What aa crazy game, giants offer nothing, and then get a homer
![]() I agree, Phillies look like they will hammer at last one out the park |

Wouldn't think Lincecum has won the last 2 Cy Young's based on this start. Fortunate to have only given up 1 so far.
By:
I like Tim and rate him highly, but this is a poor start from the guy.
Nearly as bad a CC in the first game yesterday |
By:
Umpire doing him no favours there, ball 3 was right down the middle, ball 4 close.
By:
Na that pitch was low to chase
By:
Yeah, it seems he's had a couple of 'borderline' decisions go against him.

Howard
![]() What the hell was he swinging at? |
By:
Phew. HUGE K for Lincecum there, Phillies could have pretty much been out of sight if Howard managed a hit there.
By:
2 runs after 3 innings, isn't great, and should have been more, but its a start.
If Tim keeps going 2-0, then he will be in serious trouble. |

So many people left on base

Timmy struggling to find the strike zone at all.

By:
There'll be plenty more on base at this rate.
By:
so many left on ****ing base
By:
Not really, six through four innings with the score 1-1 is pretty standard.
By:
If you'd never watched baseball before, you wouldn't think these 2 had a no hitter and a 2 hit shut out respectively in their last starts.

Not really, six through four innings with the score 1-1 is pretty standard. 6 from 8 hits is anything but 'standard' 2-1 Giants Ross AGAIN! |
By:
*7 hits even.
By:
The average number of LOB per game over a season is about 14, or 1.55 per inning (for both teams combined). 6 LOB after 4 innings is 1.5 per inning, looks pretty standard to me.
By:
You are comparing it to everyone over a season.
San fran are low scorers, and therefore don't get as many on base. Either way, it's still a large amount. |
By:
*even if it is 'average'
By:
Of course if you're needing runs, every LOB is a potential run so it distorts your view.
Looking at the Giants specifically, they were 19th this season in MLB for OBP. Just below average, so there are 11 teams with fewer men on base this past season. |
By:
7th of 16 in the NL too, since AL teams get more men on base generally with pitchers not having to hit.
By:
I assume by the first line of your comment you are accusing me of being biased, which I must tell you I've got 50's and 25's (as previously mentioned) on Giants for the world series, so I'm not sure why i would be biased as they are 2-1 and it's going my way, but fair enough

The Giants get pretty much an average number of men on base, the two teams had pretty much the average number of men left on base the first four innings.
I don't see how that can be anything but pretty standard. You said it wasn't. I disagree. |

Looked a clear home run off the bat, but didn't matter as he scored anyway. Agree, and Phillies have every right to be unhappy, pitch before looked a strike out |
By:
Looked like it only just missed the strike zone when they replayed it/
By:
It's been a strange game. The strike zone looked pretty big the first two innings, but then suddenly he is calling everything close a ball. All you want is consistency and the umpire hasn't been.

BOTL - I think thats what keeps most big punters away from MLB.
I've not been on this forum often but I remember Lori (who seemed to create most the markets) giving it up, and I think that was one of the reasons. This game should really be 2-1, as it was a strike (imo) but I can't moan. Got Giants for the World Series and over 7.5 this game, so it's either 1-0 Giants for the series, or I win my bet. Either way i can't moan, and you never know, Giants could win 7-1 ![]() ![]() |
By:
Lori was a relatively small player according to himself. I was for a long time Betfair's large baseball gambler in terms of turnover, and still was this season last I heard. You can win on the sport, you just need to be very strict as the margins are tight.
