Have a read through the the instructions below before you start - there are some illustrations along the way which will hopefully be the same as you'll be seeing on your computer screen.  There's no need to leave the thread, everything will be done with the thread open. By the way, the word 'click' means left-click on the mouse.

Step 1

Firstly, we'll save the image of Skinto that's shown above to your Desktop by right-clicking on the image and moving the cursor across and to the right to highlight 'Save image as'.

Then click on the words 'Save image as' while they are still highlighted.

A smaller screen, the 'Save As' screen, will appear.

Step 2

On the left-hand side of the 'Save As' screen, click on 'Desktop' and in the 'File name' box we'll give the picture a name. We'll name it 'Skinto' for the purpose of this tutorial.

There may already be a mixture of numbers and letters showing in the 'File name' box - just delete them and type in 'Skinto'

Finally, click on the 'Save' button.  The window will automatically close and and the Forum will be back in view.

Step 3

Now you've got the photo saved on your desktop you can click on the 'post reply' button on the thread.

Click on the 'insert photo' button.

The 'Photo Manager' screen will appear.

Click on the 'upload photos' button and then on the 'Add from my computer' button. The 'Open' screen will appear line this.....

Step 4

Locate the image by clicking on 'Desktop' and scrolling down the list of items on the right to find the 'Skinto' image.

Click on the image name so that it appears in the 'File name' box and then click on 'Open'.

That window will close and you'll return to the 'Photo Manager' screen which will look like this...

[   This image is no longer available.   ]

Click on the 'start upload' button..

Once it has uploaded give the photo a caption/name; let's stick with 'Skinto' and then click on the 'finished' button.

Step 5

The 'Photo Manager' screen will reappear and you'll see your photo 'Pending Approval'. Left click on the photo itself and you'll see a sort of beige-coloured border appear.

Now right-click on the photo itself (not the beige border) and then left click on 'Copy image URL' and close the 'Photo Manager' window.

Nearly finished now Love

At last, Step 7

Place your cursor in the 'Post your reply' box, right-click and then in the small window that appears move your cursor across to the right and down and click on 'Paste as plain text'

Delete the characters /thumb from near the middle the link and insert right at the end of the link's location.  Last but by no means least, click on the 'post reply' button.

Good luck.

Hello Terry, this is Caroline, Paul's Granddaughter. Having a problem with the "insert photo button". I have clicked on "post reply" and there is no option for inserting an image.

Hi Caroline

Are you on Step 3 then?
Report TheNorfolkMafia February 27, 2015 8:07 PM GMT
Hi Terry, I have read your instructions. I have yet to download a photo because I wanted to make sure I can progress first. Step 3 is where this issue is, I have tried right and left clicking the "post reply" button to get the option of "insert image" but when I left click nothing happens and when I right click I get different options for example "back" "reload" etc.. I can't see the option your instructions said I would.

Caroline, you should be seeing this when you click on the 'post reply' button.....

[   This image is no longer available.   ]

Then you can click on the 'insert photo' button to proceed.

Just a thought, my operating system is Windows 7 - maybe that's a factor.

If you're not seeing what I'm seeing we may have a problem.

This computer is Windows Vista, that's all I know. I understand what you're expecting me to see but it's not appearing. I have a feeling because this computer is so old, we may not be able to proceed.

I think I had Vista on my previous laptop and don't recall any problems posting images.

Can't understand why you're not seeing the 'insert photo' button.

Perhaps we should call it a day for the time being and I'll see if I can find someone with Vista and ask a few questions.

Thank Caroline for her efforts and apologise to her on my behalf for taking up so much of her time.

I'll keep you updated.

TNM - a few questions for you.

1.  Are you viewing the Forum in the 'New Community' or 'Community Classic' mode?

2.  Are you looking at the posts on this thread in 'live view' or 'standard view'?

3.  Look at the Forums menu on the left of the screen. Have you got My profile showing?  (It's normally displayed near the
bottom of the list so scroll all the way down)

Hi Terry, this is Caroline again,

1. We are viewing the forum in 'New Community'
2. We are looking at the posts in "live view"
3. We can see "my profile" on the left side of the screen.

Hi Caroline

Thanks for the reply.  Your answers to questions 1 and 3 were what I was hoping for.

I think the problems lies with the fact that your looking at the posts in 'live view'.

[   This image is no longer available.   ]

Hopefully that will do the trick.

Just to mention, I noticed when finding out more about Windows Vista this morning that the wording in some of the small windows that appear after right-clicking on something are slightly different to those used in my tutorial.  In saying that it should be apparent which one you need to click on.

Hoping for better luck this time. Grin

I very much appreciate all the time and effort you have put in trying to help me and I genuinely wanted to learn, but sadly as with many other attempts to download files it will not allow me to do so!
