2002 Rooster Booster 8/1 but bigger earlier, coming from well off the pace to lead at the last hurdle and win the County Hurdle ! 
For many years the County Hurdle was traditionally the last race to be run at the Festival (getting out stakes) however a new running order was announced ahead of the 2009 meeting.
Willie Mullins has a very good record in recent years with.....

Moscow winning the Arkle was my first year there.
Had backed Like a Butterfly in the Supreme, and had a pretty hefty bet for a young lad on the mighty Flyer. I though this is a great place altogether!!
40 mins later, I stood there with tears in my eyes as Istabraq was pulled up, and Valiramix was put down.
Keen Leader in the SA Hurdle was one of my big fancies of the week on Wednesday, and I though it was bagged until he came down in front two out.
I had done a double back in September, Istabraq at I think 3s for the CH, and Best Mate at 16s for the GC. I had a good bet on him on the day though, and walked home in the rain absolutely hooked on Prestbury Park!
Nick Dundee was an awful moment. One of my favourites, he had the racing world at his feet.
I wasn't there for Danoli, but would love to have been.
Denman winning the GC will live long in the memory. There was such an eerie silence as they circled at the post. The anticipation was unreal. Kauto may not have been in top form, but the Tank was flawless.

My interest in Horses started back 43years ago when Arkle be Mill House in his 1st Gold cup win , nothing that has happened since has Surpassed that great Memory. Im not sure if there is any foremites here old enough to remember the lead up to the great race ;the English thought Mill House was unbeatable , not only did Arkle beat Mill House he broke him,Mill house was never quite the same horse again. My bets would have been shillings at the time as I think i was earning around a fiver a week.
I didnt return for some years but remember backing Brown Lad in a novice hurdle.
Had a decent bet on Captain Christy to win Champion Hurdle.
Had my biggest ever bet on Golden Cygnet the year of his demolition of a decent field,it was my best ever time gambling.
I came back from that Cheltenham with enough money to buy a new car,when I brought it home neighbours were inspecting it and commenting on my big win.
This brought this immortal comment from my wife " I know he bought the car out of his winnings but he would have bought the garage with his losses "

Four us drove down from London for just the one day, the Tuesday. On the way home, spirits were a bit glum, 3 of the boys had been cleaned out. I was the only one up on the day, so I offered to buy dinner to perk them up.
We ran into a couple of Reasonable Sorts in the restaurant. Several drinks later they invited us back to their place. Some of the boys were keen to get back to London at this stage. I knew I was in, so insisted that we take the ladies up on their kind invitation.
The girl's place was small, sort of a two up, two down, arrangement. I headed straight upstairs with one of the birds and left the rest of the group downstairs in the Living Room. Some time later, I descended the stairs, chest puffed out, strutting like a Peacock, to find the Boys with faces like thunder, watching the late night highlights of the days racing on C4, with, I might add, the volume turned up rather high.
I came out with the immortal line; "Now THAT was the Ride of the day, Boys" much to their further disgruntlement.
Back on the M4 heading home, several sheets to the wind, thinking; "Isn't Cheltenham great".

Finally you knew in your heart and soul that the immortal line would be his own.

I was there that day C.R. ,Tidel bay won by 13L , I was kicking myself for not backing him.

Had an absolute belter myself the same day actually. Got a lucky 15 up with Detroit City, Black Jack Ketchum, War of Attrition and Desert Quest.

Callit was stood next to me in the stand as Ruby brought up the last leg in the county hurdle. What a day!

This has the makings of a decent thread.
I won't pretend that I've ever left Cheltenham so weighed down with bags of cash that I could splurge it all on a slap-up meal for less skilful punting pals, or have a readymade army of attractive women all wanting to take me back to theirs and ride me senseless. That would be cringeworthy, although Cork All Star landed me a rare nice few quid when getting home in the Bumper a few years back.
My favourite visit to Cheltenham was my first day there with Dad in 1971. I was suffering from an imaginary illness and taking a richly-deserved day off from Primary School, already an obsessive NH fan.
Highlights were seeing L'Escargot complete the Gold Cup double, and Peter O'Sullevan signing my programme (still have it). Years later when nostalgically skimming though the racecard, I belatedly discovered that a certain RED RUM had run in the finale, finishing unplaced. At that time the great horse ran in different colours to those of the great Noel Le Mare.
Not a bad first day at the races.

Nice piece Alun, first time at the festival was 77/8 , had my tonsils on Sea Pigeon only to see him mugged by Monksfield .

1979(i think) i was in school in naas done a 2pounds double stranfield and monksfield it clicked.lets say i didnt go thirsty that night!!
i won a good few quid one christmas and done two singles and a double see you then and forgive and forget both 5/1 ch hurd and gc i was dreaming of a big pay out , sadly forgive was beaten at 4/5.
the year dawn run won there was a gang of us in a pub in cloghan co offaly.we gathered up the cash(1560) i was the runner.went in chest out and had it on at 2/1 happy days.
the cha hurdle has been a lucky race for me istabraq all 3, flakey dove.hors la loi.faugheen. had good touch with sublimity and binocular at big prices
a good few years back i backed attitude adjuster.tmw at his best(or worst!!)
i backed boreen prince the year even tho every irish man in chelt had buck house backed..
still remember clearly and happily shane broderick on dorans pride at the top of the hill looking around for non existent dangers
