I see all that guff from the left that a victim mut be believed has gone out the window in this case.
My sympathy lies with that 6 year old victim who will be thrown to the wolves to placate those haters of An Gardai. |
By:
Ah cmon Wildman, there is no victim. Even Tusla themselves admit it was guff and the girl involved wants nothing to do with the accusations and is unwilling to stand over them. Daughter of a Garda who was disciplined because of McCabe as well.
the alleged victim, who was seeing the counsellor, was the daughter of a garda who had been disciplined following a complaint from Sgt McCabe. http://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/maurice-mccabe-to-sue-tusla-over-sex-abuse-file-1.2970148 This is the entire state apparatus gathering together to slander an individual. RTE involved as well. It even turns out the evidence officer in the case is O'Sullivans husband ![]() |
By:
You are more than likely right but the mantra from the left has been you must always believe the victim, you cannot question a victim.
In this case there was an old complaint. On Prime Time they kept saying baseless allegations. We all know of countless bogus claims, ones taken against the State where RTE wouldn't allow any question on the veracity of the claim. Normally the claimants are lauded by RTE with soft interview after soft interview. Although I have to agree we are back in GUBU territory. |
By:
There are far too many coincidences in this whole episode to believe that there is any substance behind the allegations made against McCabe as racingqueen has said. The idea put forward that it was a clerical error by Tusla to create a file about the baseless allegations is utterly unbelievable also. No state agency should be so reckless and careless when it comes to such sensitive and explosive allegations which could destroy a man's reputation. Rather than discussing the issue with his boss,
By:
Noreen O'Sulivan should have charged McCabe if she thought there was any substance to the allegations.
I also think this issue links back to the same sex marriage referendum and the cloak and dagger processes around that. There was a systematic effort to make sure that all state agency's were singing off the same hymn sheet and saying how good this referendum would be for the country. A lot of these state agency's are involved in this sorry episode also. The Guards were one of the first out of the block's in support of the referendum. Martin Shanahan from the IDA told us loads of jobs would be created from abroad if we voted in favour(Where are all these jobs, a propos?). Fergus Finlay also rounded up all the children's charities and told them to support a yes vote. The one state agency who didn't tow the line were TUSLA who stayed neutral. They had their state funding cut as a result. This would have struck fear into those in charge @ TUSLA and maybe this is why they got involved in this smear campaign against McCabe. It couldn't have been a mere clerical error to blacken his name like this, there must have been some orchestrated campaign against him to blacken his name in the most horrible way imaginable, certainly by the senior members of the Guards and possibly by Government officials also. Where would you hear the likes of some of this stuff? |
By:
you should have stopped with your first effort newapproach.
If you see no personal bias in conflating the gay marriage referendum with the McCabe assassination then you have some scales on your eyes. |
By:
I mistakenly referred to TUSLA having their state funding cut as a result of not nailing their mast to the yes side in the referendum but I was wrong. It was actually TUSLA that cut the funding of ACCORD, a catholic marriage guidance organisation who opposed the referendum. This is even more sinister. Whoever is in charge @ TUSLA is obviously making business decisions and dishing out state funding based on political affinities which is scandalous. The fact that they would the state's dirty work for them here and blacken a man's good name is even more outrageous.

By:
Let's hope they name and shame the Garda and his daughter who made this false claim against an innocent man and his family. Vile creatures.
By:
Was the allegation false or was it withdrawn, big difference?
By:
Both.
By:
So there will be a prosecution for the false allegations?
By:
God only knows in this country. I hope there is.
By:
He should bury those b astards the way they tried to bury him & that's coming from someone with family in the Gards
By:
It was only 24 hours to Tusla
By:
This whole saga is amazing. A "clerical error" thats happens to land on Mr McCabe that we're supposed to swallow as the truth. Scandalous stuff. Big question for me is how high up the pecking order did this filth go. Bigger fish than the commissioner i'd presume.

Its strange Enda is willing to allow justice to take its course in this case......seemed happy to act as judge and jury when Maria Cahill was wheeled out on the Dail plint

