Is it just me or does long odds on shots ,no matter how good they are ,really appeal to punters. I find it boring watching these hot pots at EVERY festival tbh, and I love my racing.

Any views on Yorkhill's run at Aintree, pulled hard, jumped poorly, hung left after the last but still won going away ultimately- a staggering run.
It depends a lot on what way you view it? Do you look at the positives and say this is a superstar who won despite doing everything wrong or do you look for the reasons why these things materialised. Who am I to second guess WPM but for me it wasn't a performance that was crying out for another challenge at Punchestown 17 days later. The Neptune form is rock solid with the form horses pulling a long way clear and both look well above average,Ruby did ride the ears of BJG there as they thought all they had to do was avoid trouble with Yanworth. However the third placed horse at Aintree is moderate and the 4th was 10 lengths closer than he was in the Neptune so it was a concerning run even if I am not doubting Yokhill's ability. The ground can't be put forward as an excuse. I am not interested in times generally but it was a slowly run race, some 30 seconds slower than standard so the pace could be suggested as an excuse for the pulling hard. It's a fairly different test tomorrow,is the drop to 2 miles on good ground definitely not going to be an issue? Yes he won the Tolworth over 2 miles but that was on heavy ground and that was his only other hurdle run over the minimum. He did of course run away with a bumper here over 2 miles on good ground but not always transferable. We often get some strange results at Punchestown at the end of a long season and for me that Aintree run was concerning. PM got much close to Beuveur D'air at Aintree, possibly his best run to date. The supreme did look a decent renewal (Beuveir D'air,PM and Mister Myagi have somewhat franked it) and this sharp test should suit Charbel. The tactics will certainly be extremely interesting, the faster they go the more it helps Yorkhill. There appears to be lots of pace in the race but Bass and Cooper must be aware of the Aintree run. I couldn't have Yorkhill at 2/5-4/9 and will be a layer. The PP offer might be of interest to urban dwellers with money back as a free bet if second to the SP Fav -€25 max. That's with currently 6 runners, not sure if that would stand with 5. A possible positive for Yorkhill is the returning Ruby, although it must have been marginal as Sandown was only a couple of days ago and he would have been keen to be part of it. The festival is too long and have diluted the standard of the cards too much as a consequence. |

Tony, Jenkins may well win but not for me. 5/6 is a crazy price. He won a class 6 bumper easily at Newbury but this is a 59,000 euro contest with a lot of unexposed well bred sorts.
Henderson's record over the last 10 years in Punchestown bumpers is 1/17 ae.37 so Henderson under performs here big time. If I was a layer this would be a 5 star one at odds on. |

Rather than Jenkins i'd personally much prefer the 1st 3 at the slightly bigger price of evens for Brelade.
As said above hard to gauge some of the debutantes,Meade and Harrington's what look like 1st strings could be decent, who knows. Still Brelade's closing 2nd to Aspen Colorado was a cracking effort,Allardyce ought to be held through The Sneaky Punter on that run. Aspen Colorado beat Without Limites previously which adds a very solid look to that run. |

mr combustable, i think hes too short for what hes done, tbh i expected 2/1 min?..the market have over reacted but we see this everyday, i fully understand anyone taking him on ...i stand by by comments as i was impressed with the horse , i know the yard are very confident , i spoke with someone who knows the owners (they have a horse in another yard)they think he is too short, and expected to be able to back the horse at bigger prices..i,ll wait till nearer the off i think he,ll be bigger as money comes for the home horses.... best of luck to all today..remember its a long festival.. |

Have layed Jenkins at 2.22 , even if it wins its no big deal , the Irish horses will give him a run for it ,so many possibilites and it really a shocking price .

PP shops now seem to be participating in the money back as a free bet if second to SP fav .
They keep moving the goalposts the bookies . One of our local independents had an offer in the paper this morning . First shop I enquired in said it only applied to on line , dissatisfied I went to another and they said it was OK in the shops . Right hand , left hand ? |

vautour,my favourite and many mores favourite horse .~ trained at start of the year for 3m+ chinned in king george. they insist he will stay and run in gold cup or stay in his box.he wins the ryanair.much to the disgust of antepost punters.runs in aintree with a race at his mercy and falls.runs in punchestown over 2m and hasnt the pace for 2m have they made a **** of the horse or what?
|
|
By:
Wonder what the actual going is today ? They gave it as good to yielding , which surprised me given the dry spell we have had . And the cross country course is good to firm .
Vautour looks like Desert Orchid to me , brilliant at up to 3 miles , bit suspect thereafter . Horse tends to jump a little left , OK at Cheltenham , not desirable at Kempton or Punchestown . Still a brilliant horse , but they are not machines . Good synopsis dj , spot on re Yorkhill . |

Ruby only riding in the Grade Ones. He must be in a bad way. Further disregard for the racing public I would say. Either he is fit to ride or not.

I have to admit I found myself reflecting on Mincers words re Irish racecourses today , I stand way up in the stand and have done for many a year now ,today brought home to me the lack or otherwise of racecourse planning , near the end of the stand is a glass window ,there been no racing for eons at Punchestown you'd have thought they'ed have had a look around and tidied it up a little ,not a lot just a little , seeing as it is their showcase meeting and we have plenty of overseas visitors .Sadly it seems nobody has visited the stand since the last meeting ,the window was shattered and the dirt caked heavily on the window and surrounds , even a pucket and sponge woud have helped , It was embarresing today when a bbc reporter had to enter a little box near us only to find it was full of rubbish and several tea cups were still there . Shamefull is the only word for it , then someone driving a buggy along the lawn while people were trying to get from a to b .Someone could have been hurt ,finally I was trapped in the car park for ages , unable to exit simply because the traffic controllers saw fit to allow cars park over the edge of the road leading to the exits ,which meant you had to wait for the owner of the car in front of you to arrive to let you out , been unable to reverse because of how near the car behind you was , if was impossible to get a turn .Rant over .

Josies Orders, Alpha Des Obleaux and Invitation Only all look solid. The fact that a few odds on shots have been beaten this week is probably meaning that that these 3 are bigger than they should be. I think if this were Tueday again all 3 would be odds on.

Some great performances today , pity about the site outage here though .
|
|
By:
Bonny Kate must have a wind problem. Again cantered into it, a huge leap 4 out putting her odds on to my eye, only to be beaten half a furlong later. Very similar to her Irish National effort.
Great scenes for On The Fringe. Fantastic performance. VVM battled well. She went off an absolutely stupid price(Thank God for the outage!!) |

Identity thief will be some chaser, 3miles and fences is what this fellow needs now

Backed Bonny myself Callit , and was unhappy from the start , when she won here the last day she jumped out and made all, and they never saw her again . I'm sure thats the way to ride her ,unless she has a problem that is . Noels horses are running poor , had a look at his in the bumper ,looked really well ran like a drain . A couple of kids near me thought they'd finished as they past the line first time in the H/Chase they'ed backed OTF and were going mad thinking it was beat , when I told them they had to go round again they calmed down , second time around they were delerious with joy . Pity they only pop up at festivals , Punchestown lost a big oppertunity , never once were this kids asked their opinions about racing .
