Heh, poor old Steve, unjustly vilified. Cubs' fans are idiots: Moises Alou would never have got to that foul ball.

Hello leefee. I am a Red Sox fan surprisingly, so I know extreme suffering. I have a soft spot for the Braves given they started out life in Boston, and also my favourite pitcher ever is Greg Maddux. You missed many of the Braves great days in the 1990's when the great triumvirate were dominant (well until they got to the post season where they were merely mortal).

I suspect that you will be waiting a long time before they reach the post season again. Last night the starting 9 had five players hitting under the Mendoza Line.

I think we might be a while regaining recent glories as well.

Hello, my name is ... well ... orioles! I've been a devoted fan of the birds for 27 years (almost to the day) and I'd like to point out that we are 9 - 23. I'm hoping to contract the ebolavirus later in the season, just to lighten my mood.

A few too many fans of good teams sneaking in here. I'll restore the balance by admitting my undying affection for the Cincinnati Reds.

No winning season since 2000 (2000!), no play-offs since 1995 (when we were swept in round one), our long reliever swings a better bat than our centerfielder, Slowlando Cabrera is our lead off hitter and we are managed by a fu ckwit.

Hello fellow addicts.

I am in the early stages of addiction, having only been aware of the games for a few years.
It's only lately I have realised it has become a problem....you know the signs - setting my alarm for midnight, reaading up on the pitchers, scrambling through websites for feeds etc etc.

It's a long story how my problem started, but it invloves being stuck in a bar in Newark airport all evening watching a Yankees game.

Being a newcomer, its hard to claim an allegiance to one team, but I got a real soft spot for the Dodgers!

Some people know already. For those that don't I'm a long suffering Jays fan.
We are slowly rebuilding apparently. We will have to go a long way to erase the fck ups of JP Ricciardi - and as long as Clarence is the manager people like Snider will continue to be benched against lefties because apparently he can't hit them. "Oi Cito. If we're rebuilding then where we finish this year doesn't matter, so put the prospects out there every day and let them learn" At least Anthopoulous hasn't signed anyone like Millar to enable Cito to play him and take bats away from people who matter
Don't be fooled by our 19 - 15 record. We'll close the gap on the O's and finish, probably, below 500.
I still cling to a post season dream. I book 2 weeks off every year, and usually cancel just before the All Star break.
Right, time for my medication.

Saw my first baseball game in 1986 but had no real interest in the sport until being seduced by C5's coverage when I was at uni. Didn't really have a team but rooted for Boston because of it's Irish heritage. The fact that they were perennial losers only added to the allure. Luckily I met a Milwaukee girl in 1999, so avoiding Boston's two WS wins, and have been a Brewers fanatic pretty much ever since. I did consider defecting to Pittsburgh or something when we got to the playoffs riding CC Sabathia's ass! If we had a starting rotation worthy of the name we'd be competitive, Gallardo excepted. In Fielder and Braun we have two superstars, especially Braun who might just be the best player in the game right now. Last time Milwaukee had two stars in the same team was with Robin Yount and Paul Molitor, and they made it to a World Series. I live in hope that this present bunch can emulate them but realistically we have no chance while our starters have a combined ERA of 5.50+.

I no longer care one way or t'other about Boston btw, but my second team is definitely whoever is playing the Yankees. Best game ever? Dbacks winning game 7 in 2001 on my birthday!

Having been to school in DC on my gap year I have painfully followed the Orioles for many years.  However the relocation of the Expos has given me a chance to also lend my support a much more successful side in the Nationals.  Plus they are a NL side which I much prefer.

Though seriously, I reckon the Nats could finish above .500 next year and contend properly in 2012.  Whereas the Orioles...

Sorry guys - i never ever saw this thread before i started the "why do we love baseball" thread.

Anyhoot, I'm a yanks fan and just made the pilgramage to the new stadium last month. I just wished I'd been to the old stadium but you can't have it all in life.

I started watching baseball in 2001 in Yanks V Dbacks Game 7. I only started supporting the Yanks as I thought they were shet as they had been beaten. I hadn't done any research on baseball and didn't really understand the gravity of the world series!

That's my story and baseball is now a major part of my life.

Go Yanks......LaughLaugh
