There is too much Parentheses on the forum, it is almost psycedelic on the eyes.
There was at least a couple of threads taken down on how the economic migrants were behaving themselves in their new homeland Mrs Merckels Europe but sadly they didn't last but were truthful though.

It's worse this yoke is getting. ((((( would pay good money to give him a good root in the hole)))))))))
Anyway Mincer, just wondering if you might finally doff your cap to the rugby team?
Did we shake up the world?
Or...will you be telling me it a meaningless friendly, that the AB's were jaded at the end of the season, that the best team to ever play the game could not be expected to cope with all of 2 injuries, or that we were lucky to shade it by all of 11 points

I've become like one of those progressive university students in that I'm looking for safe places.
Was watching the breeders cup so followed the rugby on the betting market, its amazing watching the market fluctuating. New Zealand odds on when they were trailing 30 - 15 and even bigger oddson going into the final 5 minutes when they 33 - 29 down.
Some victory for Ireland and apparently done with style.

I was at a house party and missed the game lads, my son was texting me updates of the game and i have to admit i thought he was takeing the piss in his early texts, looking forward to seeing a replay of the game.

Ozy, i will doff my cap to the Irish Rugby team when they ever win a meaningful match. Victory in a mickey mouse friendly out in the States is hardly a reason to go for the bugle. They have never been past the last 8 in the World Cup , a truly remarkable statistic for a team recognised as being one of the better exponents of the game. The 6 Nations is a joke competition and is treated as such by the likes of England and France, and indeed Wales in the latter years. The truth is Ireland has never ever won a meaningful Rugby game against any of the top teams, since the inception of the World Cup, whenever that was. Im not a Rugby fan either to be honest, i cannot abide Ireland , with this shoulder to shoulder horse shiite. The bottom line is they arent worth a carrott, and as for the game itself, its a load of bawlixx. Rugby and Darts are about the two games i see that you can play if you are 25 stone and waddle around as if you are 7 months pregnant.

A humourous retort Mincer, as always, I will give you that.
As you don't follow the sport closely, it is no surprise, however, that you have included a number of glaring inaccuracies.
The 6 Nations is a joke competition Nonsense, it's one of the great sporting events. When dd you last see an empty seat? it's the envy of world rugby and many other sports also. Thousands of friendly travelling supporters, great atmospheres, Dublin humms on 6 nations weekends more than any other weekend.
and is treated as such by the likes of England and France, and indeed Wales in the latter years. B0ll0x!
And then we move on to your (and others) persistent use of the WC to demean Irish Rugby.
First and foremost, the 6 nations is far more important. Why? because it pays the bills and props up the game in this country. As do, the Autumn internationals....meaningless friendlies in your eyes. We get feck all $$$s from the RWC. Now, it would be a great boost to the game here to win one, no doubt, the annual tournaments and friendlies' are ultimately far more important.
The truth is Ireland has never ever won a meaningful Rugby game against any of the top teams, since the inception of the World Cup I would have thought beating Australia in Australia was fairly meaningful. Beating France (not at their pomp admittedly) last time around was also worthy of a mention.
have never been past the last 8 in the World Cup Getting to the last 4 is hardly a given, we are not ordinarily considered a Top 4 country.
Now, there have been only a handful of RWCs, actually 3 really, since we got organised and compeditive in the pro game in this country. Hardly a large enough sample size to draw too many statistical conclusions. Hopefully our results will improve with time.
I could go on and on...but I have to run.
Saturday in Chicago was epic, there is no debating that!

I'm not disagreeing for the sake of it but I was disappointed with the Ozymandius reply.
Its obvious he loves his rugby but there was so much he could have said in rugbys defence that he missed.
I'm a hurling and racing man but a fair weather rugby supporter. Rugby is steeped in tradition. If you asked men of my vintage to name rugby players,Mike Gibson and Willie John McBride would be first mentioned,it is significant where they come from. 1972 still rankles with me ( Ireland won their two away matches against France and England but Scotland and Wales refused to travel to Dublin ) but England came to Lansdowne Road the next year where they got some reception and Ireland won. This led to a magnificent quote from the England Captain " we may be no good but at least we turn up "
Despite our small pool of players its the one sport we regularly compete at the top level Our record in the Five Nations was patchy but our record in the Six nations is sensational.
Another aspect is the phenomenal success of our provinces. Another positive for rugby is the behaviour of the fans
My negatives for rugby are the arcane nature of the rules and the huge influence of the referee.

