A interesting if unspectacular card there tomorrow.
Mall Dini is of interest dropping in distance, many on here think he needs distance to show his best,I on the other hand think this is worth a shot,he might just do them for a little toe, I felt at Punchestown he had them covered turning in but he found little. Discosimo and Joxer just might set the race up for him, t/t on and sure to get a strong gallop he's worth a punt.
Clondaw Warrior with Ruby aboard is another worth a few bob, backed him at Xmas were I thought he was given a little too much to do,here's hoping he can deliver under the master.
Bonny Kate has a nice weight, and both Flanagan and Meade are at the top of their game, if allowed make the running she will be hard to peg back.

I am with you on bonny kate. Not so sure on mall dini going back to 2 miles.

Isn't Elliott cute out? Under "normal" circumstances i'd imagine there wouldn't be a hope of Clarcam and Shadow Catcher running again so soon, you would have to think they are in to keep The Crafty Butcher out.
Not unusual for Elliott to have block entries in big handicaps but can't see WPM complaining too much giving his block entries in graded races.
Galmoy should be a cracker,on the Leopardstown run have to favour Clondaw but there was very little between the 3 on that.
Report firstimevisor January 25, 2017 7:02 PM GMT
It wouldn't look good though if Clarcam and/or Shadow Catcher are pulled out tomorrow or pull up early in the race itself. There's a world of difference between making block entries and leaving intended non runners in at the overnight stage
Report pa lapsy January 25, 2017 8:37 PM GMT
No it wouldn't,though if TCB had a good chance of getting in,won't be a surprise with Mullins himself to find a stone bruise or something with Sambremont, pure conjecture i know but would that be plausible also?
Report firstimevisor January 25, 2017 10:04 PM GMT
No cert would be needed for Sambremont as he's a reserve, so not obliged to run even if he could.I take your point though.

Still, regardless of who the trainers are, team tactics can get out of hand at times. Its fair enough a trainer running a top weight to keep the weights compressed or even pulling one out to allow a better fancied stable companion in is no big deal really. But leaving horses in with no intention of running, thus depriving opposition horses a place, is taking things too far. Of course if Clarcam and Shadow Catcher do run tomorrow then that's fair enough too.
Report pa lapsy January 25, 2017 10:16 PM GMT
I can be a bit too suspicious at times Firsttimevisor and often 2+2 is 5 but;

Maybe it is a slight raising of the bar in regards the trainers championship.
I believe the two i mentioned shouldn't be running all the same, particulary with shadow catcher who was pulled up after 5th,did the jock that day felt he wasn't right?
4 days is not rare but unusual except maybe at festivals,i think clarcam had a tough race also and under normal circumstances won't be running tomorrow.

Macnicholson in the beginners chase e/w at 11/1 could be a bit of value in a race where there are question marks about most of the participants.
Hardline is overpriced @ 9/2 against the Mullins "good thing" in the last.

Gold Cup perfermence by Champagne West of 11.7.  Will have no bother getting the Gold cup trip.
Report macrocky January 26, 2017 4:56 PM GMT
I thought the start of the race was interesting.
For a 3 mile chase it was aggressive, no quarter asked or given.
Seems champagne West is best suited by making the running

Frank would his jumping hold up at Cheltenham I doubt it, Mall Dini ,has Cheltenham taken the heart out of him, gone from a really good hurdler to a mediocre chaser imo, doesn't seem to have a trip even, maybe the fitting of blinkers would be of help, I'd say they are pulling their hair out re this lad.Question mark around Clondaw getting the 3ml imo, never looked as if he'd pick them up,maybe it was that the ground didn't help.
Report cloone river January 26, 2017 6:03 PM GMT
When mall dini gets a chase mark and the money is down you will see a different horse workrider.
Report workrider January 26, 2017 6:18 PM GMT
I'd like to believe that Cloone, but my opinion is he just might have had the fight knocked out of him.
Report dj876 January 26, 2017 9:26 PM GMT
He wants better ground as relayed on here last year prior to Cheletnham

You don't win a 3 mile hcap at Cheltenham by being inconvenienced by the trip.

How you'd expect a horse that has showed his best form over 3 miles to "do his rivals for toe" over the minimum is confusing.

CR is correct , will win a decent pot but on better ground is the key
Report workrider January 27, 2017 10:35 AM GMT
He's won ONE race on good ,and ONE on soft. Gone from 3ml too 2m 4f then 2ml. Now  that sounds to me like the trainer is puzzled .Maybe you'd like to name the last time a 3ml Cheltenham winner dropped to 2m, apart from K.S. that is,and even YOU wouldn't say Mall is in the same league .This is not just about the ground imo, the reason I said I thought he'd come and do them for toe is, as I said yesterday, I thought Joxer would set off at a mad pace followed closely by Disco and they would fall in a heap, which would bring Malls stamina into play and he would pick them up. Great Field put paid to that,no doubt you saw this happening and backed Great Field, sadly for us you forgot to put it up BEFORE the race.
Report Bigwillystyle January 27, 2017 11:03 AM GMT
Wonks cop on.  The trainer is certainly not puzzled FFS.  The horse produced its best performance on GOOD ground over THREE miles.  Getting some practice in before Cheltenham. The danger now however is he has failed to get a handicap run into him before it.  He could be one for the novice handicap at Punchestown.
Report workrider January 27, 2017 4:49 PM GMT
Where will he run at Cheltenham Willie ?,hard to see this fellow winning over ANY distance atm.Willie tell me the reason for the dramatic drop in distance then I might engage, getting some practice in,well I ask ya...Laugh

You will have a few busy weekends coming up Wonks, the influx of tourists for the rugby will surely be a big cash cow for your crew.
Them rugby lads are reputed to have a serious appetite when it comes to that craic, so ye better be well rested up before their arrival .
You should be well flush by Cheltenham time and for the start of the flat.
Report workrider January 31, 2017 5:36 PM GMT

A lot easier to deceive running it over the wrong trip, the aussies do it all the time,
The one thing I'm certain about is this horse will win a big handicap when they want
