Everytime I walk into a gambling forum or even an at my neighborhood I hear the same thing! If you gamble at the end you will lose.. Well I don't think so and here are some thoughts of a winning player for 3 years...
To beat betfair you need three things:
- Good predictions at some sports (better than the average at least)
- Good Bankroll management
- Self-Control, Discipline and Understanding of how the system works
The truth is that many of us have the first, fewer the second and even fewer the third. I have mastered the first two one parts and I am on my way to master the third one on my way to earn even more and make a living from it. I will be happy to share any thoughts or predictions on the sports I bet which are tennis, nba and some major football leagues..
From now I will staring posting my thoughts on many famous tips and tactics for being a successful player, which ones I use and why and I will be happy to share my experiences and knowledge with you guys!
Well the first year I was about 1000 euro up with a very low ROI due to some titled bad runs.. In the second year I was about 3000 euro up I was playing fairly better than the first year but still tilted some times! This year I have started very well! I am up 8000 with ROI about 25%. However my predictions are about 56% corrects with average odds 2.06 so I know I should have earned way much more according to my EV. Due to tilt and some bad bankroll managements moves I have given away much money! However I can see my game improving and I am very positive about this year! I will write articles soon about the most important things you need in my opinion to be a winner! :)
Although we use betfair in different ways you're absolutly right, good bankroll management and discipline are key factors in successful punting. I like to trade, so rather than choose a team that I think will will, i select a market I beleieve will move but the same rules apply.
I also think if you are straight up betting on selections, another thing you need is an appriciation for Price. If you bet at consistantly value prices in the long run you will win.
Very good improve No1book , maybe the next year can live from the bookies
.. , Man moth for me the trading is the best way but less funny , for
example traded moto 2 races in live market is very good because the bikes
are same engine and many riders can win and the prices up and down constantly ..
No1Book
You seem to have the credentials to make a living from betting. If you want help in mastering the third area, I would be glad to help. I am currently setting up business as a coach to people who bet. As you have said many have mastered the first two arts, it is the third one is there downfall, this is where I enter and help to eradicate the problem, paving the way for a long term successful punting life.
It's certainly possible, if it isn't included in "how the system works" I would eb tempted to include familiarity with the markets and prices in relation to events.
I would certainly admit to having poor bankroll management, mainly from drawing funds rather than reinvesting. (As expected, I would say...) Next time I hit a good streak I intend on leaving hte cash in and re-working the staking levels. That said, I'm happy with my long run profitability and my bankroll is more a theoretical amount I'm up, which I have a very good measure on.
Be very interested to see what you tip up with analysis. Good post, and valid points for a good start. Obviously there is more to it than this, but very true pal. I'm following you now so like I said, let's see your tips. ;o)
