People can look at this in a few ways,

The horse did nothing wrong and a shame for connections, very harsh, which i understand .
I probably would be in that camp until i saw the slow motion head on, one slap across a rivals head i'd be inclined to say it happens but two or more is at best poor jockeyship particulary from a senior jockey.

Davy probably thought he was wronged and hence his behaviour with the stewards but maybe a look at that ride again for him would be in order.

Witnessed the race but never got to see the head on. Believe he could have hit the other horse 3 times with his whip. Im just curious as to whether the initial 3 day ban was the right call. Seems a bit on the harsh side to me. However as we witnessed with buick in france you dont create any aggro with the stewards. Think a bit of an apology could be called for
Report neill d September 29, 2016 7:05 PM BST
He held his cool with O'Leary, maybe events of recent days brought it back to him and the fact he has to p!ss around in England for part of this winter. Normally a pretty calm guy.
Report tony57 September 29, 2016 7:21 PM BST
harsh imo..dont think he did much wrong, yesthe whip hit the 2nd twice, but it never stopped the horse, i understand why it was given the race, it was a head, but to give him a 3 day ban on top?
Report pa lapsy September 29, 2016 7:37 PM BST
He must of got a right dose of the "mads" altogether Neill, you would have loved to have been a fly on the wall, 14 days is severe and can only imagine what went on.
I know a few like that in Cork, cool out but when they lose it watch out.

I hope it is as you say with an apology Monarch,in the heat a lot is said and after a cooling off period you would mean little of what was initially said.

I accept that the whipping over the other horses head happened in the space of a few seconds,he always had a all arm action over the years but it happened 2 or 3 times, it looked to me terrible in atrs slow motion, that might be repeated in tomorrow mornings "news". I'm not saying it was intentional for a second but poor he did again,i think 3 days is right as was the overturning as likely SH would have got up.

Feel for him in a way,he was just trying to win and hence more likely his anger.
Thought it showed balls by the stewards, rare for a horse to get dq'ed for that but i think it is a fair reason.

Howya Tony, looks a cracking mares race tomorrow at Gowran,be another "bitofapuzzle" will come out that.
Report Temlett September 29, 2016 8:13 PM BST
3 day ban is the minimum under that rule, so he was getting lenient treatment.

He sorted himself out with a nice spell on the sidelines with his antics afterwards it seems.

pa..charlie sends over his real nice mare ...im on @6/1 he trying to get some black type, he really likes the horse..

Ha knew you would have some idea about her, can't knock her at all on her Aintree run,not really a race to get too involved in for me but like most was very taken with Queen Deirdes Galway win, SL will have to be good.
Lot of hope and dreams in this one.
Report tony57 September 29, 2016 9:11 PM BST
yes pa..spoke to kavie and wr a while ago about her comming over as i knew she was being aimed at the race..charlie doesent tilt at windmills...im surprised shes as big as she is..but we,ll see.
Report neill d September 29, 2016 10:18 PM BST
Will have a look at that mare Tony.

I wonder will the dispersal of Gigginstown from WPM's mean fewer Gigginstown spares for Davy, they'd make up a fair few of his rides in graded races. You'd imagine Kennedy would get the seconds in Elliots if he runs two. David Mullins will be around as well.
Report Temlett September 30, 2016 11:40 AM BST
Support for her this morning anyway.

Has decent form but looks like she will want further to be seen to best effect.
Report tony57 September 30, 2016 11:57 AM BST
be surprised if she gets any shorter temlett, i think 3/1 is tight enough..6/1 too big, she,ll go hurdling after this
Report Temlett September 30, 2016 12:46 PM BST
She is a nice mare.

I just wonder will this be sharp for her as she has no change of gear. She simply stays on in the manner of a horse that wants further. That might be enough, but maybe she could even trade bigger in running and still win. At least she does not seem to have the trait that many Martaline's do which is that they are hard to settle. That bodes well for the season ahead.

Good luck with the bet. I am not playing and you are on at a decent price.

Charlie Longsdon unstoppable at this time of year. 24% strike rate in September/October last time I checked, 13% for the rest of the year. I didn't back this one though.

She will be a lovely mare for the mares novice hurdle possibly.

Will get a trip as looks to have plenty of staying ability.

Sweet as a nut!!! Almost forgot it only got on at the last minute. As usual not enough on. Well done. Keep em comin!!
Report keen leader September 30, 2016 7:20 PM BST
well done tony, always going best and a confident amateur aboard sealed the deal.

kavvie, I did not say the grey had won at a gaff, I said Longsdon generally gets most of his wins on gaff tracks.

it is my policy when the proper winter racing starts to oppose the trio of ex Henderson pupils, Longsdon-Pauling-Snowdon. All 3 have a habit of hyping up their horses and frequently they turn out to be geese not swans in a manner of speaking. Due to the hype, the mug general public overbet their runners and when the competition heats up they are delights for layers.

compared to the ex Nicholls pupils, Fry and Skelton, the trio I would rate a few steps below on the league table and not likely to improve too much.
Custom Cut is correct, Longsdon always has a decent strike on non grade 1 tracks in the late autumn period because he guns his horses earlier than most.

to finish on a positive note, well hopefully, if you want to make money in the next 6 weeks, I suggest from about the 9th of October to 16th November you should bet the Jefferson trained horses blind, and you will be in profit.
Report tony57 September 30, 2016 7:28 PM BST
he has too aim for this time of year before the big yards get going..the next 6 weeks charlie will try to get 30-40 winners..his bumper horses are to be follwed at ...the gaff tracks as keen leader says..Laugh..i disagree with you about ben pauling though keen leader..i can assure you after being at his open day..he has 5-6 horses good enough for april

Report Temlett September 30, 2016 8:26 PM BST
I note that you did not include Tom Symonds keen leader.

I assume that is because he cannot get his horses ready at any stage of the season.
Report kavvie September 30, 2016 8:50 PM BST
the reason it was 6/7 /1 this time last eve was because of the trainer.if henderson or nicholls trained it it would possibly have been fav or joint fav with the level of form it had...a trainer to watch in my opinion is ben pauling.he seems to know what hes at and hes young and eager ..all he needs now is a few more decent horses to really get to the top
Report neill d September 30, 2016 10:27 PM BST
Nice one Tony lad.

The ex Nicholls lads are sharp mofos. How Barters Hill goes will tell me a lot about Ben Pauling, think he has possibly said too much already on that horse.

He's broken his arm again after falling off Ball D'Arc.
Report Catch Me ifyoucan October 8, 2016 7:23 PM BST
The leading jockey was stood down for the remainder of the day and was taken to hospital for further assessment.
Dr Adrian McGoldrick, senior medical officer for the Irish Turf Club, said: "I've spoken to casualty and Bryan has concussion and a possible fracture to his right forearm."
Cooper only returned to action at the start of September after suffering a small laceration of his liver and a partially collapsed lung at the Galway Festival in late July.

Not to be too negative on BC, especially in this difficult time, but this injury could hardly have come at a worse time in terms of him cementing his position as stable jock.

Gigginstown clearly have no issue with making changes these times and BC will surely be another. I think the only thing stopping them is they have been through Russell and can still pretty much use him whenever and that both Mullins and Kennedy are ridiculously young.

Can see a jobsharing type situation with all four getting rides in the near future at the trainers discretion with the two young lions fighting it out for the top job in 18 months.

harsh to say, but if I want to have a good bet on something in the John Durkan or whatever, would rather Davy was on it than BC.

I was on him as well workrider, and you're right BC had no chance, but the likes of Walsh nearly anticipate these things before they happen, **** thing to say I know along with most of what I've written above! but I think its the truth.
