I think it's counter productive. Because of the longer hours open its more diluted,I now find them soulless places with few people there. I rarely attend now,

For Corkies the Hacketts on Evergreen Rd. shut its doors for the final time last night,as far as i know it has been a betting shop for 40 years with various owners. For that area of the city other than a shop in Ballyphehane the only other choice is go into the city centre, a loss most certainly to immobile elderly with no computer skills at all. Do hope the staff got transfered elsewhere.

Don't have much sympathy with anybody that spends their waking hours in a betting shop tbh.
Anyway, there is a Ladbrokes down by the AIB on Pearse Road (heading towards Musgrave Park)

I couldn't think of the road that ladbrokes was on,knew it was the harse end of Ballyphehane.
Couldn't agree more regarding hacketts, everytime i passed i rarely saw 1 in there. The fella that said it to me is nearly 80 and had 2 hip ops not so long ago, just a euro or two punter(a pure interest) and would be in and out. No reason to not have some computer skills but still understandable at that age,(ha i could picture him with the pipe going goodo with a e20 free bet online).
Quite a quick turnaround (say 10 years) in betting shops fortunes, decline in pub culture, technological advances, punter awareness and recession have all but killed them anyway.
