Big flat handicaps are a terrible betting medium in my view and hence major books sponsor most of them.
It creates the culture (getting handicapped) they want leading up to the race and then try to encourage punters to bet on the "big profile "race.

if you don't bet in the big handicaps on Saturday, more fool you
always fascinated by the racing post tipsters on the weekend, they always find value bets, good for the multiples on weekends
