Just had a look to see what all the fuss was about and I have to say that looked very bad. You would think that after the Noble Emperor episode that this trainer would be keeping his nose clean for the foreseeable future. No bet in the race myself but for those that may have backed it eachway you couldn't be blamed for being p1ssed off. I presume he'll get off the hook again and Father Ted will defend him to a hilt on RTE when Tony lands a big touch at the Galway festival.
this keeps happening in irish racing cause they can get away with hit........1 non trier in the whole of last year.........they are all great lads, can do what they want, hi tax payer , plsease keep sending the dough, festival at galway lets go folks, great jocks, shewd trainers, all honest decent lads.

The incredible thing about Galway H/caps, the winners seem to find loads , would the h/capper not think to himself ,I won't let that happen to me again .Year after year we see it ,trainers successfully pulling stokes ,then been told how clever they are . When the question should really be , were did it find that improvement. Was it running on its merits the last couple of runs ,doubt in the clamour to congradulate you'll ever here that question.

Was down there last night and didn't actually notice the horse as I was concentrating on the 1st 2 home. Saw AJ looking slightly worried when he was coming out of the parade ring after the race. Noel O'Brien was there as well so no doubt he will have had a good few looks at the replay after he heard about the Stewards action post race.
As an aside, I also noticed Patrick Mullins going out for a run around the track about an hour before this race - didn't back the winner though, he had drifted from 5/2 early in the day to 5s on track so it looked like the ground had ruined his chance. Think Katie thought she would easily pick up the winner close home but he battled really well for an 11yo.

He was giving the horse an easy run before Galway! You would want to be a right thicko not to have known that before the race. Most trainers do it including Weld and not a mention about it. I have no personal liking of Martin but think he is a fantastic trainer who has done unbelievably well with by and large average cast offs from trainers in England and France. Its part of the game as long as there are handicaps(which i personally love).
