Figures show Weld is quieter than usual so far this season -nothing much PJ can do about that . It's up to the horses to perform when called on.

I agree with Vubiant.
It is horse racing, not jockey racing.

I'm one of Pats biggest fans, but he has not been at his best recently,he has lost a few that normally he'd have pulled out of the fire.As Mayoman has already noted its not just Weld who he's been riding for either.

weld had big priced winner today but his are not running well tbf, 4 weeks to galway?i think this year we may see him not fire as normal?
Report workrider July 1, 2017 7:31 PM BST
Poor ride on Cranksman imo, should have won.

Hate slating Pat Tony, but he is right out of form and as we know this game is about confidence, and atm Pat is lacking in that department.
Report joevalue147 July 1, 2017 10:47 PM BST
One things for sure Weld is going to have a lot of well handicapped horses in Galway.
Report olddesperado July 1, 2017 10:53 PM BST

Surely a virus running through the yard. Horses not finishing out their races at all bar the very odd exception. Dalton Highway/Three Kingdoms.

Forgotten Rules all but pulled up.

Hard to believe a qualified vet would 'chance' running his horses if he thought they were sick.  How much convincing does he need.
Report CALLING CARD July 2, 2017 10:33 PM BST
I would imagine listening to DK whinging after every defeat would dent anybody's confidence
look he's not invincible and we all suffer now and again
himself and Manning are deliberately letting horses wander to impede other horses runs all the time .
Colin Keane at the top of his game at present
Report joevalue147 July 3, 2017 12:33 PM BST
Keane is muster and it helps when his main stable supplier's horses are not suffering internally.
Report MayoMan July 3, 2017 3:11 PM BST
talk of a virus in the weld yard over on the main forum too - hard for PS to have any confidence when you know they're not 100% - if it is a virus you'd wonder why a vet is letting these lads run though Crazy

Renovating stables perhaps? You hardly think Dermot and sons are going to pay for up keep of stables out of their own pocket. Mischief

Pat Smullen should have left Weld years ago , he is far too good a rider to be saddled with Mr Pink. There looks like there is a lack of ambition on Smullens behalf, as he could surely have got a better retainer with his talent. It's only in the latter years that he ventured across the sea on any kind of a regular basis, and it's possible that he may have lost his opportunity now .
Report workrider July 3, 2017 5:14 PM BST
Pat is very much a family man and would not be prepared to move for those reason from what I gather, you think he hasn't been headhunted of course he has.
Report jimeen July 3, 2017 5:36 PM BST
What are you talking about ?, family man is right .
It's not like he'd have been riding in New Zealand, he could have ridden in Britain and still lived in Ireland. Moore hasn't much problem doing it, neither did Geraghty or Walsh
Report tony57 July 4, 2017 4:36 PM BST
be interesting watching the last with smullen on frima..

WTF sort of statement is that.
Report MayoMan July 4, 2017 9:06 PM BST
Firma seemed to run out of steam there in a right hurry
Report TOP3MAN July 4, 2017 9:07 PM BST
Jockey runs out of steam quicker, out rode by manning.
Report cloone river July 4, 2017 9:47 PM BST
The winner is a good horse.Hard as nails.
Report tony57 July 5, 2017 2:18 PM BST
purpose
the point is he was on a fancied horse and people think he is riding poorly?is it my fault you dont understand the point of the op?
Report by purpose July 5, 2017 5:10 PM BST
If we end up with a hard Brexit will i still have to listen to your waffle?
