Good stuff Workrider. That's a nice trip, hope you bag a few winners.
Report Ozymandius July 15, 2016 10:40 PM BST
Not easy getting in or out of Cartmel, Wonks.  Go early.  Wonderful part of the world.

yea but workrider isnt 30 stone and travelling to the course in a mobility scooter ozy,im sure he'll be fine.

Hope you're havingb a good one WR,there is some heat, see Elliot had a few at Cartmel Sat.
I remember going to Worcester to back Take a Stand in 2003 for a manky handicap,it got stuffed in a 4 horse race,2 years later was 2nd in the Gold Cup!!.
Not a bad place viewing wise, in city centre and traffic was murder getting out that evening, same heat and remember though they did their best with the water there was a fair few distressed.
Be Lucky.

Pa, had a decent day today with a nice little double 9/4 McCains and took 7/1 Fantasy a lucky winner considering what happened to his stable mate. Spoke to the jockey on the way back to the weighroom , words of great ride , were of no consolation to the poor guy..
Report pa lapsy July 19, 2016 12:26 AM BST
Good shot, i was never there, the track always has me a bit puzzled even watching it on tv, seems fairly "ground roots" in any case.
Nice trip and good day off tomorrow, just dare i say it too warm. Have a good one.

You can only see ONE jump from the stand ,hard to believe I know ,not a place for having a good bet ,although Mr Murphy would disagree ..Heat is unreal tonight cant sleep a wink , will hardly make Catt at this rate..

How these jockeys drive for days on end is beyond me , really tough ,day after day endless miles of motorways boring in the extreme . Lots of them going to a meeting for one ride .Road works keeping you stuck for ages, what a life!. It brought it back to me how tough a life these guys lead , I had only 3hrs driving to my furthest meeting , these guys sometimes have a 6/7 hour drive in darkest winter . They earn every penny , nothing romantic about sitting in a car all day getting from one meeting to another . I will keep that in mind the next time I'm thinking of having a go at one.
Report Kelly July 24, 2016 10:53 AM BST
No idea how the non established jockeys make a living given the way racing operates all over the country . In other racing regimes there is centralisation and no need for most of the jockeys to traipse about an already overcrowded set of roads . And as for trying to double up on meetings 200 miles apart as some do , does not make sense .

Guess the jockeys just love their sport , coupled with the need to keep your profile as a winning rider up to the mark . Tough going for most .
Report dj876 July 24, 2016 12:28 PM BST
The daily documentation of Wonky's life goes on and on, nothing of any interest just a smattering of after-timing and an expression of sympathy for those wonderfully honest flat jockeys. How else would they make a living? The majority of them make Wonky look like Kasparov. Have a look at the motors plenty of these creatures are driving away from the likes of Wolverhampton where the explicit prize money is a pittance.
Report workrider July 24, 2016 1:19 PM BST
Once again you miss the point dj, maybe if you took your head out of your arse you'd get the message ,whats the point of having a super powered BMW if the roads are clogged and you can't do more than 20mph because of road works , your hatred  of Flat Jockeys is only slightly less than Mincers . Pity you dont apply the same energy to your punting as you do to your emotions . You remind me of a wannabe , always someone elses fault you never made it ,never take a look at yourself, that way the problem lies elsewhere . I suggest you have a good look .

The point of this thread is an illiterate dole scrounger boasting about a sad holiday to the UK, the equivalent of a teenager putting up pics of their recent holiday on a social media site.

