Shocking behaviour from West Ham supporters i am against all sort of violence but particularly against team buses. I remember a good mate of mine who's cousins are from Meath told me when Northern GAA teams were going up the road after getting beaten the local Meath monkeys would come out and give them pelters throwing cans even if they were not playing themselves. All sports has this issues from what i can see but last night was the worst i have seen, hopefully the Hammers get this new ground closed for a few games.

Cant say we ever had trouble with Meath supporters ,Rocketfingers .  In fact in 1991  having gone through their epics with Dublin to get to the final , they were very gracious in defeat  , disappointed as they must have been .

Just don't understand the tribalism engendered in relation to support for certain teams / sports . Sport is supposed to be recreational , not tribal .

Lies/exaggeration again from our LOI fan. Most sports have issues and work hard to sort them out.
This carry on the other night was awful, I hope the soccer lads over here don't try to carry out a copycat attack, our small game over here gets a lot of bad press.

If true, what year did these Meath people attack the northern team buses?.

Get the house in order Rocketfingers before you attack the big sports, I do hope your sport gets some good press because the majority don't like the carry on you and others turn a blind eye to.

Gant ask the Derry and Armagh teams what it was like, lucky to escape back to the UK (As they were being told) with a couple of broken windows as i said every sport has it's problems, we need to face up to them. I suppose we can't rule out the fact that this may have been politcal the other night right v Left like we would have to allow the same for what happened in Meath.

Can understand tempers getting frayed at matches  , most of us have experienced that between players ( and officials ) , but attacking buses is another matter . Symptomatic of society more than sporting activity , but identifiable team buses attract hooligans like flies to a carcass .

Throughout the "recent" troubles up here there was constant stoning of buses ( easy target) particularly in / around Belfast , across a wide spectrum of political divides . Idle hands and all that .  My father in law ( a Mayo man ) had to lie on the floor of his regular tram  on his way to work each day in Belfast to avoid stray bullets --back in the twenties that was , so reckon there is little new under the sun .

When are these attacks supposed to have taken place? Sounds like complete nonsense.

Only time I see a bus being attacked or supporters being attacked is when Monaghan used to travel to Casement and the supporters had to go around the ring road in Portadown. You could usually guarantee that there would be thugs on the flyover pelting stuff at the supporters and the team.

Attacking buses seems to be a specialty of Sligo Rovers fans.

The most infamous was the Glentoran bus.
This bus was attacked when unoccupied, some brave Sligo fans broke into this bus, broke it up but then got nervous and behaved like migrants in swimming pools.
That bus is still being cleaned

The Limerick bus was also attacked, this time our brave assailants just waited for it and pelted it with stones.

on a thread about alleged GAA and soccer violence.

If I were you Enoch I'd be more concerned about the North African masquerading as a fox in Filbert Street. Many eminent pundits, ex-footballers and assorted experts have failed to explain the success of Leicster. You and I know differently however, football success and attracting the followers of the so-called religion of peace comes before rivers of blood on the terraces.

Still in denial Royal Academy.

That North African you claim is masquerading as a fox is most definitely not masquerading as a footballer,he and Vardi best players in the Premiership.

Mahrez a fantastic role model in a very diverse city.  Great to see all creeds and colours represented in Leicesters fan base.

You are spot on Rocketfinger. My local GAA historian tells me the Down bus was pelted with eggs near slane by youths in 1991.
No charges were brought against these hooligans.

Armagh and Derry were done with the hard boiled variety my, very well placed, sources tell me.

I probably wasn't born then but it's a great thread you started.

28 year old male arrested after handing himself in. The English do a good job dealing with this sort of thuggery.
It's a pity that someone who condones this carry on over here had to highlight this isolated incident.
