Have just read the book after a coupe of recommendations on here, and apparently the film is in production.

Brad Pitt is playing Billie Beane, and Philip Seymour Hoffman as Art Howe, so looks an all star cast.

If it's a fraction as good as the book then i for one can't wait

Great book, of course, but it's hard to imagine the film being anything other than a disaster.

Also, why is there a big fat bloke playing Paul DePodesta?

Read the book 3 times but can't see how it will transfer to a movie at all (certainly the parts of it that appealed to me). Hope i'm wrong, tho.

Is the book very good? Getting some books from amazon, is it worth adding to the cart?

It's excellent, Homer...i've recommended it to several non-baseball fans and they've all enjoyed it.

Thanks Duncan, i'll get it so. Always a big fan of true life stories and would follow baseball quite a bit so sounds like something I would enjoy.

Just looking there on the films wiki page and see they have Johan Hill cast, don't really know much about the character he is playing but would find it hard to buy into him in a baseball movie. Seems more suited to teen comedies and those sort of films.

Second that, not a huge baseball fan beforehand but i read it in a matter of hours and its really ignited an interest in the game. Probably one of the best sports books ever and Michael Lewis is a great author in his own right. After Moneyball i bought four of his other books and they all seem to be page turners!

Filming started last week in Oakland. It'll be a while yet before we see it.

Really got me following the As after the Maguire days. Can see how it has potential to be a good film

I heard that Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing) did the Screenplay.

Really looking forward to seeing it when it's done.