Report workrider July 24, 2016 1:58 PM BST
DJ, sadly your sickness shows itself again , I never claimed to be a Poet Laureate ,I leave that to others. I doubt you have the ability to understand life . You are self obsessed in the extreme , I say hardly a day goes by without someone hurting you . Your need to be proved clever will be the death of you , the sad thing is you fail to realise that .
Report workrider July 24, 2016 2:00 PM BST
Slickster ,Tony spent the night working out how many winners you had in our COMP . Poor guy couldn't get pass ONE...Laugh
Report slickster July 24, 2016 2:01 PM BST
Wonks, why don't you oversee the Galway Competition for the lads? I showed you how easy it is to do....
Report workrider July 24, 2016 2:03 PM BST
Not my cup of tea Slick , poor racing and I have little or no interest .Can't remember you showing me anything only how to back LOSERS ....Laugh
Report slickster July 24, 2016 2:03 PM BST
Ahh yes wonks, but when it came, it was worth waiting for eh.... 41 lengths if I remember correctly. And all my OWN work Silly
Report pa lapsy July 24, 2016 5:05 PM BST
Maybe with a small bit of civility and manners it could have been a decent thread.
WR could have been asked a few questions such as how the 2 countries compared, the level of racing, how the racer goer is treated differently in both, ye may well know the answer but that isn't the point.
If ye were in a pub talking like that to anyone ye wouldn't long be rightfully getting a dawk.

Pa, when has Mincer EVER posted anything relevent , I am sick and tired of his constant moaning ,nothing was ever right in his eyes. Another one who needs help along with dj, a right pair of saddos .Although some of his rants were classics , right up there with the best of them , his , Something came out of the saddle post ,and his Soccer they wouldn't score if they were there all day ,think it ended up 4-4 ....Laugh
Report pa lapsy July 24, 2016 5:35 PM BST
I couldn't slag anyone for getting things wrong at the moment WR.
He is right the forum is very dead though, people can't be bothered it seems.
Report workrider July 24, 2016 5:39 PM BST
Pa the main reason its dead is simply this, no matter what is offered up as a topic ,the ones who like to think they are better than anyone have to knock it ..Thread after thread is taken to pieces to satisfy their egos . People have rightly had enough ,and are voting with their feet...
Report pa lapsy July 24, 2016 5:44 PM BST
Very fair point WR, there was a day when the place was civil enough particulary with racing,ah well.
Report newapproach July 24, 2016 9:13 PM BST
The forum is undoubtedly very quiet @ the moment but it is an annual occurrence every summer. I think it get's quieter on here when the top class jumps racing finishes as there isn't as much interest in flat racing in Ireland. The quietness of the forum has been exasperated by the loss of callitasucit who was one of the best posters on here and whose golf threads were popular during the golf season. I think activity will pick up after Listowel when the top class jumps horses come out again.
Report tony57 July 25, 2016 10:03 AM BST
mincer ive never got involed with the mind games you like to play but people such as yourself and dj only see bad in everything..badminds etc..wr thread was nothing more than genuine interest in racing and how different the 2 countrys are tracks betting etc...the hatred towards the man and jealousy is childish to the exstream..the man is a gentleman who goes racing more then most and loves it..for people to find fault with that just shows how sad they are...
all those that have met him or been racing with him have nothing but praise for the man..while those that rarely go racing and have met no one snipe from behind their keyboards..very sad..
Report wildmanfromborneo July 25, 2016 10:46 AM BST
There is a simple solution for Mincer make it more interesting by creating some threads,if they are good these old great posters of the past will return.
Report insideinfo July 25, 2016 1:27 PM BST
funny to see mincer refering to anyone else as vile when he is about the most vile character on here Laugh well along with ozy.
Report tony57 July 25, 2016 2:47 PM BST
the galway comp was a tradition on here before i joined? last year was a decent comp.people enjoyed it?mincer you really are one  pr.ck!
Report Ozymandius July 25, 2016 3:30 PM BST
Mincer would be an immense loss to the forum, he might not be your cup of tea, Tony, but his content is incisive, informative and highly entertaining.

Mincer wouldn't have time on his hands to do a racing holiday blog, but if he did it would be a bestseller.  Therein lies the difference.
Report insideinfo July 25, 2016 3:58 PM BST
WALOFS Laugh hardly surprising tho to see one vile character vouch for another.mincer doesn't have time for much else because hes usually too busy constructing pocket talking jockey bashing threads or logging in and out to post under his various usernames on here.
Report tony57 July 25, 2016 4:55 PM BST
oz,
the galway comp as i said was underway before i even started to post on here about 5years ago, last year 30 people got involved, to now say its a drain on the site because i wanted to get it up and going just shows mincer up for what he is..as for him not having the time to post on here ?well thats a strange one..?
