On Wednesday at Newbury there are some decent races to get stuck into. Hobbs and Henderson go head to head in the First Great Western Maiden hurdle with two well above average runners and that will be a watching brief for me.
The race I am getting interested in is the 12.50 which is a novices handicap chase over 3 miles and the going is set to be soft. The first thing needed to consider here is to make sure your selection is sure to stay and will handle the going. This is likely to be a gruelling test so weight to be carried could also be significant.
Looking at the runners I have to say that the likes of Penny Max, Not So Prudent and Gandalfe all have questions to answer over the going, trip or their jumping and I am happy to overlook them here.
