I'm not really the fella for this but start one off anyway,
Royal Troon According to the general view the 1st nine offers the score part and more so holes 1-4, holes 10-12 have ranked the 3 hardest historically, though the wind direction is a major factor. The weather at this stage seems very neutral to both early and late starters and while Scotland like here is very changeable seems every one will have a fair crack. I think overall it will both suit long hitters(early) and "plotters", going back to '04 Todd Hamilton,Ernie Els, Mickleson and Westwood filled the 1st 4 places,a mix there.
It is a pity SKY have the rights, a plus though is they are showing Wednesdays practice which may give a guide.
The Players Day and Dustin are rightly favourites, they are in great form, with some of the enhanced ew terms i couldn't put anyone off but one bad drive could prove costly here,i couldn't do them. I think at the prices Phil at a best price 45/1 would be a better ew for the place part than a win on the big 4, he did well last week after looking out at one stage. Pod, Shane and Gmac should do well here though won't be carrying any of my bobs at this stage. I thought the 700's on Shane lookalike Andrew Johnstone and playing well enough big hitter Scott Hend are fair enough Hail Marys as was the 500, on Ross Fisher. As usual probably plenty of time in running to have another few goes.
Best of luck, hopefully it will be a better spectatle than the last few years.
Gary woodland 45/1 with Boyles top 5, a guy on betfair looking 32/1 for the same bet, Had a good bet on Dustin Johnson [now that he has the monkey of his back] i did Jimmy Walker 40/1 top 5 as well with boyles, goodluck.

Hard to back the top4 atm, dustin seems to be flying but 9/1 with the draw unpredictable etc,Spieth putting could be crucial factor though Greens not superfast as they dont want play stopped with moving balls like last year.weird that no bbc ,hope sky dont have too many ad breaks Hoping Lowry has learned a bit from us open and can get involved though playing with spieth and rose not ideal.Hole 11 looks interesting but with soft greens could be a birdiefest esp on front 9

Would be fancying Rory on a drivers course , were it not for the extra baggage he has created for himself by voicing opinions on the merit of Olympic golf .
Sergio might just bury the demons which seem to possess him in majors , and he does drive the ball well , an advantage here .
Sky are giving the event plenty of air time , looking forward to 4 days worth of coverage , hope the weather plays ball .

Perfect conditions for early starters . Expect a low scoring morning at least , not sure whether wind and drying conditions may make scoring more difficult for later starters .

Reed just pitched in for a 2. Monty leading ,theres hope for everyone .Very easy conditions alright , could be a very low scoring day..Off to play in my own OPEN having not hit a ball for months...

Doesn't matter a jot Catchme, good golf but course too benign today, different story tomorrow with the rain and 20mph+ winds, still looks like lates/early may have had a bit of an advantage. Long way to go and a lot of class up there, but i expect a lot to drop off the peloton tomorrow,a survival day which will have a big bearing. Pity Phil missed the last putt,it meant a lot to him.

Was watcing it with my mate after playing myself today , he always backs Phil , remember his phone call when Phil won at Augsta he was over the moon ,everytime one of Phils putts dropped today you could hear him moan, he forgot to back him this year...

Everybody got a fair crack at the course today , unusual for links golf as wind usually changes things . If anything the later starters got a small advantage because the wind died on the back nine which was playing about 4 shots harder than the first nine up to mid afternoon . As against that the later starters got a few unusual happenings on the short putts , grass grows a bit over a long day , and not always evenly .
Disappointing round from Shane , hard to see him making the cut unless conditions blow a lot off course .

The PGA prices on Phil have not moved a great deal.
He won there last time and has great form on the other designers' tracks at Bethpage and Winged Foot.

^ Very astute, you may lose out on the place part but likely you will have near double the odds on the week if he holds on and a bit better unless a total meltdown.
Yes draw was totally skewed in the end, with the weather while could be worse i doubt it will turn into a lottery and hard to see anyone coming from miles back for the weekend.

Hard lines with Phil, the place isn't the worst but with 11 shots back to 3rd he came up against a machine in Stenson.
Great viewing up til 15 or so, two great players this week and showed the rest of the field up something rotten.

You will never see a better display from two golfers.
Phil must take the positives from it as it could be a hard one to come back from. At least he has won plenty before this and he was a credit to himself all day.

I don't know much about Golf, Frank, but there was an interesting quote in this morning's paper from Mickelson on how in 2004, he realised that he couldn't overpower this particular Golf Course and had yield to just playing the best golf he could on it. Age profile of the leaders might be due to a combination of experience and patience rather winning out over the big hitters this week.

Brilliant from the first two , tremendous golf . OK they got the best of the weather , but nevertheless the duel was spell binding . Most of the young guns failed to sparkle , guess they need a different type of course .

The open that sticks in my mind was 1970 when Doug Sanders missed an 18inch putt to win , Jack Nicklaus won the playoff the following day. Yesterdays open will stick in the mind of many of our younger foremites in years to come.

Phil's price is now just about half what it was for the PGA on Saturday. Market took a while to take his display into account along with his outstanding course links.
