When the puter starts up, see what frequency is shown (MOST puters show this info at switch on before the Windows logo shows).
If in doubt, Google your laptop model to see how you can go into the BIOS settings (it could be F1, F2, DEL or another key). Once you're in the BIOS settings, ensure your puter has the correct processer selected, the correct speed and frequency. |

intel speedstep,it's just an energy saving feature....cranks up the MHz instantly when needed. you can disable it in the bios but i would'nt bother. AMD have something similar.