What about the six year old girl?
By:
6 year old girl?.
By:
GANT007 is patently a reasonable poster yet here he just accepts the RTE/Press line.
A complaint was made about a media saint years ago,it concerned some activity between a six year old girl and the said saint. It may be baseless,it may have been a misunderstanding,it could have been malicious but unlike any other case of this hue its deemed baseless because they the " saint " is involved. It crops up again later when the then 6 year old is receiving counselling as an adult, the counsellor deems it so serious he informs Tusla. There is not a smidgin of sympathy for the woman here. All the usual guff about the victim must be believed is out the window all because a favoured person is involved. Naturally the favoured person who we are constantly told has done the state some service is now suing us. Check out the favoured persons motives, you might be shocked. |
By:
Lets hope heads will roll. Compensation, smash up the old boys club and bring an incompetent Minister with them.
By:
I hope the incompetent minister is Katherine Zappone.
She has already half crippled Tusla by harpooning over ten million of its budget to look after 200 Calais criminals masquerading as children. |
By:
The compensation for the McCabe family should come from the Garda budget.
By:
People who love their country don't sue.
Why are you all in favour of the avaricious who sue. RTE and all journalists always side with the ones trying to stripe the State for funds. Compensation seeker equals villain to me. |
By:
I admire your patriotism but I think state collusion is wrong.
By:
It may be baseless,it may have been a misunderstanding,it could have been malicious but unlike any other case of this hue its deemed baseless because they the " saint " is involved.
No it hasn't. Its been deemed baseless by the DPP who stated there was no evidence. It crops up again later when the then 6 year old is receiving counselling as an adult, the counsellor deems it so serious he informs Tusla. http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/tusla-whistleblower-controversy-timeline-of-the-important-events-35439476.html The client was mistakenly stated to be the same woman who had made the previous allegation in 2006. There is no certainty they are the same girl/woman. The Indo state its not the same girl/woman. Other articles have claimed it is. |
By:
By:
The DPP did not deem it baseless, they said a prosecution was unlikely to suceed.
I've great time for Racingqueen and he could be right here,I just think he is believing vested interests here. Its the approach that's wrong here,in all similar cases the mantra is given out the victim must be believed, you normally are not allowed question the victim but in this case the victim is just branded a liar from the getgo. |
By:
The DPP stated there was no evidence to support the accusation. By its definition that is the DPP saying they have no basis to convict.
If the girl in question is unwilling to stand over her original accusation, then he is a proven innocent man according to the law of the land. |
By:
The DPP stated there was no evidence to support the accusations
Where did you see that statement from the DPP? |
By:
^^^^^^^ Stick to the threads with wonky and your pals ^^^^^^
These threads where a bit of intillect is required aren't suiting you |

By:
He gets it.not for him the herd mentality,he has quite correctly questioned the cosy concensus.
Always beware when all the politicians, all the media behave like a baying mob. There is not one dissenting voice. It could be that they are so overwhelmingly right that no right thinking person could disagree. All I ak for you is to think, ask why the normal mantra of a victim must be believed is being ditched. Ask the Sinn Fein TDs how they think the IRA would treat whistleblowers. The Gotchee got the nuances of this case from the start and its not the first time,a perspicacious poster. |
By:
Minister for Justice caught out badly telling porky pies. Dave Taylor will be reinstated and he will hang the establishment out to dry.
The State 0 McCabe Family 1. |
By:
I have already stated I respect GANT007 but here's what happens when mob rule reigns.
You have a reasonable fair minded poster like GANT posting this stunning line " The State 0. McCabe Family 1 " There is so much wrong with that line its hard to know where to start. We are the State, everyone that's suing the State is suing us. The changing of Maurice McCabe to the McCabe family is just pure emotionalism. Its cropped up among politicians who now when apologising list the McCabe family. Presumably the family of the 6 year old victim don't deserve familial status. No criticism of McCabe is allowed. I know this post will vanish if I list my many objections to this compensation seeking chancer. Its not a game, its serious and its cannibalistic. |
By:
The false allegation brought his family into it. Files were opened in their names.
Whatever about a former colleague getting revenge, this is the lowest a human can go. |
By:
Will the Minister and Commissioner be gone by Friday?.
Wildman, I don't care much for your old boys club, time to break this old school Irish mentality. |
By:
You keep calling this a false allegation yet you don't know that's true.
No Minister will be gone. Its not an old boys club to be sceptical of mavericks,be sceptical of those demanding compensation,I prefer to call it prudence. |
By:
Compensation was only mentioned last week. Incompetent old buys club can't get away with these tactics against citizens anymore.
The good old days of the bully boy are gone. The old boys club pension pots should be taken to foot the bill. |
By:
That's simply not true,he was suing the State years ago.
He was even suing before he saw the advantages of becoming a whistleblower. He has also emboldened other whistleblowers to get in on the act. Is there not an element of bullying in the refusal to allow a dissenting voice ? Is it bullying to defend yourself ? The lads with the wigs are all rubbing their hands with glee,a lucrative tribunal followed by lengthy multiple compensation claims against a State that's not allowed defend itself, its the ultimate open goal. |
By:
The state agencies handled this one badly.
