Hi - I've installed firefox 4 and extras doesn't work anymore.  Are there any plans to get a version for FF4 please as the watch list is the best part of betfair?  Thanks.  PS hope you liked the plug I gave in the last 'forum chat'

OK - how about with FF5 then?  Which version of Firefox will we get before a response to this thread?

Hi - I just wandered by to see what was going on and found this thread. My job's changed a fair bit since knocking out Betfair Extras (so apologies for not seeing this before) but I'll try and find a bit of time to sort this out either Tuesday or Thursday this week so long as it's something simple like the version numbers now going higher than anticipated (which is quite likely).

And billy, yes, I did notice your plug in the live chat and had a little smug chuckle. Thanks!

I've got a few bits to do first but then I'll look at it this afternoon. If I can't get it published today I'll either put is somewhere else you can get at, or offer to email it back to those that email me (I can't look up your email addresses).

A quick update - I've got it running in FF4 and FF5, so am just having to remind myself how to get it deployed to trigger an update.

Apologies all but I can't track down the person I need with the access rights to update the requisite files on labs.betfair.com, so this will have to wait until tomorrow. The watch window page (always served from labs.betfair.com) needs updating too, so I can't just email out the new XPI - it won't do you any good until the labs page is updated.

Sorry about that, but we're nearly there...

I'm still on fox 3.6.18 and since last week I can't access the watch window either.

I wondered if it was related to the fox update so I rolled it back but still the watch window didn't work.

Then I tried disabling fox 'better privacy' in case an update to that had caused the watch window problem, but still no go.

Another problem I have is that I can't login to chat any more, always get 'authentication failed' without having changed any settings.

Does anyone know of any software you can buy that provides the feature of the watch window?  It is such a useful feature but has always been sidelined at Betfair so if there were standalone software, I'd pay for it.

FF v3.6.18 is one of the versions I tested with the latest version of Extras and it's working. This has just been published but I've noticed I've stupidly left a bit of debug code so don't update just yet.

More haste, less speed...

And it's there. v2.1.21 is the one to look for (2.1.20 was my debug version).

If you still have problems (other than the known problems you were putting up with before it all stopped working) let me know. While it's still fresh in my mind it may be trivially fixable.

I also fixed the silks images in the watch window, although I doubt that was a widely used/cared about feature!

florimel, let me know if you still have problems and I'll try and work out what's going wrong for you. I think Extras chat has stopped working because of internal infrastructure changes - there's been a lot of restructuring going on so I suspect the required chat server has moved or has been accidentally killed. I'll find out.

Florimel, one thing we did find on Extras was not to close the betfair tab (by for instance opening a new website) and then going back to the betfair website.  Although you stay logged in, the watch list disappears.

v2.1.22 now.

No updates for ages and then three come along at once...

Hi and thank you.

I downloaded version 2.1.22 about an hour ago.   It didn't work on my system and now the labs tab has disappeared...

Hi, I removed the Labs tabs because I noticed the tabbing system had changed and it needs a rethink to work tidily. I presumed no-one would miss it (or notice it - how wrong was I).

Could you describe what happens? Do you see the Extras icons next the runners (or the market heading)? Does the watch window pop up after clicking the watch icons? If it does, is it staying empty?

I noticed it because I was off to labs to try a fresh download Larry.
I've lost all sign of ever having had fox extras - the icons, everything.

How do I access labs now, without a tab btw?

labs.betfair.com

Extras will be the top thing as it's the most recently changed.

Within Firefox you could select Add-ons from the Tools menu to see if Extras is still there, is the latest version, and is definitely enabled.

Or just go to the Labs page and install again.

Hi, Thanks Larry.

I checked the add-ons and had the latest version, enabled.   So, given that no icons show up next to markets, I uninstalled it, went to labs and re-downloaded it.  I'm still not getting any icons next to markets, although I can bring up the watch window with saved stuff in it from 2nd July by using the icons along the top.

Are you using multiple tabs or multiple instances of Firefox at once?

Are you using the exchange view, not the racecard view?
By:
florimel
When: 08 Jul 11 17:21
Multiple tabs no

Multiple instances of firefox  yes, but this was not a problem in the past

Exchange view yes

Cheers!

Ok, I'll to have a think about next steps to diagnose why you're seeing something different in the same browser version. I'm on a train right now and this forum is a struggle to operate with a phone.

If anyone else can confirm that it's working again for them I'd be grateful.

Thanks for patience so far, florimel, I'm sorry we haven't sorted this out yet.

Hi again

Is it possible to get an independent software that does the job that the watch window used to do?

My betting is lost without it.

I just did a fresh installation of windows to try to get this back, installed fox 6 and it's incompatible.  Please help.

I uninstalled fox and reinstalled v5.0.1 to try to get the extras working again.
Now I get them working intermittently, about one in five times I open Betfair on this clean installation.

Is there any way to contact labs direct?
I've tried messaging larry but didn't get a reply.
