[In fact claiming races seem to be scarce enough too.] Sellers would be a good way to get individuals or syndicates involved in ownership by buying a horse that at least has shown a certain level of form and durability as opposed to taking a chance with an animal from the sales who might never even see the track. Many fun horses have come from sellers where a canny trainer can squeeze out a win and it's not unknown that a purchase can show considerable and profitable improvement.
