I've often wondered why the Irish make zero impact in tennis but that might now change -thanks to Bob Henderson. This is a guy who made a fortune in the US from a chain of sports stores and is now retiring to his native Fermanagh. A tennis nut, he plans to start up an academy - Tenniskillen . His aim is to produce 'the tennis equivalent of Rory McIlroy' as well as boost the image of N Ir as a region of high sporting achievement and provide spin-off local employment. Of course scoffers will abound but what's not to like ? The money and drive are there so why not give it a shot . Maybe a tennis copy of Rory is unrealistic but an Irish type Andy Murray might be possible. A buddy of mine in Boston who knows Henderson says that 'what Bob wants ,Bob gets' so who knows -he might just pull it off ! Personally ,as an unreconstructed partitionist, I would prefer a southern tycoon to start up a Tenniskerry but I'll be watching this project unfold with keen interest.
