A small bit of luck could have made yesterday very good.

I may be wrong but I think Rachael was hanging on to a tired horse to just do enough to beat alloha and didn't see champ.
She seemed to get urgent when he zoomed past her.

Black tears btn 1 1/2 by a horse who had 2lbs reduced off his rating on appeal.
Rarely if ever happens.

Langer Dan too far back going well,  no attempt to put him into a better position and then rode a finish 3 out using up all his energy.
He still finished 6th only about 1/2 lenght from 3rd .

Of course my bookie was paying first 5.

Anyway only one bet today   Ben Dundee for Gordon and Davey again.

If ridersonthestorm had missed hid last run I would have backed him in the Ryanair.

But he had such a hard race I'd be fearful so soon.

In fact I've seen races like that finish a horse completely.

I'm struggling to find anything today and when I do there seems to be 3 or 4 I can give big chances to.

Nothing that stands out at current odds.

I'll peruse over them during the course of the morning and put up anything if I back one.

When your luck is out its out.

I backed rafa Cabrera bello at 150/1 for the players.
A great first round 4 under had him in 7th I think.

I'm just after hearing it's cancelled. Cry

I've managed to eke out 1 in each of the 3 handicaps but I'll probably leave the first 2 alone for one thing or another.

I'll have a think about them later.

Well that's it.

Two of those placed with bookies paying first 5.

Happygolucky the only one I backed was 4th, had to hurdle faller at last or second last didn't help but don't think would have won.

No winners over the 4 days but thanks to 3 big priced placed horses I made a small profit (nearly 2 points).

I'll chance a win bet on nordano around 8/1 in the hcp hurdle at uttx tomorrow and that's it then .

I'm very selective these days and depending on the quality on Saturdays it could be Aintree  or fairyhouse before I bet again.

That's some tale of betting woe.
By:

When: 13 Mar 20 23:46
olddesperado,I had a small bet @ 70/1 on the winner of the last which limited my damage to a very small amount for the 4 days, for once luck was on my side as I'm 100% sure the Giggy horse that fell would have won that last race.

Still the best 4 days racing anywhere.
By:
olddesperado
When: 14 Mar 20 00:19
Well Done punch,

It is still the best 4 days racing I agree  but not a patch on the old 3 days.

They were magical.

Nice to see a few comments on the racing over the meeting and not bad picking by and large, Goshen and Column of Fire yesterday summed up my Cheltenham.

Pleased to see closed meetings going ahead for now,a small welcome distraction from all what is going on,be lucky all.

Good to see folk being selective, it's the only way to bring the fight.

I let my hair down a little at Cheltenham every year in search of he big one, luckily i finish up most years, but now it's back to brass tacks..

I'll still attempt to construct the odd multi bet, but selectively and price/shape of race is first port of call..

Know how your feeling pa.Goshen was a sore one to watch at the last.Had him backed all winter.Anytime i had a couple of winners I top up on Goshen. If they can settle him a bit god only knows were he will end up.And yes pa I was on column of fire.Another with a bright future.

When: 15 Mar 20 00:14
All that grief about Goshen could have been avoided if Moore would have had a glance to see where the opposition were, literally 20L behind and not closing.I would imagine if he knew that he would have been a good bit less aggressive at the final obstacle.