To be fair Wildman it not that the rules are of arcane nature it just we dont see all the infringements when bodies are piled on top of each other. I am still learning a lot about the game and have to ask my sons what infringement was broken that the ref had to give that peno . For me the introduction of the video ref is something that soccer could learn from. ..Come on Ireland

As i said Oz, im not a Rugby man but that doesnt mean i'm a complete ignoramus regarding the game either. Firstly, the 6 nations is a joke competition, as is any sporting competition where some of the competing teams are using it as a blooding exercise or indeed a stepping stone for more prestigious events. Its important to Ireland as its the only chance they will ever get to achieve what the paddy deems to be "success ". England France and Wales most certainly do not have the pedal to the floor in this competition, they regard themselves as genuine contenders for the major competition in the game, and treat this Carling Cup of Rugby with the disdain it deserves. Beating Australia in Australia was nearly 40 years ago in some meaningless test, it was of no significance. And finally there has been 7 or 8 world cups, and before any competition starts, there can be no more than about 8 possible winners, so basically Ireland are almost guaranteed to get into the last 8 with the seeding that goes on, so its absolutely remarkable that they have never ever reached the last 4. Ireland and Italy are the only 2 teams from the 6 nations that have never made it to a semi final, even Scotland have done it.

Think they beat Australia in the World Cup in 2011, but followed it up with a poorish display against Wales in the Quarters.
Great win on Saturday, hope we aren't peaking between World Cups again. We seem to have that tendancy a little.
We have a few players like Sexton, Murray, Heaslip & McGrath that would get in most teams & a nice blend with plenty of potential behind that. Lot of injuries on saturday so it was a great result.

I don't think you have read my post pRoperly Mincer.
Australia was in the RWC as Neill has pointed out.
There have only been a handful of RWCs since we became organised and compeditive. See original post.

Ultimately, if you can't celebrate and enjoy our first ever success against the ABs, a team described as 'possibly the best ever' going into the match, without demeaning it as 'meaningless' this would suggest, to me, that the issue lies within.

There is a valid enough point in our performances against Argentina (however injury ravaged) and Wales in the last 2 world Cups and then 07' was a write off.
However, I'd be one that loves the 6 Nations as a competition and we go well in that nearly every year. It's the type of competetion our soccer team would love rather than the pretty tedious qualifying campaigns we have to suffer. Plus it pays for the sport in the rest of the country AFAIK
The Irish Rugby team are good value to their fans and Rugby occasions are generally great craic socially.

Wonky, go and have a lie down ya worthless little mink ya. Ozymandius is a tremendous poster who i really enjoy, but i am not in agreement with him on this subject. I am not going to change my views for anybody, nor would i expect him to change his. Unlike yourself who feels the need to engratiate people on here, with your Mr Nice Guy act, i dont really care what people think of me . Ozy , i did read your post, you clearly make reference to Ireland beating Australia in Australia, and not New Zealand as you obviously intended. The match you meant was not a meaningful match, it made no difference to the entire tournament, it wasnt knockout. Australia made it to the semi final, while Ireland were hammered in the quarter final by Wales. To say we have only become organised in the last few World Cups is downright nonsense, so you are implying that we werent organised in the first 5 of them. What were they doing there if they werent up to it?, and their performances since they have supposedly got organised arent any better. And finally i do not agree that England France and Wales are remotely near 100% in this rubbish 6 nations. Ireland would never beat England if the English so desired, particularly in the current era, and the fact that the 6 nations is popular is neither here nor there, there are many sporting events that get crowds that they dont deserve, i think there was something like 50000 at England and Malta lately, so that sums up the mentality of people nowadays. Indeed there was about 400 at a Rovers match lately, the one thing they all had in common, all armed and all unemployed.

It's not a bad achievement to beat NZ but it would have been a hell of a lot more prestigious to beat them in Ireland Europe or NZ. You wouldn't run the aintree national over the American national course.

More prestigious to beat them elsewhere? Geez, we are a fussy bunch...I would settle for beating them on Mars.
It is quite astonishing that in a calendar year we have beaten South Africa away (with 14 men), New Zealand (away, ok, neutral)......and have the chance to beat Australia in a few weeks to complete the clean sweep.

Wonks, same old same old is rich coming from you. Mother of jesus you have been spouting the same garbage with years, i couldnt be bothered even listing the rubbish that you have spewed all over the forum. I myself love to engage with someone in a reasonable argument or discussion, Ozymandius is more than reasonable and rational in the way he thinks. Even auld Dan is a good old character, not that i agree with everything he says, but his use of the English language displays an intelligence well above average, so you know you are engaging with somebody worth listening to. You on the other hand wonks, are more suited to the gobshee and Scouse Anthony, they seem like more your cup of tea.
