Must add that BJG has five potential winning rides tomorrow, for JP though (1st 3 favs), and Barry also picks Scoir Mear for Thomas Mullins from a choice of 5 in the 3.55 Mulholland Crookies H/cap Hdl race...twas an easy pick, from 4 choices, in the earlier 1.55 race...with B365, these 4 (5/4,5/6,7/2,9/2) pay 100/1. Bondi Beach surely, best horse in the race by a fair way. really dislike this race though. Totally overblown for what it is. I'd have rather seen Bondi campaigned properly.

Tony instead of asking silly questions put your own opinion down.
No she didn't stop riding but certainly wasn't very forceful in the last furlong. People should be rightly very unhappy with her if they backed it.

Good day at the office for BJG (3wins Two2nds) BUT spare your thoughts for Freddy Tylicki and Jim Crowley after an absolutely horrific four-horse pile up at Kempton. Tylicki was airlifted to a major trauma unit at St George’s Hospital in Tooting with suspected spinal injuries while Crowley was taken to the same hospital by road ambulance. Two other jockeys Steve Drowne and Ted Durcan were also thrown from their mounts but did not need hospital treatment and limped back to the weighing room.
Report newapproach October 31, 2016 7:37 PM GMT
I've backed Big Orange as well Tony, ran  a cracker last year and looks an improved horse this year. The experience of running in the race last year will be no hindrance either. There is talk of a local horse taking him on for the lead though, hopefully they don't go too fast and cut each others throats.

Bell couldn't train a dog to sit down so he will hardly win this
Report Catch Me ifyoucan October 31, 2016 9:35 PM GMT
Latest positive news is that Tylicki is now breathing for himself, however he is still waiting to undergo scans...thoughts and prayers and keeping everything crossed for Freddy & Jim.
Report neill d October 31, 2016 9:36 PM GMT
Agree mincer, Bell is the big worry alright lads, split with the missus since the days of Motivator & Sariska and it seems she took most of the good owner breeders with her. Very hard to keep the same motivation after that having had so much success early.

What I don't like was how well the horse won at Newmarket during the summer over 12f when Spencer opted to ride The Grey Gatsby instead. The horses were clearly going in opposite trajectories by then and you'd like Bell to have been able to be firm with Spencer & say "you're on the wrong one, you might not get back on this horse & he's going places" Don't think Bell knew what was coming then so how can he now?

One of those horses that has gotten quicker as he has gotten older but I really can't have the trainer so would sooner place lay than back.
Report pa lapsy October 31, 2016 10:17 PM GMT
I hate this time of the year for backing a horse,id much prefer to be clinging to the flat despite "coats, long season" etc.
That beginners was a very classy race at Galway, the 3 main ones didn't race for at least 6 months, i'd imagine the orders on them were get them safely around first and foremost, trainers delighted with the trio and winning an afterthought.
Cue Card was probably the same and 80-90% fit, some will be 95% but long season and the targets aren't in Oct/Nov, think it is a rotten time unless you are going on current form in poorish class.

All accounts that was a bad accident today, guilty myself of slagging them but one dangerous occupation even though a lot of the jocks won't call it an occupation.
Report neill d October 31, 2016 10:23 PM GMT
Think cue Card is probably better waited with as well Pa. Was seriously impressive sitting off the pace at Haydock last year & could easily see a repeat of that at Haydock.

Don't think the Mullins horses will be ready, or inclined to travel. would worry about Vautour if he showed but he won't I'm guessing.

The English staying novices last season were gash. He beats all the English horses at that track.

Anyone reckon Free Expression might be plotted up for the Grand Annual? Definite shades of Ned Buntline & Bellvano about him.
Report pa lapsy October 31, 2016 10:32 PM GMT
I agree with Free Expression Neill,a good stab for a target from ya, i was impressed today anyway.
Not sure of the number between 80-100% Thistlecrack was but im inclined to hand him the Gold Cup even now(faller insurance)
Report Bigwillystyle October 31, 2016 10:32 PM GMT
He is not a 2 miler. Good handicap in him but it won't be over 2 miles.
Report neill d October 31, 2016 10:37 PM GMT
Yeah, big Thistlecrack fan as well here Pa, but I've got a serious horn for Vautour wherever he goes to be honest. When he is right, I just have the sense he has the beating of anything & I think he might be the reason Douvan will remain at 2 miles this year.

