Yes,workrider, ozymandias and other banned as well and not a bad bone in their bodies.
I was pleased to hear some of the good skins of the forum have gone about it in another way, right an all, wish them the best of luck, the "banner" has a lot to answer for though that may even be contrived. |

Hope you're keeping well, Pa. Very quiet on here. Hopefully a few topics get a bit of momentum and it will pick up again. Was a great, great forum in its prime. You'd miss it.

I woldnt quiet say some of the above hadnt a bad bone in their bodies ,

Would agree, some serious sh!t slung here in its time; but by f*ck was it entertaining!

Btw i think there,s a cracking big priced runner tomorrow in the last at Leop.
I dont want to name it yet as im not on but will put it up after 6 ish. |
|
By:
I'm grand Neill, i doubt that though,135 views, zero responses seems the norm,to post is disheartening, maybe the topic is not universally interesting but at least it is to the poster, couldn't agree with you more all the same, the jaw would drop at peoples knowledge and insights on here at one time.

we are all human olddesperado,i had run ins with some but intrinsically speaking i wouldn't go to town on some of them.
cest la vie, i honestly bar a few thought there was little nastiness as such |
|
By:
Ye 95% of things were fine but i could never understand the harrassing of posters putting up an opinion on bets,
Political or social views are ok for debating or dragging out but people giving an opinion on their bets or a race should be embraced as imo every thought or view shold be considered qhen betting seriously. And i know some will say they want no opinion but their own. |
|
By:
Putting up an opinion with reasoning was beauty of a (betting) forum, v good but everyone goes cold at some stage, there would be 50+ replies on a midweek evening fixture at say Ballinrobe at one time, some about a ride or a horse but they were good in the sense of further down the line at times.
|
|
By:
Goodnight.nice to see someone on the forum, best of luck with your horse tom.
|
|
By:
Exactly, there was always something to learn from a lot of posts even as you say it was much further down the line,

Goodnight Pa,
As a bit of an experiment im going to name the horse. Texas rock. !6 with the bookies this evening, 21 on here to 2 € and 2€ each click down to about 14 , I put up 20 @ 36 to see and all prices were swiped to 16 on here to 2€ The 2€ merchants followed my bet from 34 to 32 etc all the way down to 17.5. within about a minute. |

Perennial trolls here who couldn't handle the tipping of shorties (of which I've no problem people doing) signaled the beginning of the end for the forum, gradually people stopped posting opinions and starting race day threads for fear of being told they were brave men tipping even money shots and the like.
When this happened with no apparent back lash it was deemed open season for all kinds of everything.... |
|
By:
The old cliche a short priced winner is better than a loser is true,i've no problems doing a short price either though not a long odds on fan.
Tough card this evening,Texas Rock is in good current form and 16/1 at 1/5 5 places might get a dividend and surely won't be far from that, gut feeling though he is a little high in the handicap. Though Elusive Time (best price 20/1) has twice finished behind fav Silverkode this season,it wasn't that far behind and would be my tentative pick. I don't know what to make of Ruby on Renneti(4.35), i would have thought Smullen again but he is on deBromheads horse he won last time on.Renneti is a horse i have put on the forum a few times, one quirky fecker,he is talented but ran a stinker in the St leger trial last time, one still to watch out for in big handicaps over hurdles next season, good race. |
|
By:
Just thinking Pa they might hold Renneti up today as it might suit her better that LTO,interesting to see the jockey booking and to see if he can get the beast to settle today.
|
|
By:
I think so Punchestown, worst scenario is he mightn't start at all,but "codding" him along at the back would be what i would like to see as well, i know it's a "blobby" horse but still surprised with the booking.
Texas Rock's price under pressure and looks sure to be shorter. |
|
By:
Texas Rock is interesting alright,I called Renneti a she

whats the angle to texas rock has a realistic chance of winning?? surely exposed off its current rating? beaten fair and square lto .up 1 pound?

Last 2 races there a nightmare for Ryan Moore, seems to get caught out a lot at Leopardstown.

Winter and Sir John Lavery.^^

By:
Workrider was laughed off the forum when he criticised Moore,no defense for that SJL ride.
He is under savage pressure now on Churchhill, not inconsievable the boot could be looming if he messes up in this. Renneti would break your heart,Ruby had a job pulling him up after the line, had no race there. |

Mistake, as clearly meant for R Moore.
Timeform had me scratching my head earlier in the week, "the booking of Amy O'Hanlon is a plus for All For Nothing" Alright she had a 7lb claim but it was her 2nd public ride,i thought that was such sloppy journalism from a supposed trade leader. |

I think what has also hastened the demise of this forum has been Twitter where everyone now has an immediate opinion and it is difficult to compete against the instant reaction of social media. I use twitter only as a source for unearthing good solid background information as many will post about blog and online articles that can be easily missed. The nonsense posted about the Davy Russell affair was all you ever need to know about the ability to speak first and think later.
The lack of political articles here has improved my blood pressure as I can imagine the delights I have missed regarding populism, water charges, Trump and Brexit. I spent two days at the ICW and have some random thoughts; The two placed horses in Nelson's stake will be of high order in the Ballydoyle firmament over time On reflection, Eddie Lynam may have been happy with the run of Muirin despite her initially looking to have been momentarily outclassed Order Of St George is a fantastic flat horse and is a rare example of one capable of catching the public imagination The food offering at Leopardstown was appalling and hot dogs were selling for €12.50 in the gouging of the year. The crowds looked modest to my eye and I'd say there were few enough paying guests. |

Btw kavvie looks to have called texas rock correctly.
He held every chance but couldnt go on on the golden highway on the outside. The handicapper seems to have him alright. |

Sorry Olddesperado, I was out golfing today only home now. Something so silly you wouldn't believe. All I can say without having myself banned again is,there's one mighty sensitive person on here!
