Blimey id make a case for about 20 teams i think, The nfl is getting more and more competitive. Apart from the obvious few that cant win it, theres plenty that can.

stand out at the moment imo.

though its all about the schedule as has been proven this year, not just who you play but when and where. colts and saints both had very nice starts, then once you get off to a good start the momentum can keep you going. but the colts always look a good bet to get top seed in the afc, which is what its all about. doesnt matter who actually wins the superbowl- thats fairly irrelevant. its all about who gets top seed in the afc. from a financial point of view at least.

people always look to back the fringe teams, but theres no point.

jets, bungles, ravens etc arent going to win 14/15 games to get top seed. just simply isnt going to happen. so you back them now at 20/1 thinking youve got value, when even if they make the playoffs they could be twice that price anyway. its not about the playoffs, and whos going to win or whos not going to win, its 100% about top seed. and the afc team is pretty much guaranteed to be fav in the superbowl so the afc top seed is the team you need to back now. and realistically it cant possibly be anyone outside colts, pats, steelers, chargers because nobody else is going to win 14/15 games.

San Francisco and Seattle Seahawks could be a decent bet (with a view to trade) with no Kurt Warner at Arizona that division opens up big time.

I actually thought the Saints needed this year as a buildup to next year. Wouldn't be surprised if they repeated now.

Jets might be interesting with Sanchez as a non-rookie

Ravens would be another decent longshot I imagine.

Cardinals might have one last shot depending on what happens at QB

if Redskins somehow manage to pick up Suh in the draft they could become interesting

Don't give up on the Cardinals, they can still take down what is still a weak division, and then who knows in the playoffs. Warner is obviously a huge miss, but hopefull Matt Leinart can fulfill his potential as a Heisman winner. They just need to improve their defence.

The scedh are already done as in who faces who, but the fixture list wont be out for a while.

Cunny i do take your point to a degree, but you can get value on teams to lay off later in the season. I know you mentioned the afc that cant be missed, but the wouldnt have thought the saints woiuld be nfc top seeds, yet they were still value imo to bet then at 25's.
I also backed cards the year before at 65's 70's etc and giants the year before that at 95's. Lucky bets i suppose but you do get value.

Main bet next season will be the Steelers as with a healthy Polamalu and if they can upgrade their o-line and get back to running the ball with Mendenhall see them potentially dominating.

Giants, Miami and Falcons all hold potential value but hard to tell until after the draft and any offseason trades are done!

Id take the Packers and Colts

At the minute my value bets would be

Redskins @ 66/1
Panthers @ 66/1
49er's @ 50/1

Possibly Texans @ 40/1

With a view too trade at a later date. I particularly like the Redskins with a new coach and potentially in an uncapped year.

The teams i would back now and probably not trade off would be the Steelers @ 14/1 and the Packers @ 18/1.

I do like the Chargers team, but how anyone can back them to win the Superbowl right now would be beyond me. LT isn't coming back, which isn't a bad thing, but they have to replace him and the 12TD's he got last year. They also have Jackson, Osgood, McNeil, Merrimen all up for contract talks this year! I personally hope they can somehow get CJ Spiller in the draft, i think he's a perfect fit for Chargers. If they can keep the above starters and pick up Spiller i will be a huge fan, especially with Jamal Williams coming back.

Although i think the Saints were a very deserved winner this year and played great football. They lived and died on Turnovers, this year they seemed to have an unbelievable amount of turnovers and all at the right times during the games, i just can't see them generating the same turnovers and think they may finish around the 9-7 mark. And a tougher schedule to come!

Panthers is a great shout imo

if they get a decent QB they could easily go a long way

I think Matt Moore is a decent QB, just look how he finished last season. Once he was finally given the chance.

Not with John Fox in charge.

Only started running the ball late in the year, then shock horror, they started to win. I just dont trust him to not outthink himself again.

Too much is made of this possible uncapped year.

It'll now take 6 seasons to get full UFA status, and there really aren't that many players coming to the end of a 6 year contract this year! Additionally teams can now use a Transition AND Franchise tag to restrict free agency.

Out of that list; 1 perhaps 2 players could be considered as elite. They will not improve the Redskins anywhere near enough to get to the post-season let alone the SuperBowl. Besides, DL/LB is probably the skins strongest area.

i have a sneaky feeling that Houston will hit the ground running and yes i am biased but i just think if they make the play offs they could be lethal...decent value at 40s out there imo

although got a bit drunk on monday after celebrating NO winning and decided to have 30 at 100 on cleveland - dont laugh - i am sure there is logic there somewhere - however, maybe i should have donated it to charity in hindsight....it could be a live runner, but i doubt it...made me smile though when i saw it tuesday and was like wtf????

Jets are going to blossom next season. So many key positions already amptly filled.
