good crowd, uninspiring fare, Evies Wish ran a nice introductory race in the first as did Shamad and Yucatan under tender handling.
But the most interesting event was when a bookies umbrella took flight and struck a lady on the head in the middle of the betting ring, most disappointing was the bookies failure to even apologise to the injured lady.
pure ignorant

Huge crowd,I think it was free in.

The bookies didnt seem overly busy but once again that huge punter backed an OBrien horse off the board.
Hydrangea punted from evens into 4/9 with scarcely a wager struck in the ring.
I made three attempts to back her but kept missing the price.

Utah also well backed in what could turn out a right race.

I didnt fancy Air Force Blue in the Phoenix Sprint despite him looking a picture in the ring.
I backed three in the race,Fort Del Oro,Eastern Impact and for small stakes Lord Of The Land.
The not laying policy can be painful..

Was the lady injured ?
Is this a new hazard ?
Will the dreaded compensation seekers start flocking to racecourses hoping to be struck by bookmaking paraphernalia ?

Hydrangea was quick and brutal on here, 2.1+ to 1.5, Utah had the same hallmarks 2.6 to odds on before drifting out to 2.3ish near off. heavy, heavy punting(?).
Could be a right race indeed, they are so good with the 2nd string whether Donnacha or Seamie, thought twas very blatant again.

Hard lines with Mr. Smith Pa, I see you had it up for the nap of the w/e. You're on some bad run with the last 18 months?

The umbrella incident is a worrying incident for the sport going forward
Report pa lapsy August 7, 2016 11:27 PM BST
News to me regarding Mr Smith, i see you have a question mark there la, so are you asking or telling me?(re bad run)

I wouldn't leave the umbrella thing take the nights sleep off ya, OP is well able to discuss Irish racing.

Report CALLING CARD August 7, 2016 11:39 PM BST

before the last race it got very windy and the umbrellas was evidently unsecured, the lady received a hefty and nasty bang to the head
considering the crap u have posted calling my post waffle is rich
Report dj876 August 7, 2016 11:41 PM BST
Care to elaborate on the crap I have posted?
Report pa lapsy August 7, 2016 11:43 PM BST
So where did you get Mr Smith from?

I kinda get the umbrella incident myself,CC was probably shocked with the bookmakers reaction, fair enough,no need to go down the mans throat, to be fair he did like a few newcomers as well, agree with Yukatan in particular.
Report CALLING CARD August 7, 2016 11:44 PM BST
u made 3 attempts to back her ffs there was loads of 9/10 available thats one example
no matter i wont bother ya again
Report dj876 August 7, 2016 11:46 PM BST

Report dj876 August 7, 2016 11:50 PM BST
He's replying to WMFB's post at 10.19 like seriously he has us mixed up?

Saw you raving as per normal on some thread about it Pa, thought u'd know better at this stage.
Report pa lapsy August 7, 2016 11:54 PM BST
I wasn't "raving" about anything,"as per normal". put in whatever suits yourself, you haven't a bit of class if that is what you are reduced to. I know better alright, don't worry.
Report dj876 August 7, 2016 11:56 PM BST

In the 7:10 at Ballinrobe tomorrow night, Duke Cass got a seriously easy time of it on the front end when breaking his maiden at Sligo the other night. It was a really slowly run, strange sort of race where his main market rival never got involved and was a never nearer third. Wonder might he be vulnerable to Elliot's Buyer Beware under a 7lb penalty. Elliot's is a battle-hardened consistent kind of yoke that will probably make Duke Cass run to the line, something which he didn't need to do at Sligo.

Didn't see the racing properly today as was watching the GAA but noticed a few things.

Wrath of Titans won today, was strong in the betting in a weak race and that might be him now. However, he was a seriously talented bumper horse and I wonder is he now starting to feel the benefit from being under the care of Elliot. I saw most of the latter part of his race today and was pretty impressed with the way he reeled in the second having come under pressure some way out (maybe that was the track). He was highly tried by his previous yard, but I always got the impression he wanted better ground and I wonder might he go very well in a Kerry National.

Re the big one today, Carravagio looked like a sprinter in the making to me. The turn out was pretty pathetic and the Curragh have to ask themselves why British trainers are happier to run in Group 2s at Newmarket and Goodwood rather than come over here for a group 1. The Godolphin yoke in the Richmond was supposed to be a machine, yet he was never coming over, ever. It's poor.

The Loder was a poor race imo, a field of unexceptual fillies ,none of them really took the eye .I would be interested in others opinions of them.. Cattavagio looked impressive coming off what looked a strong pace , he seems like a horse who's enjoying his racing ,unlike his stablemate AFB who to me has had enough of the game imo..Neill,you could be right about Buyer Beware , they took him out of a upcoming sale ....

Backed him there this morning workrider, that's good to know. A positive.
