Thankfully it is only every 2nd year i make a complete tit of myself by getting it so wrong.
What a weak looking Euro team though,Sullivan,Chris Wood, young Matty and Thomas Pieters, even Cabero-Bello and ould Westwood, surely they are fecked!!!
All hyped up in cage fighting manner with Danny Willetts brother calling the Yanks a bunch of lard arses, ya just can't say it.

Think Sergio and Kaymer will get a foursomes point to have Europe 3-1 behind after that,Matt Kuchar ew at 16/1 for top combined points scorer might have a bit of mileage as plays with Dustin against Pieters/Westwood.

The Judas double is USA and Dublin, every GAA pundit saying Dublin can never play so bad again, alright i trust ye for 6/4 for the two.

Have a good weekend!

Ah well,  I've procastignated on it a long time, herself will be all of a doodah with her zenophobic shouts for Europe, i must admit that is part of it,she mangled the block of cheese, what is it with women and a complete inability to cut cheese in a straight line?,that is a facctor as well.
Yep all the wrong reasons but what harm.
Report workrider September 30, 2016 6:18 PM BST
Pa, One of the worst displays ever by a European team ,a total shambles, taken nothing away from the Yanks but that was brutal from our lads..
Report pa lapsy September 30, 2016 6:27 PM BST
Honestly thought the Americans were poor enough as well WR,Mickleson was brutal on fairways but Europe were chronic altogether,Westwood missing a couple of short ones, Rose doing nothing,Pieters to his credit for a rookis did well.
Don't understand why Fitzpatrick and Wood not playing in fourballs, it is such a bad sign of a team that played so poor they aren't getting a game, really shouldn't be there if can't get picked after earlier.

Could be a right mauling here.
Report Temlett September 30, 2016 9:21 PM BST
Great comeback this evening even if Kaymer continues to play very moderately, like he has done in many matches over the 3 cups despite a marginal winning record.

The exclusion of Knox for his pal Westwood is already making Clarke look like a plonker. Pieters must feel like he is playing a different sport now with Rory and is playing brilliantly.

Report pa lapsy October 1, 2016 12:04 AM BST
I didn't see that coming either, suppose from the spectacle point of view it is better close.

Clarkes biggest mistake so far for me was not playing the two Spaniards together this morning, behind but off to bed the happier side.
Report Kelly October 1, 2016 1:27 AM BST
Good comeback after a disastrous morning . Americans played well in morning , but not 4-0 play , momentum swing a factor .  Should have been 3-1 probably each session on first day .

Rory simply the best player out there at present , hope Darren can place him properly so as to guarantee maximum points from him from now on .

Looking forward to some great sport over the next few days , the replay could go either way on basis of what I saw in Croke Park .  Dubs allegedly cant play badly again , but Mayo played well and might do so again .
Report pa lapsy October 1, 2016 10:07 AM BST
I thought Pieters carried him myself yesterday Kelly.

Think the pairing is right to go out first today, bit surprised Mickleson is,he didn't hit a fairway yesterday, that is not to say he won't today but evens looks a decent price for Eur to continue the momentum.
Looks the standout bet of the 4 early matches to me.
Maybe the Americans will get the next 2 and the Spanish pairing possibly the last though i couldn't back any of them with confidence.
Maybe 7-5 at tea-time?
Report Temlett October 1, 2016 11:30 AM BST
Pieters won more holes in the partnership yesterday alright pa. Rory was steady but Pieters played the holes that put real pressure. Granted the eagle was brilliant at the end even if the antics afterwards were a bit OTT and the incident with Austin Johnston was not explained properly.

Rory was shaky for large parts of the foursomes with Sullivan too and it was when Sullivan stopped holing putts that they lost their momentum in the morning. He needs a big day today to try and get this to 8-8 or so. There is no question that he will play all 5 matches.
Report pa lapsy October 1, 2016 9:48 PM BST
TBF to Mcilroy today he is pumped up to the last.
Westwood holing long putts and looks completely different to yesterday.
Fairly rivetting stuff,big momentum swings,US 10/11 15 mins ago to 4/6ish now.
Probably going into tomorrow at 8.5 to 7.5, shaping up to be close, game on.
Report frank60 October 1, 2016 11:29 PM BST
Sport does not get better then this, i backed  Thomas Pieters e/way to be top overall pts player at 50/1 with bet365. they were the only bookie to give that price.Hope he doesnt bottle it in the singles tomorrow.

Westwood pure filth sadly , Rose and Willet not much better imo. Chubby could have cost us the cup ,both of THEM that is.
Report pa lapsy October 2, 2016 10:43 AM BST
Obvious Clarke was going to go "top heavy" i think DL3 should have put Mickleson out first and kept Reed for 3 or 4 match.
Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar are the obvious looking standout American "certs", maybe Snedeker, i think the 1st half dozen matches are open enough, the danger though doing the later one like Kuchar is the cup could be either decided and apathy sets in , or even if Europe have momentum you are getting short odds with a crowd against you.
Expecting a bit of a comeback at least for a while, unless nerves/momentum don't completely take over hard to see US losing, the bottom end of Europes team looks so weak.

