I thought the play call on 3rd down was wrong, should have loaded up and tried to power over for a couple of yards, even if Maroney had been stopped short it would have only meant very short yardage for the next play.

Only game in the world where allowing the other team to score might actually make sense. I think I would have kicked it but once he goes for 4th Down and comes up hort I would tell my D to let them score on there 1st play ( he obviously had no confidence in them ) and give brady a min and loose change to try and pull my bacon out of the fire.

Especially when they got to the 1 yard line with first and goal. What was the point in trying to stop them then as it was obvious barring a offensive holding penalty they would get in.

to be honest i thought by the time it got to that stage all sense had been thrown out of the window.
Easy to talk after the event and if the Pats had thrown a first down and won the match every body would have been hailing BB as the new messiah BUT i did think after the abortion of the 3rd down play, the punter should have given it the big hoof and the defence asked to play the downs of their life.

no bad call, get 2 yards and kill game, verses punt 2 indi 30 and watch peyton , against prevent def , fetch it back 2 pats 30 in 2/3 easy plays. brave call and % call against peyton

tbf in hindsight its easy talking about it after whether the call was right or wrong its gone now , but they will still make the p/o's, watching it again i feel they got that call on the field wrong and he was over the line when he caught the ball, if it was at home new england would probably have got the call , even so i was hugely impressed with the patriots in the way they have improved from the first 2-3 games of the season, its clear to see that brady has got his confidence back and that spells problems for every team new england has to play over the next few weeks , ive had a big bet on them pre seaon for the superbowl and after the first few games my slips were heading towards the bin, even though they lost, i still have the confidence not only because they have improved so much, but there just doesnt seem to be a team out there who is impressing atm , new orleans keep pinching games against rubbish oppsoition, who seem to manage to score2-3 td's against them, brett favre, eli manning like to throw 3-4 interceptions a game, mcnabb, rivers, romo just find it impossible to get it done when ther is pressure on them and finally peyton just feel that he does have a few games where he finds it hard , and throws the odd interception , and personally i just dont think the colts are good enough

i find it hard to see why ppl think that the colts are the better team after this game..
other than belichicks ballsy as fk call... i think the pats were mostly in full control..
and any coaching issues or problems in a play off game id expect belichick to overcome..

good write up davescrazy, put into words my thoughts exactly.
Lets not forget the Pats had a fumble from the RB (first fumble from that postion all season which must be a record?) 2 yds out, a throw into the endzone to Moss which was intercepted by Superman i thought , he came from knowhere and flew through the air.
On any given sunday that would have been 14pts 99% of the time, put the two bad calls in and were looking at 48 - 21 which just about summed up the game proper.

YES! They had to let Addai score when there was still about 90 seconds left!
Then back BRADY to work his magic and get the winning FG! There was no stopping Colts from inside the red zone with momentum, crowd and a man named PEYTON throwing the rock!!!!
The Pats were too conservative with their playcalls in the 4th period! Understandably they had to RUN time off the clock, but when you got such a TERRIBLE rushing attack - you gotta throw it and tack on the points!!!!
Why do teams get so DEFENSIVE with the lead???? Always seems to cost them in the end!!!!

it was pretty much the most one-sided game ive ever seen where the team in control actually lost. and i made money on it so definitely not the pocket talking. the colts defense was shown up really badly, patriots are a team that really can win without homefield advantage so i think they have to be taking very seriously after that performance. if they meet again and both play to that standard the pats win about 95% of the time.

I backed the Pats to win this game and whilst i was gutted i lost my doh, this was one of the best games i've ever seen and enjoyed every second of it. What a finish!
I was happy with BB decision to go for it on 4th down. The Pats D looked nackered at the end of the game and i would prefer to put the game in the hands of Brady than on my D. Agree that they should have let addai go in with 90 secs left and let Brady try to get FG, especially with Gostkowski as your kicker.
If you look at Manning's 4-TD drives prior to the game winner, you can see why BB made that decision. Note the previous 3 Indy possesion resulted in 2-TD's using less than 3mins 54 secs on the clock and 1-INT(only because Reggie ran wrong route).
Q1 (15 yd. pass to Addai) 8 plays - 90 yards - 3 mins 28 secs Q2 (20 yd. pass to Wayne) 8 plays - 80 yards - 3 mins 02 secs Q4 (29 yd. pass to Garcon) 5 plays - 79 yards - 2 mins 04 secs Q4 (4 yd. run from Addai))6 plays - 79 yards - 1 min 49 secs
Do you really want to give Manning the ball with 2.08 on the clock in a pressure situation against a tired D, especially after he has scored all his 4-TD's in 10 mins 23 secs.
Good call bad execution. Pats really looking strong now tho.
