Ye 95% of things were fine but i could never understand the harrassing of posters putting up an opinion on bets,

Political or social views are ok for debating or dragging out but people giving an opinion on their bets or a race should be embraced as imo every thought or view shold be considered qhen betting seriously.

And i know some will say they want no opinion but their own.

Putting up an opinion with reasoning was beauty of a (betting) forum, v good but everyone goes cold at some stage, there would be 50+ replies on a midweek evening fixture at say Ballinrobe at one time,some about a ride or a horse but they were good in the sense of further down the line at times.

Perennial trolls here who couldn't handle the tipping of shorties (of which I've no problem people doing) signaled the beginning of the end for the forum,gradually people stopped posting opinions and starting race day threads for fear of being told they were brave men tipping even money shots and the like.

When this happened with no apparent back lash it was deemed open season for all kinds of everything....

Tough card this evening,Texas Rock is in good current form and 16/1 at 1/5 5 places might get a dividend and surely won't be far from that,gut feeling though he is a little high in the handicap.

I don't know what to make of Ruby on Renneti(4.35), i would have thought Smullen again but he is on deBromheads horse he won last time on.Renneti is a horse i have put on the forum a few times,one quirky fecker,he is talented but ran a stinker in the St leger trial last time,one still to watch out for in big handicaps over hurdles next season,good race.

Just thinking Pa they might hold Renneti up today as it might suit her better that LTO,interesting to see the jockey booking and to see if he can get the beast to settle today.

I think so Punchestown,worst scenario is he mightn't start at all,but "codding" him along at the back would be what i would like to see as well, i know it's a "blobby" horse but still surprised with the booking.

Alright she had a 7lb claim but it was her 2nd public ride,i thought that was such sloppy journalism from a supposed trade leader.

I think what has also hastened the demise of this forum has been Twitter where everyone now has an immediate opinion and it is difficult to compete against the instant reaction of social media. I use twitter only as a source for unearthing good solid background information as many will post about blog and online articles that can be easily missed. The nonsense posted about the Davy Russell affair was all you ever need to know about the ability to speak first and think later.

The lack of political articles here has improved my blood pressure as I can imagine the delights I have missed regarding populism, water charges, Trump and Brexit.

I spent two days at the ICW and have some random thoughts;

The two placed horses in Nelson's stake will be of high order in the Ballydoyle firmament over time
On reflection, Eddie Lynam may have been happy with the run of Muirin despite her initially looking to have been momentarily outclassed
Order Of St George is a fantastic flat horse and is a rare example of one capable of catching the public imagination
The food offering at Leopardstown was appalling and hot dogs were selling for €12.50 in the gouging of the year.
The crowds looked modest to my eye and I'd say there were few enough paying guests.
