.

They are undoubtedly talented, quick thinking.  Think one or two teams would quite fancy them in the playoffs if they can get among them Shocked.  But I don't see as many of their games as you lads - so doubtless I will be off the mark Laugh.

Have you a fancy tonight ND/Hayden?
By:

When: 02 Jan 11 22:06
I think however indifferent their form may be come the play-offs there will be other opposition preferred due to the fact they've been there and done it at the sharp end recently and their streetwise MVP types will step up when it's required , exactly the same with Pens tbh who will terrify the opposition whatever their current form.

Probably exclude Kings from the " fear " group who are young , skilled and daft enough to fear nobody  Laugh

I think Wings' season started much better than expected(even themselves), then they were flying, Howard was amazing(somewhere in time he had only lossed a couple of times in regulation in 35games or something). Wings is a old team with lots of veteran key players.

When they were in the middle of the heavy schedule they started to lose. I know everyone loses sometimes including all teams somewhere in the season(even the next champs) and it became a bad habbit. Howard is not that goalie before he was in that flow..he's good but not perfect anymore. Well, Osgood is something else (at least he finally received his 400th win and it might help).

And now is Datsyuk out. Zetterberg is missing him that's for sure. I even think Z should have played much better this season by far than he has. Filppula has been another dissapointed player. He was the man behind Z and Datsyuk last season when they were injured but not this season. Wings definitely made one mistake when they got rid off Leino(I just hope he will do something nice tonight against his former team).

Kings is surely one team who can beat them at the playoffs. Maybe even Preds might give them a lesson.

Drew - Hawks might be a perfect lay tonight. The market don't rely on Ducks because of Getzlaf is out. They played even better without him 2days ago against Philly. They besides have something to prove after Hawks beat them badly last time.  Hawks also play tomorrow at Kings which might be interest them more I don't know. Anyway, Ducks' odds are too high tonight imo.

Thanks for the thoughts lads.

Working nights this week so if things are quiet will hopefully find time to talk about (maybe even watch Devil) a few of the games.

Just not happening for Detroit tonight - think they are resigned to their fate....

One more thing forgot to mension: Team Finland will beat Russians tonight (U20 WC tournament) starting in 15mins. It's always good play to bet on underdogs(bookies think so not me[;)]). You guys thank me afterwards - I will give the number of my banking account then..[:p]

Laugh Obviously. All the guys I was barking have really started to shine(Filppula, Zetterberg & Osgood) and the one I was thinking to bite them (Leino) was serving a penalty as Wings reduced 2-3pp. That's what I call special expert analysis..[;)]