The US are definitely certainties.

Westwood should have been named as vice-captain ages ago. He will be hoping to find a partner like Colsaerts in 2012 who carried him to a win. There is no chance he will stand up to the pressure as he has been dire all year when he's been in contention. If he had any honour he would stand down.

Kaymer is not the player he was either.

The Ryder Cup has always been an old pals act in Europe. Torrance, James, McGinley, Clarke, Westwood etc. Knox should have made the team for sure but he's not part of the inner circle.

I would have picked McDowell as at least he can putt and proved himself in the last two Ryder Cups.

The process handed us 5 English players , add in old pal Westwood and there were 6 of them .  Didn't count up their collective points , but basically they delivered nothing .

Willett connection screwed up , you never stir up a hornets nest . Some of the European team played their hearts out , others wilted . Don't think even Paul McGinley could have got a win out of the twelve representing us .

Americans played very well , Davis Love was always going to be a good captain , particularly at home , and the crowd were worth a good few points .

Some stupendous golf , but course was not difficult , which suited the Yanks , and it is their prerogative to determine course set up .

Hope in 2 years time in France we get a course where they allow the rough to grow a bit .
Report Temlett October 3, 2016 12:59 PM BST
You know the course for 2018 and it has been developed and matured with 2018 in mind all the time.

It is as good a course as there is on the European Tour.

Report Kelly October 4, 2016 1:27 AM BST
Selection process needs to be refined so that someone like Casey who is playing well can be picked late . Recent form is often a better guide than someone who had a good run about a year before the event , maybe points should be weighted time wise .

It was not just in the singles the English guys messed up , Westwood and Willett both missed tiddlers on Saturday which would have influenced a better score and given Clarke more options re order of play .  He had to front load his team , Yanks knew that .

No real surprise to me the result , Americans were well prepared player and course wise , money came for USA in the days before the kick off , follow the money !( No bet myself ).

France will be a different matter I suspect ,  Brexit did not come in time  for this year !
Report workrider October 4, 2016 11:09 AM BST
Kelly, Casey is out there to simply earn money , he has no interest in European golf ,can see him taking out American Citizenship before too long .
Report frank60 October 4, 2016 1:46 PM BST
Paul Casey is not the most popular man in US  W/R ;once calling them "stupid" and "annoying.Whoops" he made the comment a good while back, haveing said that i think he lives there now , maybe the yanks have forgiven him.
Report Kelly October 4, 2016 2:59 PM BST
Irreepective of Casey's domesticity etc I would have much preferred him to be on the team than some of his fellow Englishmen who have not got the b***s that he has . Or the ability .
Report frank60 October 4, 2016 5:10 PM BST
I have to agree Kelly
Report workrider October 4, 2016 5:26 PM BST
The point been Kelly , he DIDN'T play on the European tour this year , therefore disqualifing himself from been selected..
Report Kelly October 5, 2016 1:28 AM BST
Well aware of the Casey situation , workrider . but as an analogy , Messi was probably the best player in the world , but did not play in Argentina , can you imagine the reaction if they did not pick him for the national team ?

Casey not the best player in the world , although he was deservedly No 3 at one stage and has been playing near that level for last couple of months , which was certainly in advance of the golf being played recently by a number of those pulling on the European jersey last weekend .

Quibble is with selection procedure , Yanks left their last pick until 5 days before the event , maybe we need to copy that . And ignore or change  arbitrary rules set out by the suits whose job it is to promote the European Tour . Captains pick should be left entirely to captain in my book  , no strings attached . Albeit Pieters was the last pick , leaving him out would have resulted in the worst drubbing we have got for years and years .

On another note , got e mails re tickets for Irish open next year 2017 in Portstewart . When it was in Portrush  and Newcastle ( better venues than Portstewart ) in the not too distant past a season ticket was approx £45 ( concession ) . It has now jumped to £85 , a 90% increase approx . Looks like the bean counters have moved jobs from the bookies to the European Tour .
Report workrider October 5, 2016 10:49 AM BST
Casey has been poor for years Kelly , only started to fire recently , your analogy has its flaws , lets understand that rules are a nessersary , ie colts dont quailify for the Oaks , yet Fillies do for the Derby .
Report Kelly October 7, 2016 12:55 AM BST
Casey had a bad injury , golf wise anyway , and some off course problems too , workrider . Stenson was crap for many a year , now is one of our most consistent performers . Luke Donald was world NO 1 and led the two tours earnings wise not so long ago , debated quitting golf in recent times .

The point is that form comes and goes , even over a season , Fitzpatrick is a prime example of that this year , great when qualification started , not last week . On recent form Casey would have been in our "top 4" had he been picked . And the team would have been stronger for his inclusion .

Fillies in the Derby always seemed an anomaly to me , an arbitrary decision no doubt to suit someone historically .
