Sad news indeed,.... Latest,THREE-TIME Cheltenham Festival winner Vautour has died after a freak accident at Willie Mullins' yard.
"He broke a foreleg and has had to be put down," his trainer told the Racing Post on Sunday evening. "It's very tough to take for all of us."
Mullins does not know exactly how the injury happened. He explained: "Vautour was out in a paddock with another of our horses, Shaneshill - the two of them go out to the same paddock most days.
"We don't know what exactly happened - it must have been a freak accident - but when one of the girls went out to feed the horses Vautour was found with a broken front leg and our vet had no option but to put him down.

I love those type that relentless gallop the opposition into the ground,
I get what your saying about Tylicki and its dreadful but it was a one off.
Mullins just seems to be going through one of those phases where if it can go wrong it will after having a miraculously lucky few years previously.

Terrible news especially for connections including the stable staff who looked after him. Cheltenham wont be the same without him after three great performances. Had my biggest ever win when he won the JLT. The sky was the limit and I believe he would have won the 2017 GC. But horses get serious injuries every day and we only hear about the good ones and just like Vautour they dont have to be jumping Beechers brook to get injured.