I'll bear that in mind BWS, you'd know better than me. They love that Paddy Power 3m handicap at Christmas, maybe that.
Report newapproach October 31, 2016 10:40 PM GMT
Maybe Spencer made that decision based on the career trajectory of the trainers rather than the horses Neill. Ryan's stable seems to be getting better quality wise while Bell, as you say, has been quite for a few years. Difficult to tell for sure how much a stayer can improve also as they get stronger physically and mentally, they can improve beyond all recognition. No doubt Bell has gotten a lot quieter the last few years but he can still target one for a big day imo, he landed a monster gamble in a mile handicap @ Glorious Goodwood this year with a horse that sadly died a few weeks later. While he has probably lost the hunger to recruit new owners and horses in the last few years, he can still do the job as well as anyone with a good horse imo.
Report neill d October 31, 2016 10:46 PM GMT
I'd forgotten about that Goodwood horse, NA. You're giving a fuller picture there alright. Mayvbe he can get it up for the good horses.

I'm on Bondi myself. Hope he does it for ye if BB doesn't win.

I've a feeling this has been the plan for BB since he broke his maiden. Strange to say for such a good horse but I think they have used his perceived quirkiness to conceal the true levelk of his ability and he is well handicapped.

It wouldn't surprise me at all were he to be their King George horse next season, I think he is that good and had thought when they were all 3yos that he would go scale way way higher heights than Highland Reel and Orderofstgeorge.

He has a lovely bend of speed and stamina for this.
Report neill d October 31, 2016 10:47 PM GMT
Spencer was jocked off TGG as you mention him now, hadn't thought of that, maybe he had pressure there as well, my point wasn't as valid as I'd thought!

Freddy Tylicki was reported to be in a stable condition last night after the horrifying four-horse pile-up at Kempton on Monday. He was airlifted to the St George's spinal unit after getting the worst of a melee which also resulted in Jim Crowley being hospitalised.

Tylicki is in the intensive care unit at the hospital in Tooting, South London. Crowley was fortunate to emerge with a broken nose but no serious injury.

The terrible news about Freddy Tylicki is what none of us wanted to hear, all our thoughts are with him and his family...Freddy Tylicki has a T7 paralysis, which means he has movement in the upper half of his body but not his lower after his fall from David Elsworth's Nellie Deen.

Tylicki has been told by doctors he has a T7 paralysis - he remains in intensive care and is not receiving any visitors "for the foreseeable future".

Trainer Rod Millman believes Freddy Tylicki's "great spirit" will help him through the dark days. Millman called upon the services of the 30-year-old more than any other trainer this year, in which Tylicki rode nine winners from 86 rides for the Devon handler. He said: "Freddy is a lovely lad and had just made the big breakthrough this season. I've known him for a few years, but this was the first season he rode most of our horses. "He was a professional jockey, is good fun, and looked after the horses so brilliantly. "This was the news we were dreading all week and the whole yard is devastated. He does, though, have great spirit and I'm sure that will see him through."

Tylicki was named champion apprentice jockey in 2009 and counted the John Smith's Cup at York amongst his other previous big-race victories. Born in Germany - his father was a three-times champion jockey in his homeland - Tylicki moved to Ireland with his family as a 14-year-old. His first significant role in racing was as an apprentice to Dermot Weld, in County Kildare, before he assumed a role at Jim Bolger's County Carlow yard for three and a half years.
Bolger said: " Jackie (Bolger's wife) and I are devastated by the news and we wish him all the very best. "I remember Freddy as being a great worker and he was so determined to get to where he wanted to be. "Unfortunately, he didn't get that many opportunities with us on the track, but he certainly made up for it when he crossed the water to England. "We were thrilled to see him become champion apprentice and hope he can get through this terrible adversity."

A GoFundMe account was set up on Friday evening to raise money for Tylicki, with nearly £10,000 - half of its £20,000 target - having been donated by Saturday morning.
