The 2010 football season is arriving quickly and all the talk on the forum seems to be about the NFL. Is no one else into the college game?
I would imagine it is less popular because it's less televised and maybe harder to understand the formatting etc. But when you get into it it seems much better than the pro game imo.
I follow both levels of the game and am surpised no one else does...
I love the college scene, both basketball and football.
It has never really taken off on here, mainly imo because there is no equivalent level in the uk. Maybe also because people don't want to lose their hard earned on a bunch of amateurs.
Personally March Madness and the bowl games are my 2 favourite events on the sporting calendar.
If only the ncaa college pass was anywhere near as quick as mlbtv

college football is fun to watch no doubt, but i am sorry it is nowhere near as good as the NFL. I like to watch good defensive playes/schemes which are are pretty sparse in college football, and pretty dimensional watching spread offensives the whole time imo

College football CAN be a great watch, but there are a lot of uncompetitive games.
Re: the alignment of the Big 12, PAC 10 etc. - it gets a little silly when you name a conference after the number of members and then add or lose teams.
The Big Ten has has eleven teams since 1990, and will go to 12 next July. The Big 12 is losing two members, and the Pacific-10 is adding two.
So the Big Ten becomes the Big Twelve, and the Big 12 becomes the Big 10? This could get confusing.

Yeah, college football is VERY confusing. Especially the rankings, polls, bowl eligibility, red shirt freshmen, shares of national titles and the NCAA taking away wins from schools.
Then you can get to the confusion of the conference alignments... [smiley:crazy]
Although when you get your head round that college football is very enjoyable...

Bowl eligibility has nothing to do with betting on the game. If you live in a college town, play for a team or support a team you might care, but no one else does. Most bowl games are just money-spinners for the schools and are basically just meaningless end of season exhibitions. When you can qualify for a Bowl with a 50% record, that makes for some poor quality. 36 games or so is just too many. Even teams like Texas get to play some years! Obviously the BCS games are excluded from my comments.
