Our lad seems very harsh on horses and does seem to give them much of a chance of winning a couple on the bounce under normal curcumstances. The increments involved in regards to a horse's rating being adjusted seems so much smaller. Maybe our lad drops them a lot quicker?
They don't seem to win as many back-to-back here, it is probably that our handicaps have more depth to them as well.
Also, I think as a body, Irish trainers/jockeys are more capable and if they have a well-handicapped horse, when they strike they are more likely to make no mistake and win quite clearly.
I often see well handicapped horses in English Racing scraping in under ordinary jockeys with the trainer commenting afterward that "the handicapper can't do much to him for that" when really the horse should've won a few lengths. These can often win again.
Also the poor standard of some races on the AW and in the North means well bred stock finding the hang of things can be hiked 10,12 or 14 pounds and still go off odds-on next time and win due to dearth of opposition.
