The likes of [b]Alastair Cook[/b] and Jonathan Trott will be glad to be home already. They got absolutely thrashed in the ODI series and I'm sure they won't have been in the mood for a one-off T20 match against an Indian side high on confidence and littered with in-form players.
The irony of it is that it's England, not India, who are the T20 World Champions and the number one ranked side in the world. But we must put that into context. For starters England have played very few T20 matches in the sub-Continent and if their ODI record is anything to go by, if they'd played many more I'm not sure that they would be top of the pile. Then we need to remember the manner of England's World Cup win. They played the whole tournament with virtually the same XI (they had no injuries) and chased...

I can't see Sri Lanka finding a way back into this Test series so it's not unreasonable for plenty of England cricket fans to already be thinking about the India series later on in the summer. An obvious area of concern ahead of that is the form of Andrew Strauss. Or more specifically, his recent trend of being pinned LBW against left-armers. If he's getting out that way to Chanaka Welegadara, we can almost picture Zaheer Khan back in India watching on TV licking his lips and setting a himself a few personal targets in terms of how many times he's going to get the England captain out.
Then there's Duncan Fletcher. The workaholic India coach for whom attention to detail is the be-all-and-end-all, as I can testify. He'll be making notes of Strauss' recent vulnerability to left-armers coming...

England blew a fantastic opportunity to get their second win of the ODI Series during the week and on Sunday morning they have one last chance to beat the Aussies. After that, they fly back home and have a grand total of three days in the UK before flying out for the start of the World Cup.
Yes, you read that right, three days. Is it any wonder that England have never won the World Cup when more often than not they have to take on the world's best on the back of a long Ashes tour? I know our lads in the army are sometimes away for four month spells - and I have the greatest of respect for them - but sport is a little different. Duncan Fletcher complained about how little recovery time we had in between the 2002-3 and the 2006-7 Ashes Tours and the World Cups but no-one listened. Or at...
