I'm an NFL rookie, so need some help working out some of these lines.

1) Patriots @ Texans

Apparently Pats and Bengals are still battling for 3rd seed in the playoffs. With Pats playing an early game, surely the incentive will be on them to win so as to put pressure on the Bengals who are playing later.

Although the Pats have been ordinary on the road this year, I can't see them losing by 8 to the Texans here. Other than a blowout loss against the Saints, the Pats 4 other road losses have been by 7, 3 and 1 (twice) point(s).

Tempted to back Pats straight up and definitely on the HC.

2) Redskins @ Chargers

The Skins are 1-6 away from home this season. Chargers are on a 10 match win streak, and surely momentum counts for something going into the playoffs.

3) Bears @ Lions

Detroit are pretty gash (their only wins have come against the Redskins and the Browns this season). Whilst the Bears haven't been at all good this season, they have picked it up the past couple of weeks, and will surely be looking for another strong performance to finish the season (cue Cutler throwing 5 interceptions).

Backed all these in singles on here and got Pats +7.5, Chargers -3 and Bears -3 in an acca at Hills.

Thoughts please? :-)

pats i disagree on, thou they may cover. bengals playing at jets who have to win to make the playoffs and id imagine the bengals will rest players as they have to play next week, the number 3 and 4 seed wont make too much diffrence imo. Also the texans have an outside shot at the playoffs. Im pretty sure the pats will play their starters for a while but not the whole game.

Skins - chargers again some off the same reasoning to resting players but rivers is starting the game, id just want to see for sure how long he and some others will play. At least volek has played in the nfl id prob still take the chargers depending on the time starters play.

Bears seems decent at -3

Either way on the 1st 2 games id be looking very closely in running when their starters get pulled to get out off any bets i was involved in, as you saw with the colts last week.

Hard to say how long the Patriots main players play. They are saying the right things so they it could turn out to be a great price but caution necessary.

Chargers playing for nothing and will surely be playing all second stringers in the second half.

Bears/Lions an ugly pre season type game, who knows. Bears played nice on MNF but maybe the motivation won't be in place for this meaningless affair.

Although the Bears/Lions is totally meaningless in the greater scheme of things, it is still a divisional matchup so both team will be trying to some extent.

Not one I would want to get too involved in though

This seems like a fair 2/1 shot , with Ladcrooks..

Denver Broncos 1/5
Tennessee Titans 5/12
Baltimore Ravens 1/6
49ers 2/7
New York Jets 1/5

Fingers crossed...

The titans are the form team but i think they are abit short today and will maybe have 1 eye on just getting chris johnson his rushing yds. Seattle are pants thou.
I also like the chiefs on the spread today, broncos wr's either suspended or injured, hate backing my chiefs but i think they will cover the 12.5 today as denver will just want to get the win so they have a shot at the playoffs.

Panthers should beat a rested saints team aswell, even without deangelo, the panthers are playing very well at the minute.

Havent looked at other games yet.

Tampa are flying under their new qb and are already looking at next year. Atlanta on the road are playing for nothing and will probably have little interest. Tampa plus 2.5 looks ok...
San Fransico are away to St. Louis and even though both are dead in the water Singletary will be looking for a closing win. They have played quite well in the last few weeks and the defense is carving up opposition so -7 looks credible.
Chicago -3 against Detroit looks the banker of the weekend. Even though Cutler and co have been flimsy enough I think they have enough in hand to smash through the Lions on this occasion.
Tennesse -4 away to Seattle is achievable also. After a horrendous start to the campaign the Titans are now well in to were they should be. Seattle are garbage and will only be looking to finish this season off..

For the Falcons a win against the Bucs today will mean that they will have recorded back to back winning records in their history.
Report JustWinBaby January 3, 2010 12:20 PM GMT
That should read back to back winning seasons....

anyone else agree that they have put Bengals vs Jets in the primetime slot to keep the bengals honest?
