Clonmel is like travelling back in time, the facilities really are non-existent there and it's one cold place.
50% on Chambord du Lys ( a bit of 4/7 available earlier) - should win as she likes - Ruby's ride at Fairyhouse has to be one the most arrogant/foolish rides of the year. I'd say she will return around 1/3 -2/7.

3.25 Dr Waluigi 33/1. Perennial eyecatcher over hurdles and often well backed, probably because of the exceptional form of his point to point win. The trainer has a surprisingly good record with chase debutantes so hopefully he can fulfill his promise in a poor race. 4.35 Goodthynemilan 25/1. Slightly eyecatching last time, 5th on handicap debut having never been put into the race. Barry is a good booking in the context of these jockeys.

Its a really beautiful racecourse. It has a lovely quaint old stand and a relatively new one built by the Coursing Club,a fine restaurant under that new stand. There is a lovely line of Silver Birches on the far side of the course, the parade ring is ringed with some beautiful old trees.
It used be to me a dangerous racecourse, lots of horses slipping up on the downhill run to the second last, that seems to have been solved. The second last fence used to be lethal, horses travelling too fast downhill into it,that's been cured by moving the fence up the straight.
Despite all this its a great track for favourites, don't think today will be any different. The first three will go in. No Dice was travelling like a dream when he fell up North and looks another winner, wouldn't rule out Custom Cuts selection Dr Waluigi as this lad has a mind of his own ( will never forget the ride he got in Fairyhouse. ) fences can sometimes straighten these lads out.
The ring is stronger than you would think, the old layers seem to be gone but Daragh Fitzpatrick and Track Betting or something like that will bet you fair bets, neither seem governed by the exchanges, there is also a local Clonmel layer ( name escapes me ) who will lay decent bets.
Enjoy your day Mordin and may you make plenty.

I think pat fahy's mare Will win the 2nd race. She needs soft ground to be at her best and gets that today. Not sure the mullins mare puts it all in when push comes to shove. She won her bumpers on the bridle and has never come out on top when in a battle.

Wildmanfromborneo, i like Clonmel myself. Its a good viewing track and theres never ever a hard luck story in it, that is unless you come a cropper up the straight over fences. The betting ring is of no consequence nowadays anyway, but where we would definitely differ in our appraisal would be in regards to the fine restaurant under the stand. Personally i would rather take off my shoes and eat them before i'd venture into that very eating place.

I haven't eaten there but it looked clean and presentable last time I was there.
What do you think of the card ? Will 8 pound stop All The Chimneys ? Are any of the odds on shots vulnerable ?

That's them Workrider hear good things about them laying wise. A friend of mine had a right bet off them recently, took it without the usual knocking you down as they scramble to offload part of the bet.

Whatever the result you got some price on the Ahern horse Custom Cut.(a lovely answer to OP) I gave up on Dr Walugi myself, flatters to deceive in a nutshell, still a huge price and with heavy could as you say run well.Logical Song looks an obvious ew to me.
Dire race with All the Chimneys, his last run was imp enough but again a shocking field at Navan, betting that day said it wouldn't be beat(might be down to Martins horse that day). Best of luck.

Wildmanfromborneo, I've never had anything but good dealings with them tbh. I'm sure they think I'm a clever punter, I only ever seem to back winners with them.If they only knew the truth!.

Wildmanfromborneo, apologies regarding the non reply. I was away from the computer for the remainder of the day so i was unable to get back to you. Even though its too late now my thoughts on the card would have been that the two long odds on favourites would almost certainly win even though i wouldnt be betting at such prohibitive odds, and i would have fancied Davy Russell against Kate Applebys Shoes. No real opinion regarding All The Chimneys to be honest, and i wasn't anyway surprised to see Arvico Bleu get beaten in the last.

I think Newapproach and Jimeen can consider themselves dog unlucky as Awayinthewest seemed to have a slipped saddle that almost certainly cost her the race.
I thought Patrick Mullins was poor on Rock On Barney,he was just way too far out of his ground.

Rock On Barney finished with a bit left in the tank alright,it was a very good front running ride by the winner as well. Entered next week in both a 2m4f and 2m6f, the former is a 80-95 and would surely look competitive in that if he takes it up.
The seismic drift on Iolani in the bumper never had a moments worry for the layers, that certainly didn't go in to the notebook.

Very enjoyable day at Clonmel, David Hyland was offering 6/4 on the first 3 favs, couldn't resist the convenience of it, though lucky with Kate Appleby Shoes. Brilliant viewing at the track but facilities were very poor, I couldn't believe the low standard. I wonder will the racecourse be still there in 20 years time? Spotted that 25/1 on Goodthynemilan as well Custom Cut but he ran poorly. Agree Patrick gave Rock on Barney too much to do. Just 4 more to visit, Tipperary, Limerick, Listowel and Dundalk AW.

Nothing like having a good look at an 80-95 to give the brain a workout. Always the chance of a plot horse and the recent heavy tacky gluey ground isn't a plus either, still.
Despite penalty you would have to think Shellbealright will again hold Think Of Me and Kilkeaskins First, she wasn't unfancied at Fairyhouse and it was an emphatic win in the end,she has to be a danger,i think even for it's type it was a poor race. Wee Small Hours is well exposed,on a line through Itsallhappening says he has some chance though, finished a fair bit behind Twotensandalift at Navan 21st Jan though that was an off day,Twotensandalift was ridden well before the straight and just plugged on.(Tyners horse from that race went into notebook). Hard to find legitimate contenders after that,Sister Saragh highly tried last twice,Dr Zoom has decent placed efforts in 2015,not much appeal with anything else.
It would be nice to think Rapid Fritz is the key horse,it would be hard to see any other result if that face value comes to fruition.
