13.15 Ascot - Premier Bond @ 4/1 (potential r.4)
This is priced as a competitive race but the Seven Barrows representative is the standout bet of the weekend for me. Premier Bond is a horse that has long been on my radar despite his bumper performances appearing to be visually uninspiring but surprisingly the Fos Los bumper has worked out.
However this son of Kayf Tara is a completely different preposition over hurdles and I believe the best is yet to be seen. On his hurdling debut at Sandown he ran his experienced stablemate 007 to just over a length( PB in receipt of 6 lbs) and was closing all the way up to the line. 007 has subsequently being second to Yorkhill in the Tolworth (Grade 1) with the BF hurdle runaway winner Agrapart (of 137) a further 8 lengths adrift.
Premier Bond's hurdling debut was as impressive as you'll see but the way he finished his race of at Newbury (see December 29th thread) confirmed my opinion that he's a horse of serious untapped potential. There was a time where I would have spoke about being impressed visually by a bridle ponce wining on the snaff but that has probably altered now to being taken by improving battlers. The Newbury race was over the minimum trip but it's fair to say that PB would have been in another parish if the race was over any further. The 5 lengths second obliged at prohibitive odds earlier in the week.
The step up in trip tomorrow is exactly what his style of racing suggests he will thrive on, this view is compounded by his breeding as his dam Celtic native was a multiple winner including a brace of 2m 5f races at Cheltenham in the space of 2 days. His full brother ace high is a winner over 3 miles and will be surprised if the genuine Premier Bond doesn't excel at this trip tomorrow.
Henderson's form would be a slight concern as they aren't exactly flying. Nico de Boinville is competent, a much better jockey than the attached Bass and certainly Tinkler but despite being a Gold Cup winner but he hasn't established himself as a consistent, top tier jockey yet.I think PB will improve past these rivals tomorrow and don't think he'd disgrace himself in the Neptune at the festival either.
Anyone getting involved in this race,be wary of a probable 30 cent rule 4
Lot of short prices at Fairyhouse today in the 2 more competitive races the 3m handicap hurdles on the 31st of Jan looks to play a major part in them. In the 2.55 Townshend is a costly Mullins newcomer who has won last time at Auteil, really could be anything and for betting purposes i would be inclined to look at the W/O market. Sqouateur did it all very snugly last time, has to be dangerous but it looked a weak race and gets an extra 8lb. Near the head of the market are Sam Red who is back after a break, don't fancy him on Mallow running, wonder was Diamond cauchois win a flash in the pan? it was a weak race all the same. The placed horses behind Coolaknock Glebe gives him a chance though think it is equally possible a quiet one could be on particulary as a more fancied runner in the colours, respect Golan Lodge however as the form line with Not for Burning says it could well be involved. It leaves us with your "buddy" Mal Dini, the glaring point with him is he was running over the wrong trip last twice and 2m 4f looks bang on. Creeping up the handicap it is still hard not to see him again travelling well and surely no problems seeing it out,if around 4/1 ew W/O it would appeals to me. In the 2.20 hard not to see another one dropping back in Not for Burning running well in what looks a weak race,4/1 gone but even 3/1 looks fair. Not bad racing in the UK though looks hard to me,thought the Pertempts looks an interesting race at Haydock in that the two Irish challengers have to win, Woodford Island is fav though while beating the well pointed out on here "boat" Be My Hero easily it was form well let down, money certainly left in the pocket for this race.

Drumacoo @9/4 is the bet for me today, his trainer has made no secret that he thinks a fair bit of the horse,I was on fto @huntingdon at big prices I was surprised at how easy he brushed aside a fair horse Fletcher's flyer the horse has had problems and the bounce is a worry but I think the longer the break the less chance of the bounce? If this horse is as good as his trainer thinks he,ll win today and go on to the festival. The other bet is tearsofclewbay 4.45 @4/1 not a great bumper she won at uttoxeter on debut but she done it well, this is tougher and the favorite has form behind the best bumper mare around in UK,but with a good kid taking 7lb off I'm happy to chance the Hobbs runner. I also think Hobbs will win 4.25 @ haydock

Onenightinvienna is going for the national this year callit I think.
I'm having 2 bets today.
The early 4/1 about not for burning is gone but I still think the 3/1 is a good price in the 2.20 @ Fairyhouse. He won very easily 3 runs back @ this track and has ran well twice since in defeat. Looks sharp enough so I don't thick the drop in trip should be too much of a problem.
Valhalla looks a promising horse in the lucky last @ wincanton. Shaped like a non stayer over 2 and a half miles at ascot in a race where stamina was very important. The drop down to the minimum trip should suit as he travelled well on the day before fading due to lack of fitness/stamina. 8/1 a fair price e/w.
Good luck

Look at the attention the likes of NA and DJ make to present their posts legibly and coherently and then contrast them wth Pa's efforts.
Perhaps your medical condition/handicap means presentation makes no difference to you and you don't notice it?

I was in a rush to post before the beginning of the race and had only read a couple of the latest posts as a result. It wasn't due to presentation that I didn't see pa's selection.

Mental OLC,you wonder what some know as purely on the face of it the brothers relation looks well more than enough, has to be one for the sidelines unless you are in that group.

I don't know we wether a drop in trip will work maybe? I'll find out what the excuse was but I imagine the trainer will be scratching his head? lucky for me the bumper saved the day,but was on drum big ,disappointing to say the least... Callit, that one night looked far better beggining of the season I wonder whether ground is a excuse?

Hmmm, you got the feeling with the bumper they knew which one of the two to be on,a mugging though with the outsider, the way the Mullins horse was ridden i got the impression maybe not very well thought of(?).

Well done Tony on that 4/1 WINNER . D'ozy will be along shortly with his congradulations , hopefully he followed your advice , he seems to be backing EVERYTHING you put up on here, very kind of you to give him a scrap from your table mate..

Hardly, Wonks, wouldn't want to see him or anybody too far down on the day. His main bet went down the pan, as did his other odds on shot. I just hope the 4/1 shot got him back near break even.

The title of the thread is "Saturdays racing" how many replies have you made on it and not a single one about racing D'ozy? None. Seriously why are ya sticking your nose in? A pure waste of space and only drags threads down.

I could, of course, throw up horse selections willy nilly, day after day, showing loss after loss after loss, with no shame, and be thought of as a great fellow by the Clap on the Back Brigade when one happens to hit.
No thanks.

The difference being i know the difference, Pa. I wouldn't expect you to be able to throw off your permanently attached tribal blinkers and realise that, though.

No tribal blinkers, believe that or not,Tony,Workrider and another few have an interest in racing, that is all. Fairly normal also without a need to create a false persona and that i can empathise with.
