Pontefract

Bet on: Farlow
Best Odds: 2.75 at
Stake: 5 % bankroll (100 units)
No Bet Under: 2.50

Clearly one of the stables lesser lights but the inform Beckett yard looks to have found another suitable race for this chestnut to complete his hat trick. Like stable mate Redvers earlier this week he has to defy a 6 pound penalty but it is significant that Redvers also had an entry in this race. Farlow is also entered at Windsor on Monday night and in Donohoe have a very able deputy for Jim Crowley. When Donohoe last teamed up for this handler he steered the well backed favourite Compton to success. This is his only ride at the meeting after riding at Haydock this afternoon.

5f Cond Stakes 19:25
Newmarket (JULY) 15/07 20:25

Bet on: Dinkum Diamond
Best Odds: 2.50 at
Stake: 5 % bankroll (100 units)
No Bet Under: 2.20

Very consistent colt who has yet to run a bad race from just 9 starts. Has only 2 wins to his credit but has put up some fine efforts in top class company and this race represents a big drop in class. Will be without regular partner Dane O'Neill but in William Buick has a first class replacement. Can gain a well deserved win here.

Bet on: Tickled Pink
Best Odds: 1.80 at  james
Stake: 5 % bankroll (100 units)
No Bet Under: 1.60

This well bred grey filly put up an eye catching performance on debut at Leicester when despite racing alone in the centre of course she led well inside the final furlong only to be beaten by the heavily backed and highly regarded Stoute filly Russeliana who went on to be 2nd in the Cherry Hinton. 1 and 1/2 lengths back to the 3rd Pearl Diva who next time was 2nd in the listed Empress stakes. As with the stables winner yesterday Elbe she is certain to improve considerably for that first effort and she has entries in the Lowther and the Moyglare.

SOUTHLAND vs WAIKATO
ITM Cup 15/07 9:35

Bet on: WAIKATO +4.50
Best Odds: 1.80 at
Stake: 5 % bankroll (100 units)
No Bet Under: 1.65

Lineups :

Southland : Robinson - Wells, Lynn, Saunders, Horton - Eade, Cowan - Hardie, Dixon, Taylor - Nally, Bekhuis - King, Rutledge, Mackintosh (C)

Replacements : Hall, Barrett, Tuineau, Taituli, Rangitohereri, Lew, Cornforth, Peterson

Waikato : Renata - Sivivatu, Tokula, Willison, O'Donnell - Donald, Kerr-Barlow - Holah, Bradley, Vant Leven - Graham, Lynn - White (C), de Malmanche, May

Replacements : Cummings-Toone, Smith, Middleton, Hohneck, Leonard, Mikkelson, Schuster, Tauroa

I expected Waikato to be favourite in this game, so I take the opportunity. The bookies think they are outsiders for this game. Waikato had a good preseason, ended by a very good win against Taranaki (31-13). They are not missing many players for this game, and are far from full-strength. O'Donnell apart, all the players have been playing in Super Rugby earlier in the season, with the Chiefs. The Mooloos have named a very strong lineup, to start this campain with a win. On the other hand, the Stags have played only one preseason game, lost against Otago (13-08), and are missing players for this game, like Tuineau or Boys. Eade is a new-comer in this team, and he should struggle to organize well Southland's offensive game plan, because he is lacking experience. The front row and the center combination apart, Southland looks weak enough, and I expect Waikato to win this game, even if they are away from home.

PS : note that you can take Waikato +3.5 @1.85 on BWIN.

OTAGO vs NORTH HARBOUR/ITM Cup

Bet on: Under +40.50
Best Odds: 1.83 at
Stake: 3 % bankroll (60 units)
No Bet Under: 1.70

First game of 2011 ITM Cup, between Otago and North Harbour. After a pathetic 2010 season, Otago are now totally focused on 2011, with plenty of interesting new signigs, among them Brown, Atiga, Ramsay, Verbakel. They have a strong forward back, well-balanced in all raws. North Harbour were very poor defensively last year, but with Rudy Wulf in the team this year, just transfered from Toulon, which should captain the defensive line. Both teams did well in preseason games, and looked very decent defensively. North Harbour have trained hard on their defence, while Otago should give all they have in this home game, which looks like a redemption from last year awful season. Weather conditions are difficult actually in Dunedin, 3°C, 40 km/h wind, feeled temperature of -3°C, and showers or rain by the night. I can't see either team playing a running rugby in this already not to lose game against two teams which look like favorite to be promoted in Premiership next season.

Lingfield Park 17:00

13 Jul 11 17:24
Lingfield Park-6f Handicap 17:00

Date:13-07-2011
Bet on: Redvers

Best Odds: 1.91 at  Stanjames.com

Stake: 5 % bankroll (100 units)

No Bet Under: 1.63

Verdict

All his six runs have been over today's distance and he is in good form having won two of his last three races. Last time at Bath he made late headway and had to be switched before going through a gap to win on the post. The Beckett stable continue to go well and they had a very well backed winning favourite at Windsor on Monday night with Compton. Redvers also has an entry this week at Pontefract on Friday night. The booking of Harry Bentley is a big plus with his valuable claim offsetting most of the penalty incurred for last times win.Laugh

REDS vs CRUSADERS

14 Jul 11 11:34
Bet on: CRUSADERS
Stake: 2%

Lineups :
Reds : Lance - Davies, A.Faingaa, Tapuai, Ioane - Cooper, Genia - Robinson, Samo, Higginbotham - Horwill (C), Simmons - Holmes, S.Faingaa, Daley

Replacements : Hanson, Shepherdson, Wallace-Harrison, Schatz, Gill, Prior, Chambers

Crusaders : Marshall - Maitland, Fruean, Williams, Guildford - Carter, Ellis - Mac Caw (C), Read, G.Whitelock - S.Whitelock, Thorn - O.Franks, Flynn, Crockett

Replacements : Mac Donald, B.Franks, Romano, Todd, Fotuali'i, Berquist, Crotty

Here we are, final of the Super Rugby 2011 edition. The Reds host the Crusaders in Brisbane. After last week semi-finals, I have to admit that I have been really impressed by the way Crusaders' pack demolished Stormers' one. I expect them to do the same against Reds' pack, which is not that powerful. As a consequence, Genia and Cooper, who are brilliant behind a dominant pack, should be more common behind a dominated pack. Crusaders have more experience in their team, and are used with this kind of win-or-die games. It's the first final for the Reds in 21th century, and they should feel too much pressure, like the Stormers did last year against the Bulls.

Nevertheless, it's a final, away from home, so a small stack is required in this game.
