Caseys heart might be in the right place but he could hardly chair a meeting of Killnascully GAA Club.An orator he is not.

i see casey getting  15%. a backlash from the ordinary people . it would be a great performance considering he was at less than 1 percent  before his travellergate moment.

an epic shout on Casey, win or lose. not in the country so no vote today. I was speaking to a local of mine tonight who loves hawking the voting centres. the normal area vote is a straight head count between ff and fg, and my man says tonight that the normal ffers and fgers were ignoring party and freely coming out en masse for Casey.

Casey will win the poll in the local ballot, the remarkable aspect is that no local is likely to have met Casey and he certainly never canvassed in the area either. I hope he gets across the line for your bets, it would be the Irish political moment of all time were he to win.

I do predict with a general election on the horizon, a solid percentage for Casey will be good news for independents who do not have to toe pc party lines.

Exit Polls on the way, we will have a good idea, know North Pres had only 20% ish, Chriost Ri seemed busy enough when i was in there but it looks like a shocking turnout overall, a lot of money spent by the country.

amazing the impact of 6 houses
minus the stables.casey had very little else to contribute to the campaign. the out of touch media and the politically correct were unwittingly his campaigners. exciting elections lie ahead

If someone a bit more coherent had been the anti-traveler candidate he might have won the damn thing.

Casey pushing populist ideals
Wallace and fitzmaurice the same
Its all ok until they get in charge
Then if the ego gets the better of them
Its corruption all the way.

I don't see this having a massive impact on other elections really, unless someone sets up a purely anti-traveler party. Other than that I feel that public opinion is quite in line with what the media wants it to be.

People can see through things mostly despite the media, i thought Peter Casey was very genuine, lacking as a public speaker indeed and the politics wrong for the post but.....
back to what he said originally re the Tipp houses was 100%,the whole line is the way forward, covering up,lack of transparity would have most people rightly sick sh1t,more Peters please.

i think it was more than just anti traveller vote.  thats too simple . it was a response to the media s attempt to destroy  his campaign because he spoke his mind remember he was at less than 1% but ended up with more than the other admittedly weak candidates combined.. it was a more anti media anti correctness than anti traveller. i dont think if any of them went on to dragons den to  get funding for their campaigns would get any other response other than im out.

Casey indeed, what he really did is show he's a fighter. There is a possibility he doesn't even believe his traveller comments, because why would he have such a view on something that has zero effect on his own life. Always let sleeping dogs lie.
He came from being an embarrassment after the golf ball fiasco (which has been long forgotten) to say , I want this.

His message about the   message about the diaspora was valid.

The rest of them belong on father ted.

The Sinners are a circus. They pander to unemployed , useless, lazy 5hits who contribute nothing to society whilst expecting the tax payer to pick up the tab.

Casey was superb and showed there is an opening in Ireland for a party/leader to call out the PC bull5hit pandered by the champagne socialists in the IT, Trinity, UCD etc...

It really is unreal, anybody who voted for Peter Casey is being branded a racist, stupid, both and more.

Yet it's fine to vote for Michael D Higgins despite all his lies, despite his love of dictators like Fidel Castro etc......

Also they say anybody who voted for Peter Casey is stupid and was brainwashed over one comment. I would turn that on it's head and say could it be those who voted for Michael D Higgins are incapable of self thought and just followed what the government, the media etc........ told them to do.

It's go so PC that now they feel you should not be allowed vote whatever way you wish despite it being your democratic right.

You’d be embarrassed to be Irish almost all of the time , voting in the little leprechaun is mild compared to some of the other antics of the Irish . Championing the likes of McGregor, Katie Taylor , Mick Smith in sporting circles and voting for the likes of Lowry, Healy Rae etc, we are a laughing stock . Tribunals , croooked guards , croooked politicians, pavies signing on all over the place , brassers with 10 kids by 10 different fathers robbing the social welfare system and then being given a house to rear the filth they’ve produced . Lenient or non existent jail sentences, rubbish infrastructure, third world train system. You could go on for the night, but what does it matter ?, Paddy is only a gob**** with the brain of a rocking horse

jimeen and Racingqueen smash the political ball out of the park for a grand slam homer.

Not forgetting the planning scandals ,building on flood plains , keeping a moribund language of little or no use clogging up the school curriculum and declaring it to be the 1st official language (!!). Also including the deposit of raw sewage into sea , rivers and lakes and the wholesale dumping of litter in beauty spots all over the country.

Great points Vubiant.

Lets not forget landlords like Paddy "Gouger" who screw fellow citizens over by charging 2k+ for the honour of renting the box in his back garden

the thing about the dublin media and the apparent sneering of the  healy raes(not that i think anything good or bad about them) is that in the "sophisticated"  dublin  is that you continually elected the following in many elections :  bertie ahern, liam lawlor, ray burke, michael keating, michael woods, ivor callelly, royston brady and mary harney.   i would suggest that the healy raes are a long way better in every way than any of those beautys..

The knives are out for Peter now and no wonder.

But,
You have a taoiseach that urged people not to vote for him.shameful.
You have a person that drew attention to the shocking waste of taxpayer money in Tipp.
You have a person that drew attention the 8 billion stockpile of the goverment that could be put to use as P C suggested rather than Tipp, sheety made schools and hospitals, selling nama assets to  American venture capitalists for half nothing and buying them back at full whack, any thing at all really.

Fianna Fail have said they don't want P C,no IRISH party will, he is too honest.

2 great posts above.

The liberals sneer at the Healy Raes yet they have achieved plenty for their constituency, far more then the back benchers for FG/Labour/SF.

FF turning down PC is akin to taking out a rusty hack saw and sawing their own foot off. They agree with FG on everything.
Martin is shovelling ensuring FF will be permanently buried. How there has not been a heave against him is incredible.

You have  a massive portion of the electorate who voted for PC, voted against gay marriage and abortion who now go unrepresented in parliament, who are sneered at at every opportunity and labeled/name called.

FF and FG saying one thing in public but in reality their strategists would have not taken this weekend off. Both civil war parties know they have somehow to tap into that concern that Peter Casey expressed. It is way too large a voting cohort to ignore. I'd have had FF down as the better chance to do that.

I wonder who will now emerge out of this. Another version of the PDs or Renua? If examples in other countries are to go by, you have to be controversial - it gets yourself heard in the first place - and by being so, will mean you pee of some element of society. While that will annoy the chattering classes in Dalkey, and expect an onslaught, it is blatantly obvious that there is a sizeable voting cohort who, while in the minority, support social conservative values. Someone like Maria Steen or Laura Perrins perhaps? Lucinda Creighton?

From the indo,
4 fine gael ministers have opposed have opposed traveller accomadation in their own constituencies,
Social protection minister Regina Doherty
Justice minister, Charlie Flanagan
Arts minister Joespha Madigan
Rural affairs minister Micheal Ring,

In light of the labelling of Peter Casey as "racist" for what he SAID,surely Leo your own ministers by what they DID to this ethnic race are much more culpable,double-standards?, of course, just turn a blind eye Leo.

In happier times:

"One of the (Tallaght) vigilantes told Cummins that the “knackers” were “spoiling for a fight” and warned of the consequences: “If it does start, we’ll all be Hitlers. We’ll burn them out and, if there’s kids there, we’ll burn them too. They may be a minority, but they’ll end up like the bleeding Jews.”

From today's IT.
